Dumping Ground Creating Health Hazards for the Residents of Chandigarh: Prof. Devi Sirohi

Chandigarh 13th May:- Prof. Devi Sirohi, an independent candidate in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections, a known academician, social activist with administrative experience  who has been working at the grass root levels  specifically addressing children’s issues and violence against women.
While interacting here with media Prof. Devi Sirohi, said that her campaigning process for the upcoming elections also commenced long before the prominent political parties, wherein she has been able to personally contact and meet almost every residents of Chandigarh by going from door to door. The approach adopted by her is not a new strategy but a method she believes is essential in order to connect to people and promises to continue if elected. Seen frequently in different sections of Chandigarh such as public parks, lake, colonies, sectors, markets etc. Prof. Devi Sirohi has been able to build a deep understanding of the various concerns of the people from different strata’s of society. Going forward, she believes in collectively working ‘with’ the people in order to ensure not just development but also empowerment. Being a permanent resident of Manimajra, she guarantees to remain accessible to the needs of the public and collectively find solutions to any problems that they may be facing.
She said that some of the issues on her agenda includes: Quality education and creating infrastructure at the primary, secondary and higher levels. She has also highlighted the meager budget for education in Chandigarh which is merely 1.5% of the total budget, Dumping ground creating health hazards for the residents of Chandigarh, Establishment of well organized health centers with infrastructure facilities, Resettle and rehabilate slum populations, Tackling drug addiction in youth through awareness and de-addiction centers, Safety for women, Employment for youth in formal and informal sector, Opening of vocational centers for women, Improve the public transport system by constructing metro/mono rail, Ensure Ownership rights for residents, Promote renewable energy specifically solar to combat climate change and high electricity bills, Maintain roads and parks in sectors and colonies, Reservation for children/wives of armed/paramilitary forces who died as  martyrs  for the nation and policies to be formulated to improve the working conditions of contract workers/employees/teachers.
She said that she tries to touch or cover every agenda, which related to Chandigarh residents. If given a chance and public of the Chandigarh elected her she will definitely try to solve every agenda in a short span of time.
Her symbol, bucket, symbolically represents the clean politics she intends to pursue along with focusing on a healthy and prosperous living environment for all the residents of Chandigarh.
