Chandigarh 28th July:- Dr Virendar Sarwal, Director & Head, deptt of Cardio
Thoracic & Vascular Surgery at Max Hospital Mohali has been awarded with
prestigious International membership of ‘The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS)
, USA on his credentials of academics and surgical work experience. He
was presented the certification by Dr. Sushil Gupta, president of IMA, Chandigarh
Chapter at IMA here today.
Founded in 1964, STS is a
not-for-profit organization, representing more than 7,200 surgeons,
researchers, and allied health care professionals worldwide who are dedicated
to ensuring the best possible outcomes for surgeries of the heart, lung, and
esophagus, as well as other surgical procedures within the chest.
The annual
conference will be held now in Texas USA in January 2017. Its prestigious
membership of the society which is playing a key role in improving the quality
care for patients worldwide. The STS score is a parameter of risk profiling for
all patients going for surgery. It maintains the largest registry of cardiac
surgery patients worldwide. It holds conferences and technical skill update
workshops throughout the year where all members are part of it and also all the
members have access to its prestigious journal on cardiac surgery The Annals of
Thoracic Surgery. The membership application is thoroughly scanned and based on
the feedback from references of stalwarts in cardiac surgery and evaluation of
the clinical work only this membership is granted which is further passed the
board members before selection.
