April:- ‘India’s much anticipated and most rigorous
brand evaluation, The Brand Trust Report – India Study 2017, a measure of the
trust held in brands through their proprietary scientific tool, The Brand Trust
Matrix, has been released by TRA Research (a Comniscient Group company). The
three most trusted brands in India, Samsung, Sony, and LG, are based out of
Delhi. Samsung, the Consumer Electronics giant, leaped 17 ranks from its 2016
rank to reach the top spot in this year's listings; Sony, ranked second, and
LG, ranked third, maintained their 2016 rankings. Apple ranks as India's fourth
Most Trusted Brand, rising 12 ranks from 2016. Holding on to its rank of last
year, brand Tata’s trust defies the temporary imbroglio it faced and stays
steady on fifth rank. The sixth and seventh positions are held by Honda and
Maruti-Suzuki respectively. Dell is at 8th and Lenovo, climbing 18 ranks from
2016, features in the 9th position in the list. Bajaj, a brand that has been in
the top 10 in five out of the seven reports, comes in at the 10th position in the
India's Most Trusted Brands list.
Some
Delhi-based brands that have made significant strides are: Patanjali, having
taken the long leap from rank 173 in 2016 to fifteenth rank this year, which
leads the FMCG super-category. American Express comes in at rank 130 and is
also the leader in the Credit/Debit Card category. Hero Motocorp ranks 256 in
the All India listings and Kent, the Water Purifier brand that ranks 270, is
also a category leader in the report. Another category leader, Muthoot Finance,
from the BFSI – Financial Services category, ranked 274, is also based out of
the national capital. The other brands featuring from Delhi are Olx.in, ranked
315; Luminous, ranked 498 (also a category leader among Invertors/ Batteries);
Bikanervala, ranked 531; Fortis, ranked 763 (also a leader in the Hospitals
category); and Livpure, ranked 880.
N.
Chandramouli, CEO, TRA Research, said on the occasion of the Report’s launch
that Samsung’s 17-rank leap to top position and the
12-rank climb of Apple to fourth rank over last year are significant. He shared
further that among the top ten this year, four brands have gained ranks, five
brands have retained their last year’s ranks, and one brand has fallen in rank.
Of the 2016 list, four brands slipped out of the top ten of 2017, namely
Samsung Mobiles, Nokia, Godrej, and ICICI Bank. Also, it is more and more
noticeable that NCR
is steadily becoming the brand capital of India, with several leading brands
located out of here.
N.
Chandramouli
added that some of the important category
leaders in Brand Trust are Bata—All India rank 12—from Personal Accessories,
State Bank of India—All India rank 13—from BFSI, Patanjali—All India rank
15—from FMCG, Airtel—All India rank 16—from Telecom, Amul—All India rank 21—from
