Mathematics Day was celebrated today by the Post Graduate Department of
Mathematics, SGGS College, Chandigarh. Principal Dr. Jyoti Lamba welcomed the
Chief Guest Dr. S. K. Tomar, Professor, Department of Mathematics, Panjab
University, Chandigarh. Gurdev Singh Brar, I.A.S.(Retd.), President, Sikh
Educational Society (SES) and Col. (Retd.) J. S. Bala, Secretary, SES presided
over the inaugural session of the function. Various Students accompanied with
their faculty member from other colleges also participated in the events like
mathematics quiz, extempore, poster making etc.

Brar motivated the students towards academic enrichment. Dr. S. K. Tomar
discussed diverse applications of mathematics in daily life. Former Principal
Prof. H. S. Sohi presided over the valedictory function. Prizes were given to
the winners & runner up participants. Prof. H. S. Maan, Head, Post Graduate
Department of Mathematics extended vote of thanks for the successful
accomplishment of the event.
