Region’s First Spine & Sports Injury Centre Launched

Chandigarh 26th Feb, 2019:- Trinity Hospital, Zirakpur, launched State-of-the-art Spine & Sports Injury Centre in Sector 20-C, Chandigarh which will be headed by Dr Mohinder Kaushal, internationally acclaimed arthroscopy and endoscopy spine surgeon, along with Dr Mukul Kaushal, Consultant, Orthopedics, Sports Injuries & Shoulder Specialist.
Dr. Mukul who also runs special shoulder clinic will be in charge of Arthroscopy & Sports Injury Unit. Dr Mukul has specialized training in shoulder and upper limb disorders from Wrightington Hospital, UK and his area of interest includes disorders relating to upper limb including arthroscopy of shoulder, elbow & wrist. 
The inauguration was done by Sanjay Tandon, President BJP & UT Cricket Association. The other distinguished dignitaries present at the inaugural function were Vivek Atray, Ex- IAS Officer & Motivational Speaker, Dr Mandeep Dhillon, Professor & Head of Department, Orthopedics, PGI, Dr. GS Kochhar, Director, Administration, Chandigarh Golf Club and Mr. Sushil Kapoor, President, Lions Club, Chandigarh. There were sportspersons and coaches from the city as well. Wg Cdr Satish Bhatia, Ex- Olympian Tejdeep Singh Saini, Director Sports UT, Chandigarh also graced the occasion with their presence. Trinity’s News Letter 2019 was also launched on the occasion.
The Centre is first in the region in the private sector to offer Personalized Orthopaedic care and integrated approach to sports injury management and prevention. It aims to meet the longstanding need of sportsmen by evaluating their fitness and enhance athletic performance.
Spine and Sports injury Centre, which is an outreach facility of Trinity Hospital, is well equipped to offer musculo-skeletal imaging, physiotherapy and rehab, Diet and wellness, sports performance and enhancement and sports psychology.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mohinder Kaushal, Chairman, Trinity Hospital, Zirakpur, said that this venture has been initiated based on the necessity to provide best medical services to sporting fraternity especially those promising sportsmen who can't afford treatment abroad for first class health and medical care.
He further added that today we have treated over 25,000 patients of which several are notable people from different walks of life. Our inspiration comes from - the athlete who successfully stages a comeback after injury; a soldier who can reach the heights of Siachen after surgery & ever grateful patients who we have helped avoid unindicated surgeries.





Deptt.of Pharmacology-PGI organizes 38th National Workshop on Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (NWCPT-2019)

Chandigarh 26th Feb, 2019:- The 38th National Workshop on Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (NWCPT) organized by the Department of Pharmacology, PGIMER, Chandigarh began today. Prof. Bikash Medhi welcomed the delegates and informed that in this workshop nearly 90 delegates from all over India are participating. Prof. Bikash Medhi further informed that the delegates include faculty members and personnel’s from the pharmaceutical industry as well as postgraduate students. Eminent scientists from academic institutions and pharmaceutical industries have been invited from all over the country to share their experiences.
Prof. Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh inaugurated the workshop and addressed about the importance of clinical pharmacology in health care setting ranging from drug development, prescribing and policy making. He was felicitated for his inspiring presence, by Dean and Sub-Dean of PGIMER, Chandigarh.
The organizing secretary Prof. Bikash Medhi, has highlighted all the modules of the workshop to the delegates. It is a one-week workshop comprising of six modules. Then, Dr B. Dinesh from NIN, Hyderabad and Dr Shankar Narayan from Hyderabad enlighted about the importance of preclinical data in developing clinical protocol and about the early phase clinical trials in humans.
Dr Ekta Kapoor from department of science and technology, New Delhi, took a lively session about quality auditing in Good laboratory practice set ups. The afternoon sessions got the delegates interested with scientific writing skills and e-classes on Python. The day ended on a high note with a didactic discussion about the various processes involved in getting financial assistance for research projects from governmental agencies.

Pumpkart to Create India's Largest Market Place for Industrial Products

Chandigarh 26th Feb, 2019:- Pumpkart a city grown start up  has announced an ambitious plan to launch India's largest online market place in industrial products. It is pertinent to mention here that the market size of industry supply and machinery in India is worth a mammoth US $ 400-450 Billion. The unique B2B platform will provide products like appliances, building hardware, electrical & electronics and industrial supply. Initially around 10-12,000 products would be on the menu of a revamped Pumkart B2B portal. By April 2019, the products' range will touch 50,000.
K S  Bhatia, Founder & CEO, Pumpkart said that we aim is to become India’s largest market place for industrial products. To achieve this we have a complete plan & wherewithal in place. We are going to take the product portfolio to over 1 lakh by mid of next year (2020). No E commerce company has been able to create such a market place in industrial products so far. He added that Pumpkart would be whole selling products across verticals like appliances, electricals, electronics, hardware, construction material, hand tools, safety tools, pumps, valves, oils & lubricants, and all range of industrial products. Pumpkart would be a one-stop-shop for all these products covering 1000+ brands.  It would also provide facilities and services like 90 days credit and Pumpkart services.
Pumpkart has initially kept tie ups limited to a few large sized companies for supply of products, so that proper services are provided to the customers, who will be buyers like wholesellers, retailers, industry, builders, corporates etc.
K S  Bhatia shared further that we have opened 12 service centres till now in the region and this number will be increased to 25 by mid of April 2019, giving us presence in all big cities of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and the industrial belt of Baddi. The service back up to our customers will be our USP as this type of an offering is not available in the B2B E Commerce space.
It is noteworthy that K S Bhatia started Pumpkart in 2014 at Chandigarh. Pumpkart is growing fast and is an award winning start up, which has been appreciated by Google in 2015. Pumpkart was envisioned to solve the problem of Indian farmers and agricultural sector by providing pumps at fair market prices. The venture also served the industries pan India by providing them pumps and quality services. Pumpkart is now a trustworthy name among farmers, retailers and industries. Dr KK Talwar Conferred Rotary Shreyas Awards with Two Others

Panchkula 26th Feb, 2019:- Rotary District 3080 conferred the Rotary Shreyas Award on former Chairman of Medical Council of India and former Director PGIMER, Dr. K.K. Talwar here today. 
On the concluding day of the two-days District 3080 conference, the award was presented to Dr K K Talwar by the former Governor of Uttrakhand, Dr. K.K. Paul, for his contribution to the medical science. 
A father-daughter duo, Ajeet and Diya Bajaj was also conferred the Shreyas Award, who have conquered highest peaks including Mt Everest, around the world and have made India proud for their endurance and adventure. 
The third awardee Dr Vandana Shiva, a noted environmentalist, author of several books on eco system and engaged with Chipko movement was also presented the award in absentia since she could not make it due to her sister's indisposition. 
Dr K.K. Paul congratulated the awardees and commended Rotary for honouring excellence.  
He said that Rotary could make a difference in helping India its millenium goals in which it has lagged compared to neighbouring countries, especially in the areas of maternal and infant mortality. 
He also suggested Rotary to celebrate 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi worldwide since his message of peace and tolerance have universal relevance. 
Dr K.K. Talwar in his acceptance address asked Rotary to also address the issue of drug abuse among youth. 
The Rotary International President's Representative at this District Conference, Haresh Ramchandani from Jamaica said that it is time for Rotary to innovate to bring in more and more young professionals and business people to take up the global challenges that require to be addressed through more concerted efforts. 
Former world president of Rotary International Rajendra K. Saboo, and Ian Riseley from Australia also addressed the participating Rotarians.
