St. Joan’s Public School Zirakpur Hosts its Annual Day

Chandigarh 04th December:- In order to spread the message of love, compassion ,  serenity and non violence, St. Joan’s Public School, Zirakpur hosted its annual day celebration on Dec 3, 2016 at Tagore Theatre with the musical presentation “Gautam The Buddha”, an epitome of peace  and compassion .MLA of Zirakpur N.K. Sharma was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Manoj Verma, Senator, PU; Vandana Saxena ,Principal, Tribune School and Jasbir Nindra , Former Principal, Govt model school Sector-40 were the guest of honors on this occasion. 
The show was inaugurated with the tradition of lightening the lamp.The various scenes like the birth of Sidhartha , his marriage with Yashodhra & acquaintance with the realities of life and his enlightenment were brought alive by the students . The   veils of ignorance removed and attaining the enlightment was sheerly presented at the end which grabbed the attention of everyone. Many classical & fusion dances .were appreciated by the audience. Abhay Gupta enacted as Gautam Buddha and Thamesh Kumar Thakur as young Siddhartha.
M.D. of school R.K. Nayyar, Advisor Professor J.P.S Nindra and Consultant Deepak Dhingra addressed the press conference in the afternoon. The purpose of this play was to make people learn the teachings and learning of Gautam Buddha. The whole act was directed by Madam Guha & written by Hema Singh by school teachers. It took 3 months to prepare this musical play which had a fusion of dance and dialogues in it. The participation of more than 400 students of the school mesmerized the spectators.


Public Health Researcher from PGI Awarded Prestigious Fellowship

Chandigarh 04th December:- Dr. Venkatesan Chakrapani, M.D., a PGI Research Fellow registered in the PhD programme under Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Professor and Head of the Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, has received a highly competitive and prestigious Senior Public Health Research Fellowship of the Welcome Trust/DBT India Alliance. He is awarded this fellowship in support of his five-year public health research program on sexual and gender minorities that aims to identify how health inequalities are produced, and what can be done to reduce such health inequalities. The fellowship support for this five-year research program in three cities (Chandigarh, Mumbai and Chennai) will be about 4.7 crores.
Dr. Chakrapani’s research program will use new theoretical frameworks such as syndemics theory and intersectionality perspective to understand the health inequalities, especially HIV risk. The research program will result in better understanding of health inequalities and contribute to reduction of health inequalities and HIV risk, key areas in public health field.

नगर निगम चुनाव: वार्ड नंबर 14 के निर्दलीय उम्मीदवार भारत भूषण कपिला के समर्थन में जनसभा का आयोजन

Chandigarh 04th December:- चंडीगढ़ नगर निगम के 18 दिसंबर  को होने जा रहें  चुनावो को  लेकर निगम के वार्ड  नंबर 14 (सेक्टर 45 व् बुडैलके निर्दलीय उम्मीदवार भारतभूषण कपिला ( टोनी )के  समर्थन में आज सेक्टर 45 सी  में एक  जन सभा का आयोजन किया गया I
 इस मौके पर श्री भारत भूषण कपिला ने सेक्टर वासियों को भरोसा दिलाया के अगर वो चुनाव जीतते है तो हर वक्त उनकी समस्याओं को हल करवाने के लिए उपलब्ध रहेंगे Iउन्होंने कहा कि सेक्टर में जो कार्य पिछले पंद्रह सालो में नहीं हुए उनको वह अपने पार्षदकाल में करके दिखलायेंगे I श्री कपिला ने कहा कि उन्होंने सेक्टर वासियों की मांग पर हीयह चुनाव लड़ने का फैंसला किया I इस मौके पर मौजूद सेक्टरवासियों ने श्री कपिला को अपने इलाके की समस्याओं से अवगत करवायाजनसभा में कमल शर्मादिलबाग सिंह,पंकज बंसलमोहिंदर 
भारद्धाजशिव कौशिक , संजीव शर्मा और  विशाल शर्मा समेंत भरी संख्या में महिलाये व् अन्य लोग भी

Chandigarh 04th December:- चंडीगढ़ नगर निगम के 18 दिसंबर को होने जा रहे चुनावो को लेकर निगम के वार्ड नंबर 21 से कांग्रेस पार्टी के उम्मीदवार जतिंदर भाटिया ने आज सेक्टर 32 कि टेनामेंट्स कलोनी में एक पदयात्रा निकालकर इलाकावासियों से अपने हक में वोट डालने की अपील कीI इस मौके पर उनके साथ पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री पवन बंसल के सपुत्र मनीष बंसल भी मौजूद थे। उन्होंने टेनामेंट्स कलोनी में घर घर जाकर लोगों से संपर्क साधा और अपने पक्ष में मतदान करने की अपील कीI

जतिंदर भाटिया ने कहा की वह दो बार सेक्टर 47, 48 से पार्षद रह चुके है व् वार्ड नंबर 22 से उनके पार्षदकाल के दौरान किये गए विकास कार्यो को देख कर और उनपर विश्वास करके स्थानक वासी उन्हें इस बार इन चुनावों में भारी बहुमत से विजयी बनायेI इस मौके पर उनके साथ ओ पी जिंदल, बलविंदर सिंह, ओम प्रकाश गुप्ता, विक्टर सिद्धू, भजन कौर, धर्म पाल, डी डी शर्मा और भारी संख्या में पार्टी समर्थक भी शामिल थे I  

Punjab Kala Bhavan Reverberates with Revolutionary Songs of Sant Ram Udasi

Chandigarh 04th December:- The Randhawa Auditorium of the Punjab Kala Bhavan resounded with revolutionary songs of Sant Ram Udasi sung by the people who carry on his legacy. The event was organised by the Malwa Cultural and Welfare Society as part of its annual function. Punjab Sangeet Natak Akademi was the co-sponsor. SGPC member Jathedar Karnail Singh Panjoli was the chief guest.
The programme started with Jugraj Dhaula lending his voice to the spirited writings of one of the most popular revolution writers of not too distant a time. Udasi’s daughter Iqbal Kaur represents the legacy of her father by singing his songs. It may be mentioned that Udasi was not only a writer but also revolutionary singer. Other singers included Karamjit Anmol, Sukhwinder Sukhi and Prof Simnranjit Kaur.

16 Athletes Qualify from Chandigarh District Trials of NYCS GAILRAFTAR Season II

Chandigarh 04th December:- 16 young athletes were shortlisted at the Chandigarh district trials of NYCS GAILRAFTAR season II held today at the Sports Complex Sector-7, Chandigarh. The selected athletes will compete in the Zonal Trials to be held early next year. The event was part of the initiative taken by National Yuva Cooperative Society (NYCS) as part of nationwide campaign to find out athletes for 2020/2024 Olympics.
A total of 600 kids from Chandigarh and nearby places participated in the trials out of which 16 qualified (12 Boys & 4 Girl) for the Zonal Trials.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Sanjay Tandon, (Independent Director of the Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) and BJP City Unit President and Dr. Subhas Sharma (Secretary, BJP, Punjab).
Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay Tandon said that this is a great initiative providing a huge platform to the deserving young talent. The extensive outreach programme this season will help scout the hidden talent from the interiors of the country. He is sure that long term grassroots programme such as this, will help generate a talent pool which will potentially bring glory for India in track events at the highest echelon of sporting events-the Olympics 2020/2024 and beyond.
NYCS GAIL Raftaar is a Pan India Athletic Talent Scouting for Olympics 2020 and 2024, supported by GAIL (India) Limitedand executed by the National Yuva Cooperative Society among the age group of 11-17 years in 100m, 200m and 400m track events. National Yuva Cooperative Society has tied up with M/s Anglian Medal Hunt Company as its Technical Partner for the project.
At the initial stage of selection process, trials at district level are conducted in 100 shortlisted districts under the guidance of coaches and selectors appointed by the committee and selection will be based on talent identification and criteria set by the committee. The district trials will be followed by Zonal Trials and then National Trials from which top 9 athletes will be selected who will be provided with a world class coaching with an ultimate objective to prepare them to represent India at the 2020/2024 Olympics.
The National Selection Committee for this season will be headed by the legendary P.T. Usha and Sriram Singh along with other eminent members like Olympians Rachita Mistry, Anuradha Biswal, Asian and Commonwealth Games medalist Kavita Raut and V. Murlidharan. The committee will beresponsible for creating the selection criteria for the program and developing the training plan and module for the selected athletes at the National Level.
