Emaar MGF organizes Free Health Camps for Its Site Workers

Chandigarh 24th October:- Emaar MGF is conducting a fortnight-long free health checkup and screening program for construction labourers and staff employed at it project sites in Gurgaon and Mohali. The health camp, being organized from 17th-29th October 2016, is one of the key initiatives undertaken by the company under its Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) management practices.
The camp, aimed at ensuring the wellbeing of workers and staff, is being conducted at the company’s project sites including Mohali Hills in Mohali, and Palm Terraces Select, Marbella, Palm Hills, Palm Garden, Imperial Garden, Gurgaon Greens, Digital Greens, Palm Drive, Emerald Estate, Emerald Hills, Emerald Plaza in Gurgaon.
Certified medical practitioners from nearby hospitals visited the sites to screen and prescribe necessary medications to the staff.  The free health camp is focused on screening for occupational diseases, as well as other health conditions. Occupational diseases are caused by exposure to a workplace health hazard and can lead to chronic conditions from inhalation of silica dust and other particles while carrying out daily activities at project sites.
On this occasion, Arman Chaudhary, Chief of Human Resources, Emaar MGF said that at Emaar MGF, we still believe in the old adage ‘A healthy body leads to a healthy mind’. The health of our workers and staff is of prime importance to us and therefore, we constantly strive to provide our employees and on-site laborers with health screening facilities under our HSE program.  Most of their time is spent on our project sites, and it becomes imperative to conduct these camps regularly for safeguarding their health. Such camps not only help in diagnosing the health conditions of the workers but also in preventing the onset of any kind of disease.

‘Videocon Connect Young Manch’ Commences Auditions for Season 4 in Amritsar

Chandigarh 24th October:- After receiving stupendous and encouraging response to the first, second and third seasons of youth talent hunt program ‘Young Manch’, Videocon Connect the dynamic arm of the $10 billion Videocon Group today staged the 1st round of auditions for contestants at Alpha Mall, Amritsar. More than 100 participants registered their names for auditioning in the Mega Contest. The Contestants danced and sang to the beats of peppy music making the audition venue lively and energetic. They received exciting gifts for their action-packed performances.
The performances were adjudged by a trusted panel of judges who pronounce winners on the basis of pre-defined criteria. Sugandhi and Rhimjhim emerged out to be the lucky winners in singing category and street dance group from Amritsar and Vijay were adjudged as winners in dancing category. The winners will now compete in the city finale.
The audition rounds are hosted in the chosen Colleges and public places such as Shopping Malls of selected cities across Punjab and is a 3 tier format. Total Number of Dengue Cases Reaches Upto 688

Chandigarh 24th October:- The 8 more cases of Dengue have been reported from various health institutions today , which bring the total number of Dengue cases to 688 in the city. 8 cases of Chikungunya have been reported today out of which 2 gave wrong address and 6 are from Chandigarh. The overall details of 133 cases of Chikungunya detected in Chandigarh is; 38 imported, 35 wrong address and 60 from Chandigarh.
To further strengthen the preventive activities, daily fumigation is being carried out alongwith strengthening of field activities which includes mass awareness, checking of breeding sources like coolers, containers, tyres and other sources.

CII Chandigarh Fair Concludes:Hundreds Shop for Diwali Gifts

Chandigarh 24th October:- Hundreds from the region thronged the Parade Ground, Sector 17, venue of the 21st edition of CII Chandigarh Fair 2016 and made the best of attractive discounts on a variety of products on the last day of the fair today. The Fair concluded to an overwhelming response.  The Fair was organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for the 21st year in a row, with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd as the Event Sponsor; Event Co- Sponsor-NABARD; Principal Sponsors- BSNL & Religare Finvest, Associate Sponsors- Orient Electric, State Bank of India, Associate Co-Sponsor- Chemical Resources- (Fenfuro); Contributors-Albasir Kashmir Arts, Hero Realty.

Singapore Airlines Launches Non Stop Singapore-San Francisco Flight

Chandigarh 24th October:- Singapore Airlines has launched its new Singapore-San Francisco service, linking Singapore with the US West Coast on a non-stop basis. The new flights will be operated daily using Airbus A350-900 aircraft.
The inaugural flight, SQ32, departed Singapore Changi Airport at 0925hrs local time yesterday and arrived at San Francisco Airport at approximately 0850hrs local time. The aircraft deployed for the inaugural flight is Singapore Airlines’ sixth A350-900, which also happens to be the 10,000th aircraft delivered by Airbus. This milestone aircraft was received at a special ceremony in Toulouse, France earlier this month and has a “10,000th Airbus Aircraft” logo on the fuselage.
The new flights are the longest in the Singapore Airlines network. Flying time will range between 14:35hrs and 17:45hrs depending on direction and time of year.
Customers departing from Singapore and San Francisco were treated to an assortment of food and beverages at special boarding gate events held to commemorate the inaugural flights. Customers received an exclusive gift pack containing collectables and three lucky passengers walked away with 10,000 KrisFlyer miles as well as S$350 worth of KrisShop vouchers during a special game segment held at the gate hold room.
With advanced technology and superior operating efficiency, the A350-900 offers customers an improved travelling experience with features such as higher ceilings, larger windows, an extra wide body and lighting designed to reduce jetlag.
Singapore Airlines took delivery of its first A350-900 in March and now has six of the aircraft type in its fleet, with another 61 on firm order, including seven of the ultra-long-range A350-900ULR variant. Singapore Airlines is the launch customer for the A350-900ULR, for which deliveries will begin in 2018. The aircraft will be used to re-launch non-stop flights between Singapore and both New York and Los Angeles.
SIA serves San Francisco twice-daily, with the other flight operating via Hong Kong. Singapore Airlines also serves the US cities of Los Angeles via both Seoul Incheon and Tokyo Narita, Houston via Moscow, and New York JFK via Frankfurt. (Houston services will be operated via Manchester rather than Moscow with effect from 30 October 2016).

Students Exhibits Scientific Models

collaboration with Department of Science and Technology Chandigarh Administration organized a Scientific Models Exhibition.
It was inaugurated by Secretary of D.A.V. College Managing Committee New Delhi, Ravinder Talwar. Surpanch Gurpreet Singh Happy was the special guest on this occasion. They examined and appreciated the models prepared by the scouts and guides to popularized science and technology.
Model prepared by Ankush and Chetan conveyed the idea that the environment could be kept clean with the use of science. They also expressed that renewable energy had favorable effect on natural resources. Deepika and Muskan, through their model expressed the danger of smoke coming out of factories and vehicles which is harmful for the living beings. It would be essential to use modern techniques to save the environment from the pollution. Rohit and Ayush exhibited the utility of solar light in houses, street and on roads.  Akash and Anand through their model of windmill emphasized on increasing the capacity of solar energy. They conveyed the fact that due to increasing global warming glaciers are melting which might ultimately lead to emersion of earth in water. Aarti, Archna and Sunny gave the message of improving the transport system. Luvkush and Mohit presented the seasonal variation. Other students conveyed useful ideas about converting the waste into the best, disposable of garbage, study of flowers and the human body system through their models. Students of junior category and senior category were also awarded for displaying best models.
Dr. Vinod Kumar, Principal of the school said that the main idea of arranging the exhibition was to create awareness about the increasing popularity of science.

Finolex Pipes Enters Limca Book of Records

Chandigarh 24th October:- Finolex Industries Ltd, one of the largest pipes and fittings manufacturer in India has been awarded with the National Record certificate by The Limca Book of Records for conducting the largest number of plumbers meets organized simultaneously across 26 states and 58 cities on 11 March, 2016.
The activity which was carried out on the occasion of World Plumbing Day was recognized and appreciated by senior plumbers across the country, appreciating the initiative and the company’s dedication in creating a well-trained eco system for new plumbers. The meets focused on the importance of skilled plumbers in the country. More than 3,000 plumbers participated in this activity.
