Free Cycles Worth Rs. 2 Crore 79 Lacs 32 Thousand 423 Distributed to 10403 Girl Students under Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme in District:D S Mangat

Chandigarh 03rd August:- To improve the girl education scenario of the state, during 2011-12, Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme was initiated by Punjab Govt. where in under the scheme free cycles worth Rs. 2 crore 79 lacs 32 thousand 423 stands distributed to 10403 girl students in the district. Stating this Deputy Commissioner D.S. Mangat said that free cycles to 241 girl students will be distributed tomorrow on 04th august by Industries & Commerce Minister Punjab Madan Mohan Mittal during a district level function at Shivalik Public School Phase 6, where he will mark presence as a Chief Guest.
Deputy Commissioner D.S. Mangat said that during the current financial year 2214 free cycles will be distributed to the girl students of Govt., Adarsh & Govt. Model schools. He said that during year 2011-12 free cycles worth Rs. 89 lacs 45 thousand 300 were distributed to 3316 girl students of class 11th & 12th. Meanwhile during 2013-14, free cycles worth Rs. 88 lacs 58 thousand 123 were distributed to 3224 girl students. Similarly during year 2015-16, free cycles worth Rs. 1 crore 1 lacs 29 thousand were distributed to 3863 girl students. He said that during the district level function, Minster Industries & Commerce Madan Mohan Mittal will distribute cycles to 148 students of Govt. Senior Secondary School (Girls) Sohana and to 93 girl students of Govt. Senior Secondary School Phase 3 B -2 SAS Nagar.
D.S. Mangat said that positive outcome in the state has achieved from the Mai Bhago Vidya scheme initiated by Punjab Govt. The scheme was initiated by Punjab Govt. to improve the girl education scenario by providing a commuting means for the girl students to continue their studies and to motivate them for higher education. The scheme has shown special results in the rural areas, as there are less means of commuting therefore free cycles distributed under the scheme has made it possible for the girl student to continue their studies after basic schooling.
During this Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Bhupinder Singh said that all requisite arrangements for the district level function to be held at Shivalik Public School have been ensured.
