Cleaning up for Mother Earth on Mother’s Day: Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at Amritsar by Bunge India

Amritsar 15th May:- While most celebrated Mothers' day with their biological mums, at Amritsar today gathered a group of young and old to commemorate the day with a special mother. The initiative was organized under the aegis of Dhab Wasti Ram Traders Association and was wholeheartedly supported by Bunge India, manufacturers of Dalda Refined Oils and Dalda Vanaspati Ghee.
Since nature also plays a vital role in life-giving and nurturing, therefore embodying the form of a mother, a group of 50-odd members collected 30 odd carts of wet and dry waste in the streets of Dhab Vasti Ram area in an initiative to keep Mother Earth as pristine as possible.
Prashant Mohan, Head Marketing, Bunge India P Ltd said that our Earth in Indian culture is considered to be mother; isn't it our responsibility then, to look after our mothers.
The cleanliness drive under the banner, ‘Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan' began at 8:00am, as enthusiastic group members hand-picked waste, bottles, plastic, pieces of broken glass etc to clear the area. The group included sales team members across Punjab of Bunge India, representatives Ankush Arora from M/s Jagdish Trading & Kanwar Dhingra from M.S Agro Foods, Distributors for Bunge India & members of Dhab Wasti Ram Traders Association.
When asked why the of Dhab Vasti Ram area was chosen as the site, Devinder Sharma, Sales Manager, said that grain Markets, Anaj Mandi’s & Sabzi Mandi’s often are found to be the places with lot of neglect & at times residents hesitate in visiting such places because of garbage, dust and poor upkeep. We did a similar exercise in Dhab Wasti Ram area only last year to inculcate a habit of cleanliness amongst the shopkeepers & this time we are here to reinforce the Nation’s Call of Swacch Bharat as part of our CSR program. He also informed that Grain Market areas already been covered under the initiative include Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Yamunanagar, Panipat, Ambala City & Ambala Cantt. He said that in future too Bunge India will continue to associate with various market associations in other cities to do similar activities.
Besides this drive, the group also organized a Panel Discussion on Environment and Swachhata March / Rally and a plethora of co-curricular activities were organized to raise awareness about waste management and encourage others to create a more sustainable and healthy living space.


‘Mother’s Day’ Celebration: 101-yr ‘Miracle Mom’ Takes Part in Ramp Walk

Chandigarh 15th May:- To mark ‘Mothers Day’, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Mohali organized an infotainment carnival with an aim of ‘Pampering Motherhood’ at a hotel here today.
During occasion, a health awareness talks, talent show, interactive sessions and a specular ‘Ramp Walk’ were held where soon-mothers-to-be and mothers of kids less than of 2-year from tricity participated.
The star of show and chief guest was Man Kaur, a famous 101-yr old international personality from Chandigarh who has been dubbed ‘Miracle Mom from Chandigarh’  after winning 100-meter sprint at the World Masters Games in Auckland recently . The win was her 17th gold medal in her remarkable late-blooming athletic career.
Narrating her journey, Man Kaur said that she took up athletics only eight years ago at the tender age of 93, she had no prior supporting experience before her son suggested she join him in competing on the International Masters Games Circuit.
During occasion, Dr Seema Sharma Associate Director, Gynaecology said that pregnancy and childbirth are one of the most challenging milestones of a woman's life which takes its toll on her physical, emotional, mental & professional life.
Dr  Seema Sharma further revealed that she has launched a social networking group, ‘Blessed  Moms’  which offer support services to mothers to combat this major health problem. The group which has over 300 mothers as members is a platform for mothers to get the desired support they need most during pregnancy & postpartum period.
The group includes gynecologists, child specialist, lactation experts, nutritionists and physiotherapist and of course the Mothers themselves who offer each other 24x7 supports to cope up with health and child rearing issues.
Sandeep Dogra, Senior Vice President and Zonal Head of Max Hospitals, Punjab said that Max is committed to the cause of upliftment of women’s health and safe Motherhood by organizing regular Antenatal workshops for expecting parents.
Meanwhile the programme started with felicitation of some well-known female personalities including Divya Khera an entrepreneur and a well-known fiction and non-fiction writer for television and film industry. Divya was honored as she has set an example by achieving this stature despite being a mother of 3 from a small town.
Rinku Malik, choreographer and Director Rhythm Dance Academy and Anju Sharma, winner of Max Mom Contest both young mothers, enchanted the audience with their performance during occasion.

Max Hospital organizes Mega Health Check Up Camp at Nurpur Bedi

Nurpur Bedi 15th May:- Under its corporate social responsibility, Max Super Specialty Hospital , Mohali has organized a free mega multi-specialty health camp at Gurudwara Saini Majra, Nurpur Bedi today. Around 110 people of town reached at camp and availed the multi-specialty health facilities from a team of doctors from hospital.
The camp was organized in an association of Senior Citizen Council, Nurpur Bedi. The doctors’ team that included Dr. Ranjit singh from Internal Medicine, Dr. Dev Sharma, Physiotherapist, Dr. Saruchi Malhotra, an Eye Specialist and Dr. Ravandeep Kaur, Dietician addressed the healthcare needs of people during camp. Free investigations like blood sugar, blood pressure and ECG, on recommendation were also offered during camp.

Amit Shah to Attend Karyakarta Vistarak Yojana in Chandigarh

Chandigarh 15th May:- The BJP party workers are not leaving any stone unturned to effectively organize Amit Shah's visit to the city beautiful Chandigarh and to make his visit a gala event. Bhartiya Janata Party's National President is visiting Chandigarh on May 20, 2017 as part of the Karyakarta Vistarak Yojana. 
Amit Shah will be visiting different states throughout the country during his 95-day campaign and to segregate the duties and to discuss the plan of action a meeting was organized  at BJP's Chandigarh office which was led by Arvind Menon, Senior National BJP Leader and was accompanied by Amit Malviya, National Convener, BJP IT department. 
Apart from the councilors the senior party leaders who attended the meeting included Sanjay Tandon, BJP State President, Chandigarh, Prem Kaushik, General Secretary, Chander Shekhar General Secretary, and Asha Jaswal, Mayor, MC, Chandigarh. 
While addressing the attendees in the meeting Arvind  Menon said that it is very important to aware people of the ideology or the party. To commemorate Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhayay's birth anniversary various Karyakarta Vistarak programmes will be held throughout the country to strengthen party presence and to expand its network and Amit Shah will himself travel to different states to interact with the party workers and followers in these states. Amit Shah will be on a 95-day campaign wherein he will be meeting and interacting with the party workers and senior leaders to discuss the party expansion plans.
He also informed that Amit Shah has already visited Himachal Pradesh, J&K, and Tripura under this programme and he will be visiting Chandigarh for 2-days under this campaign. 
All the attendees have been assigned their duties which have to be successfully accomplished by the members before May 20, 2017. 
Arvind Menon also informed that the party has seen growth in the number of members since BJP took over charge at the centre under the leadership of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that technology has played a pivotal role in strengthening party presence in the country and it is assisting more and more people to get associated with the party. The party is launching new public welfare schemes and is connecting with more and more people. It is the responsibility of all the party workers to successfully accomplish this goal to connect to more and more people across the country. 
Sanjay Tandon apprised the party workers of their responsibilities with regards to the visit plan of the National President on May 20. He also informed that Amit Shah will be visiting different departments and projects during his visit to the city. He will be interacting with party workers, councilors, office bearers,  Morcha Presidents and other senior leaders of the party. He will discuss the party vision and will guide the workers to successfully execute party expansion.

Electricity department Chandigarh, Filling up the vacant posts of promotional as well as direct quota without further delay,  Removal of pay anomalies of senior and junior employees working as ALM’s (The case of 93 Vs.94  batches), Offer of appointment to the next kin of deceased employees by scrapping 5% cealing on Punjab / PSPCL pattern, To check the increasing accidents & grant compensation to the dependent of the deceased  & those who become permanent disabled while working / performing duties (the case of  Vinay Kumar RTM), Amendments in recruitment rules of class I, II, III, IV categories of officers/ officials of electricity wing of Engineering Department U.T. Chandigarh, Setting up of centralize pay structure of U.T. Electricity Employees so as to check the pay parity etc., Renovations of Houses of Electricity colonies as per revised norms by providing sufficient budget as well as men and materials for maintenance and repair works, Restoration of electricity concession of the employees as per previous practice through bills instead of cash payment, Providing fault Locator Van, Boom Ladders & Procurement of material i.e. transformers cables, joints, meters, conductors, fuse wires, tubes, chocks etc. in the department so as to serve the public and provide uninterrupted power supply to the valuable consumers, Providing T & P, safety devices, uniforms, soap & oil to the field staff & stationary in offices, sitting arrangements and drinking water facilities in offices, 66 KV & 33 KV substations and complaint centers, Restrain the officers of electricity department for compelling the employees to do the jobs other than their assigned duties & stop the field staff to work in offices, The employees appointed through outsource agencies particularly the categories of LDC, Linemen & ALM’s be taken under the direct control of the department as they have been appointed against sanctioned posts by taking departmental exams and further request to release the salary of the said employees before 7th of each month against salary  budged till their adjustment, Extension of services of 37 nos. of lorry drivers engaged through PESCO against HTV category instead of LMV category through another agency so as to avoid exploitation, Stoppage of pick & choose transfers of employees particularly the categories of Junior Engineers & peons (representation submitted), Fair & transparent transfer policy be framed of all categories of employees & officers including Superintending Engineer and till then all the transfers be stopped in public interest, Withdrawal of show cause notices issued to the ALM’s of various batches without any reasons regarding their promotion / appointment cases.    
The leaders while strongly condemned the negative attitude of the authority said that on the advice given by the Home Secretary U.T. Chandigarh, after serving the strike notice the S.E. Electricity and Chief Engineer called the delegation and started the negotiations but the most important demands of the employees still rename unresolved as the meeting has been called in the sake of formality and no sincere efforts have been made to implement the pending demands. Therefore union is firm to observe 17th May, 2017 strike and blame that negative attitude of the authorities of the Chandigarh Administration is fully responsible for any  inconvenience to the public due to strike.


Sant Nirankari Mission observe First Death Anniversary of Baba Hardev Singh Maharaj as ‘Samarpan Diwas’

Chandigarh 15th May:- The Sant Nirankari Mission in India and abroad observed the first death anniversary of their former Spiritual Head, Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj, as ‘Samarpan Diwas’ and paid tributes to his glorious contribution towards the service of humanity. In Delhi, a huge Samagam was held in the benign presence of Nirankari Satguru Mata Savinder Hardev Ji Maharaj which was attended by thousands of devotees not only from Delhi NCR but also from Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula, and  Punjab, Haryana many other parts of the country and abroad many other parts of the country and abroad.
On this ‘Samarpan Diwas’, every devotee of the Mission sought to dedicate him or herself to take the Mission to those heights where Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj wanted to see it.  They pledged to work unitedly under the benign guidance of the present Spiritual Head, Satguru Mata Savinder Hardev Ji Maharaj.
Addressing the gathering, Satguru Mata Ji said that Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj dedicated each and every moment of his life to humanity. While leading this Mission for 36 years, he taught the lesson of accepting the will of God and adjusts oneself with the circumstances even when they may not be favorable. He always advised the devotees to leave every negativity of life and seek noble values in the company of saints.
Her Holiness said that Baba Ji had lot of respect for everybody during his early life and continued to give the same respect to every devotee even as their spiritual master. He treated them as his own family and loved and cared for all as such. Her Holiness narrated several stories from Baba Ji’s life to show that he had lot of patience and perseverance. He did not mind any inconvenience during his spiritual tours.
Referring to Avneet Setia Ji who also left his physical form along with Baba Ji on this day in 2016, Satguru Mata Ji said that he had deep feelings of love, devotion and tolerance and was always a source of encouragement to others. He advised everybody to attend congregation regularly.
Earlier, several saints from Delhi and other parts of India as also from abroad paid tributes to Baba Ji. They recalled the turbulent circumstances in which Baba Ji took over the spiritual command and said that he overcame the situation with his utmost tolerance and took the Mission ahead as the most peace loving movement of universal brotherhood. Several speakers referred to their personal experience during Baba Ji s visits in India and abroad and recalled how he took care of every devotee with love and kinship.

Gurukul School Student Vihaan Wins Chandigarh Kids’ Fashion Week Title

Chandigarh 15th May:- Vihaan Chaudhary, student of Gurukul School, Panchkula has won the coveted title of Chandigarh Kids’ Fashion Week (CKFW). Vihaan not only won the Title of CKFW, he was also adjudged as best dressed and heart stealer of show. The theme of the fashion event was ‘Mothers’ Day’.
NGO Aashman Foundation was also part of the show. Vihaan also won a free portfolio from member of jury Ms. Sakshi Nagpal and a brand shoot from Bittu Fashioners. Over 200 kids participated from as far as Kanpur, Sirsa, Delhi and all over North India in CKFW.
Singer Gavy Boparai & Director Preet Bodal were also present in the show where they released the poster of the Album featuring young Vihaan as model & which will be hitting Punjabi music channels on May 16.

It is noteworthy that Vihaan is also modeling in a Punjabi album of famous singer Preet Harpal and he has already done a shoot recently in Chennai for the same.

Three PGI Doctors Bags ICMR Awards

Chandigarh 15th May:- Three PGIMER faculty members have been awarded ICMR Awards for their achievements in their respective fields. Prof Deepak Bansal, Department of Paediatric Medicine has been awarded ‘Dr. P. N. Raju Oration Award’. Prof Sandeep Grover, Department of Psychiatry has been awarded ‘Dr Vidya Sagar Award’ and Dr. Sahajal Dhooria, Assistant Professor, Department of Pulmonary Medicine ‘Smt. Kamal Satbir Award’.
Indian council of medical research (ICMR) is the national agency for the promotion and conduct of biomedical research in India. The council announced awards for Indian scientists in recognition of their contributions made in various field of biomedical research.
Prof. Deepak Bansal was awarded the ‘Dr. P. N. Raju Oration Award’, for excellence in clinical research. He specializes in the field of cancer and blood diseases in children. Prof Deepak Bansal has worked on the side-effects of anti-cancer drug, ‘imatinib’. Poor growth was observed to be an adverse effect of imatinib in children with chronic myeloid leukemia, a type of blood cancer. The sub-optimal growth was shown to be a result of hormonal imbalance.

Dr. Sandeep Grover has been awarded Dr Vidya Sagar Award for the year 2016 for his research on mental illnesses.  Dr. Sandeep Grover has made some important contribution to enhance the existing state of knowledge regarding the impact of psychiatric disorders on patients and their family members, prevalence of metabolic syndrome in patients with severe mental disorders, clinical aspects delirium, consultation liaison Psychiatry, sexual dysfunction associated psychotropic medications and Dhat syndrome. He was earlier awarded Shakuntala Amir Chand Award of ICMR for the year 2013 and Tilak Venkoba Rao Award for the year 2007.
Dr. Sahajal Dhooria has been awarded the prestigious Smt. Kamal Satbir Award for his work on the role of endobronchial ultrasound in the diagnosis of mediastinal diseases. He represented India at the International Biology Olympiad 2000 held in Turkey and received the Silver Medal. He was awarded the Smt. Kirpal Kaur Medal for Best House Physician for the year 2007 at the AIIMS, New Delhi. He also received an award for high quality research on the Annual Research Day 2016 at the PGIMER, Chandigarh.
His research areas include interventional pulmonology, sarcoidosis, tuberculosis and diffuseparenchymal lung diseases. He also maintains keen interest in critical care and sleep medicine.
Dr. Sahajal Dhooria has about 104 publications to his credit in national and international journals and has also contributed chapters in national and international books.

ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਸਪਰਾ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ' ਮਿਡ ਡੇ ਮੀਲ ਸਕੀਮ ਅਧੀਨ 443 ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਇਮਰੀ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਦੇ 35 ਹਜਾਰ 566 ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਪਹਿਰ ਦਾ ਖਾਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ 223  ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਅੱਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਇਮਰੀ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਦੇ 21 ਹਜਾਰ 744 ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੁੰ ਇਸ ਸਕੀਮ ਅਧੀਨ ਦੁਪਹਿਰ ਦਾ ਖਾਣਾ ਮੁਹੱਈਆ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ  ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੁਪਹਿਰ ਦਾ ਖਾਣਾ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਇਮਰੀ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ 857 ਅਤੇ ਅੱਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਇਮਰੀ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ 501 ਕੁੱਕ-ਕਮ- ਹੈਲਪਰ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਰਾ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਇਮਰੀ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਖਾਣਾ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ 4.13 ਰੁਪਏ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਇਮਰੀ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਖਾਣਾ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ 6.18 ਰੁਪਏ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਬੱਚਾ, ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਦਿਨ ਦੇ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਨਾਲ ਖਾਣਾ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਕੁਕਿੰਗ ਕੌਸਟ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। 
ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਸਪਰਾ ਨੇ  ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਮਿਡ ਮੀਲ ਸਕੀਮ ਤਹਿਤ 7 ਕਰੋੜ 63 ਲੱਖ 50 ਹਜਾਰ 327 ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀ ਰਾਸ਼ੀ ਖਰਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ 5 ਕਰੋੜ 84 ਲੱਖ 21 ਹਜਾਰ 481 ਕੁਕਿੰਗ ਕੌਸਟ ਅਤੇ 1 ਕਰੋੜ 79 ਲੱਖ 28 ਹਜਾਰ 846 ਰੁਪਏ ਖਾਣਾ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕੁੱਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੈਲਰੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ' 67 ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੈਰ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਸਕਤੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਬਣਿਆ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਦੁਪਹਿਰ ਦਾ ਖਾਣਾ ਸਕੂਲੀ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਕੀ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਿਡ ਡੇ ਮੀਲ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਦੇਖ-ਰੇਖ ਹੇਠ ਕੁੱਕਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾਂ ਹੈ।  ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਸਪਰਾ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਿਡ ਡੇ ਮੀਲ ਅਤੇ ਐਨ.ਜੀ.. ਵੱਲੋਂ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਮਿਡ ਡੇ ਮੀਲ ਨਿਰੰਤਰ ਚੈਕ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਖਾਣਾ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਅਫਸਰ, ਉਪ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਅਫਸਰ, ਸਹਾਇਕ ਬਲਾਕ ਮੈਨੇਜਰ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਹੋਰ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਚੈਕ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਸਕੂਲੀ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਪਹਿਰ ਦਾ ਸਾਫ ਸੂਥਰਾ ਅਤੇ ਪੋਸਟਿਕ ਖਾਣਾ ਮਿਲਣ ਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਖਾਣੇ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ-ਸਮੇਂ ਸਿਵਲ ਸਰਜਨ ਸਾਹਿਬਜਾਦਾ ਅਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਗਠਿਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਟੀਮ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸੈਪਲ ਵੀ ਲਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਦੁਪਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਖਾਣੇ ਦੀ ਹਰ ਦਿਨ ਲਈ ਸੂਚੀ ਬਣਾਈ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਤਹਿਤ ਦੁਪਹਿਰ ਦਾ ਖਾਣਾ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
