Chandigarh 10th April:- Dev Samaj College for Women Sec-45/B, Chandigarh held Maat-Pita
Santan Diwas (Parents Day) function to acknowledge the selfless love
which parents bestow on their children. The programme started with the
auspicious lighting of the lamp followed by the college prayer. Several
students including Shubhi, Asha and Ramanpreet expressed their gratitude
towards their parents and their sentiments wrapped in emotional words not only
captivated the audience but touched every heart. There was recitation of
self-composed poems by Kavya, Shabana and Seerat to pay respect and homage to
their parents. Deepika of BCA 2nd year acknowledged her
parents’ support when she was extremely distressed due to her bad performance
in the semester exam. A special garland ceremony was also held to honour the
parents. The parents were elated and felt proud of their children. The function
gave a platform to the students to acknowledge their parents’ efforts and there
was an outburst of emotions at various moments.
Maat-Pita
Santan Diwas holds immense
importance for Dev Samaj family. This unique ceremony is held every year to
inculcate values and sense of respect and appreciation for parents.
The Chief Guest for
the function, Dr Nandita Shukla Singh, Dean International Students, Panjab
University, Chandigarh, was impressed to see that even in today’s world such
valuable ethics are imparted in Dev Samaj institutions.

Dhillon Ji, Chairman, DSCW Managing Committee, highlighted the incidents from
the life of Bhagwan Dev Atma, the founder of Dev Samaj, that inspires us to be
ever grateful towards our parents. Dr Agnese Dhillon, Secretary, DSCW Managing
committee, was also present.
Dr Jaspal Kaur,
Principal of the college welcomed the Chief Guest and apprised the students of
the value system incorporated in Dev Samaj family.
