FieldFresh Signs MoU with Punjab Agricultural University to Promote Crop Research

Chandigarh 13th October:- FieldFresh Foods, a joint venture between Bharti Enterprises & Del Monte Pacific Limited and Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) to carry out Corn Productivity Research Programme. The MoU follows the agreement signed recently between Cambridge University and Bharti Foundation to fund the research Programme. The MoU was signed by Yogesh Bellani, CEO, FieldFresh Foods and Dr. Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice Chancellor, Punjab Agricultural University.
The collaborative research will examine the relationship between the genetic make-up, environmental factors and crop management of corn in order to develop a production system that is more resilient and helps reduce production costs and greenhouse gas emissions.
Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Vice Chairman, Bharti Enterprises, said that agriculture is the primary source of livelihood for about 58 per cent of India’s population and investment in crop research would greatly benefit India farmers. This partnership with Punjab Agricultural University reiterates our commitment to promote agriculture to achieve sustainable and inclusive growth.
The three-year programme, to be funded by FieldFresh, will aim at enhancing corn crop yield and minimizing greenhouse gas emissions. Under the project, FieldFresh will also fund a Post-Doctoral Fellowship to conduct field trials at FieldFresh’s Agri Centre of Excellence (ACE) in Ladhowal (Ludhiana), Punjab, where the company is currently running various crop management trials and partners with farmers to improve overall crop economics. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will work under the mentorship of PAU Scientists.
Speaking on the partnership, Dr. Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice Chancellor, Punjab Agricultural University, said that the research programme aims to improve effectiveness of technology used in agriculture to increase productivity, and improve farmer wellbeing by providing better income prospects. IK Gujral Punjab Technical University Signs MoU with Brock University of Canada

Chandigarh 13th October:- IK Gujral Punjab Technical University has inked an agreement with Canada’s leading Government institution, Brock University of Canada to help students of its affiliated colleges to complete their further studies in Canada.
Dr. Buta Singh Sidhu, Dean Academic Studies of IKG PTU, who had been in Canada last month, announced this here today at a Symposium of Education Partnership Programme for its affiliated colleges.
Addressing over 20 representatives from its different affiliated colleges, Dr Sidhu said that the tripartite agreement has been signed by IKG PTU with the Brock University and the Canadian Immiigration Centre, one of the leading immigration and education facilitators of Canada, for lateral entry of the students in the bachelors and masters programme there.
Dr. Buta Singh Sidhu informed that the graduates from any of the PTU affiliated colleges would now be able to join advanced graduate or post-graduate programmes in their respective areas of specialization at the Brock University and would receive credit for their studies here, for which the PTU’s syllabus has already been mapped.
PTU had signed up an MoU last year with the University of Fraser Valley, and now after Brock University intends to bring on board several more leading institutions of Canada including Kwantlen Polytech University, and University of Northern British Columbia, Dr Sidhu added.
Parvinder Burn, founder and CEO of Canadian Immigration Centre, from Canada, who has facilitated the collaboration, informed that the students have a clear advantage of saving on fee besides getting the opportunity to work in Canada with three-year work permit which can be availed after the completion of their studies. He further informed that those desirous of acquiring prestigious international qualifications and working abroad can take the safest route through this programme. PGI Faculty Gets Prestigious Prof Shurveer Singh Trust Memorial Medical Scientist Award

Chandigarh 13th October:- Dr Sanjay Kumar Bhadada, additional professor, Deptt of Endocrinology,PGI, Chandigarh received prestigious Prof. Shurveer Singh Trust (Udaipur, Rajasthan)  memorial Medical Scientist Award for year 2016. This award is given in recognition of tireless dedication and contribution in the field of Endocrinology & Metabolism to a medical graduate from Rajasthan. Dr Sanjay Kumar Bhadada delivered his oration at RNT Medical College, Udaipur.  This award includes a certificate and cash prize of 10,000 rupees. Dr Bhadada has given this award for his work on primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT), it includes first national on line PHPT registry (www.indianphptregistry.com). Results from online registry showed, PHPT is systemic and still symptomatic disease in India compared to western counter parts.

DC Flags off Environment Awareness Vans to Educate Farmers Against Stubble Burning

Chandigarh 13th October:- The SAS Nagar Deputy Commissioner Daljit Singh Mangat today flagged off four ‘Environment Awareness Vans’ to be operated by the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) to sensitize the farmers about the ill effects of stubble burning on human as well as environmental health of the State.
On the occasion, D S Mangat appealed to the farmers to desist from burning the paddy residue as it has posed a major threat to ecological balance of the State causing major health and environmental problems. The farmers should adopt new techniques developed by the agricultural scientists for whom the State Government provides 50 percent subsidy, he added. D S Mangat called upon the departments concerned to be more vigilant and take stern action against the erring persons.
The PPCB Environmental Engineer Surinder Singh Matharu said  that under this state wide campaign launched from today against stubble burning,  the PPCB would  operate two ‘Environment Awareness Vans’ in every district  during the ongoing paddy season to create awareness among farmers by specially designed audio package based on Gurbani and Punjabi folk idiom. He said that these vans will reach every nook and corner of the State including fields to deliver the message direct to the farmers who are indulging in the practice of stubble burning, he said.    
It is pertinent to mention here that the  Supreme Court designated Environment Protection Control Authority has directed Punjab and Haryana governments in meeting held in the last week at Chandigarh to chalk out the comprehensive program to achieve the target of zero tolerance to the menace stubble burning.

Health Deptt.Conducts Inspection and Sampling of Food Articles

Chandigarh 13th October:- A joint team of Food Safety Officers Bharat Kanojia, Surinder Pal Singh & Bhaljinder Singh was constituted in lieu of the coming festival season for conducting inspection and sampling of food articles in Chandigarh. The team inspected Kailash Sweets, Nanak Sweets and New Kesri Sweets of Sector 19, Chandigarh today and seized three samples of sweets. The said seized samples have been sent to the Food Analyst Laboratory for analysis & examination. The Food vendors were also instructed to keep hygiene and quality standards as per Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006. Three improvement notices were also issued to these shops for not maintaining the hygienic conditions. Anupam Kher Release ‘Two Great Masters’ Book

Forewords to the book have been given by eminent personalities like T.N.Chaturvedi, a Padamvibhushan Awardee, former Governor of Kerala and Karnataka, Member Parliament and ex Comptroller and Auditor General of India, A.D.N.Bajpayee, Vice-Chancellor, H.P.University Shimla and Philip Goldberg,  Author of American Veda, Los Angeles, USA.
Set in the backdrop of the queen of hills, Shimla, the romantic, inspiring and enchanting story of three young research scholars interweaves practical wisdom of the two great masters in the successful navigation of human lives. Interestingly recently Anupam Kher has lent his voice to a docu-drama based on the life of Paramahansa Yogananda, regarded as Father of Yoga in the west. The film ‘Awake’ was directed by two Americans.
He said that the Directors of the film made him do some yoga and meditation before every recording session. They wanted a puritan approach to the film. What a nice way of conveying pure feelings to the viewers of the movie!  Kher became voice of Yogananda in the movie.
 He truly feels that India should be proud of its spiritual heritage, “We have taken our gurus for granted. We think spirituality comes easily to us, because the gurus belong to India. I feel every Indian should know what great men our country has produced; they should know gurus like Swami Vivekananda and Yogananda. They were the spiritual ambassadors of India. And they are still India’s spiritual treasure. I would love to play him on the big screen if a biopic is ever made on his life.

Details of the upcoming literary extravaganza were shared by Mitul Dikshit, Chairman, Adab Foundation and the young & acclaimed Author Annie Zaidi, who is CLF 2016’s Festival Director too. 
Mitul Dikshit said that each year, we invite India's leading literary critics to nominate a book of their choice. During the festival this year, the critic-author duos will bunker down on stage and unpack the nominated books one by one. He added that there will be no panel discussions, etc. just session upon session focused on book upon book.” Adds Dikshit, “Besides the books, each year we also invite 4 of the leading film critics of the country to nominate a film each. This year, the films nominated are ‘Pink’, ‘Piku’, ‘Raman and Raghav’ & ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’.
Festival Director Annie Zaidi said that the festival will kick off with awarding of a Lifetime Achievement Award to Kiran Nagarkar a well known Author on November 10. It will not just be Books & Films at CLF 16. A scintillating musical performance by Piyush Mishra & band – Piyush is a well known actor, music director & singer is scheduled. Raj Shekhar & band will also be performing. Prof Tejwant Gill will be paying a tribute to Gurdial Singh on Nov 11. A Tribute to ‘Neelabh Ashk’ by Rahul Soni & Apoorvanand is also on the anvil.
Poetry is also being given its due. There is a session of Poet Manmohan who will be in conversation with critic Desraj Kali Three European poets Adrian Grima (Maltese), Yolanda Castaño (Spanish / Galician), Brane Mozetič (Slovenian) and 3 Indian poets Surjit Patar (Punjabi), Monika Kumar (Hindi) and Sampurna Chattarji (English) will be seen in a multilingual poetry performance- ‘Polyphony’, the result of reading and translating each other at a Literature Across Frontiers workshop. 
The books that will be discussed analytically are Author Janice Pariat’s ‘Sea Horse’ the critic who will be in discussion with the author is Rahul Soni. Meenal Baghel will be seen in conversation with Author Vibhuti Narayan Rai about his book ‘Hashimpura’. K R Meera author of ‘The Gospel of Yudas’ will be talking to Critic Elizabeth Kuruvilla. Ashok Vajpayee’s book ‘Name for every leaf’ will be dissected in a conversation of the author with critic Madan Soni. Critic Appoorvanand will talk to author Krishna Kumar about his book ‘Churi Bazaar mein Ladki’. Writer Shahid Amin’s book ‘Conquest & Community’ will be discussed with the author by Critic Alok Rai. Critic Veena Venugopal will be seen in discussion with author Mahesh Rao on his book ‘One point two Billion.’ Jai Arjun Singh will be in conversation with Author Akshaye Mukul on his book ‘Gita Press & the Making of Hindu’. Critic Manju Jaidka will be analyzing Author Lakshmi Kannan’s book ‘The Glass Bead Curtain’. Translator of the book ‘A life Misspent’ will be seen in conversation with critic Akshaya Kumar.
Very interesting sessions are planned in the Movie segment at CLF 2016. Meena Aiyer will talk to Director Anirudh Choudhary on his critically acclaimed film ‘Pink’. Nonika Singh will be in conversation with Shoojit Sarkar on his movie ‘Piku’. Director Anurag Kashyap will be engaged by critic Bhardwaj Rangan on his film ‘Raman Raghav’ and ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’ Director Sudhir Mishra will be seen in discussion with film critic Mayank Shekhar.




Dr. Vinod Kumar Honoured with Shiksha Ratna Award

Chandigarh 13th October:- Haryana Press Club organized a state level function at Hisar in which Eminent personalities who contributed significantly in their respected fields were honored. Secretary DAV College Managing Committee- New Delhi, Ravinder Talwar was the Chief Guest and Vice Chancellor of OPJS University, Churu Prof. Dr. Dalel Singh presided over the function.  Principal Dr. Vinod Kumar was honored with Shiksha Ratna Award. President of Haryana Press Club,  Maan Singh Verma announced that such functions will be organized in other district of Haryana also during the Golden Jubilee Year.

पंजाबी फ़िल्म एन आर आई लाडा की हुयी घोषणा

Chandigarh 13th October:- सिल्वर स्क्रीन पर रोमांस और कॉमेडी के तड़के के साथ साथ पारिवारिक रिश्तों के ताने बाने को दर्शाती एक और पंजाबी फ़िल्म "एन आर आई लाडा" बनने जा रही है। सिने मैटिक क्राफ्ट एंटरटेनमेंट के बैनर तले बनने वाली इस फ़िल्म की आज चंडीगढ़ प्रेस क्लब में घोषणा की गयी। फ़िल्म में जसविंदर भल्ला और सरदार सोही जैसे मंझे कलाकार तो है ही साथ में नए हीरो रिक्की मथारू भी अपनी अभिनय प्रतिभा को दिखाते हुए नज़र आएंगे।
फ़िल्म के बारे में जानकारी देते हुए फ़िल्म के निदेशक हरीश पराशर और बॉबी डूड ने बताया की फ़िल्म का मुख्य उदेशय आज की युवा पीढ़ी को रिश्तों की अहमियत से अवगत करवाना है।फ़िल्म में रोमांस कॉमेडी के अलावा सामाजिक मुद्दों को भी उठाने की भी कोशिश की गयी है।
चंडीगढ प्रेस क्लब में पंजाबी फिल्म इंडस्ट्री के मशहूर एक्टर जसविंदर भल्ला ने अपनी आने वाली नई फिल्म ऐन आर आई लाडा का प्री शूट लांच किया ।जसविंदर भल्ला  ने बताया की यह फिल्म पंजाबी सभ्याचार दर्शाती है और जो लोग धोखाधड़ी का शिकार हो कर विदेशों में जाते हैं उन्हें किन किन मुश्किलों का सामना करना पड़ता इस फिल्म में जसविंदर भल्ला का किरदार एक ट्रेवल  एजेंट का है। जसविंदर भल्ला ने बताया की फिल्म की शूटिंग नवंबर में शुरू होगी
