Guru Gobind Singh College for Women organizes Polio Awareness Drive

Chandigarh 04th November:- Rotaract Club of Life Turners in collaboration with the Rotary Club Chandigarh Mid Town organized a Polio Awareness Drive, today at Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector-26, Chandigarh . The students had prepared various banners, posters and speeches for the event. Mr. Puri, a senior member of the Rotary Chandigarh addressed the students and threw light on the causes and precautions of the disease.
Sundeep Singh Sawhney, Director, Youth Services Chandigarh motivated the students to come forward for the noble cause and maintain India’s polio free nation status. 
The Principal of the college, Dr. Charanjeet Kaur Sohi, encouraged the students to become pioneers of social service ad also gave a vote of thanks to the rotary club members for helping initiate such an event at the college premises.


PGI Organizes Symposium on “Intellectual Property Rights:Patenting in Medical Research”

Chandigarh 04th November:- The Department of Biochemistry, PGI, has organized a symposium on “Intellectual Property Rights: Patenting in medical research” on November 4, 2016 as Chandigarh Chapter of Association of Clinical Biochemists (ACBI) of India. The Director, PGI, Dr. S. Varma was the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony and Dr. Jatinder K. Arora, Executive Director, Punjab State Council of Science and Technology was the guest of honor. The symposium was aimed to sensitize researchers for protecting their research findings and identify which of these has potential for translational aspects and patenting. The need of protection of intellectual property in our educational and research institutes was discussed at length. The participants were apprised of the process of filing patents, ecosystem of IPR in India and the various agencies which can help in this process. 

Arjan:A Romantic Drama Based Film All Set to Drive-in Punjabi Cinema

Chandigarh 04th November:- A Packet full of Love, emotions & drama will be available in upcoming Punjabi movie Arjan, this film brings out the best of performances in the Punjab film industry. Real World Entertainment is ready to shoot their maiden Punjabi film ‘Arjan’ today which stars renowned singer & actor Roshan Prince, Prachi Tehlan, a national level basket baller, Hobby Dhaliwal, Shivender Mahal, Niraml Rishi & BN Sharma. The film will be directed by Mandip Singh, who has previously directed Just U & Me & Punjabian Da King.
The team of the film was in town today to shoot & clap its Mahurat Shot & to talk about it. Mandip Singh, the Director has written the story also, along with Nihal Purba who in association with him has penned down the screenplay and dialogues of the film. Mandip Singh, Director said that we can’t reveal much about the story at the moment but the film is surely going to make a mark. He believes film-making is the greatest art and there is an unlimited scope of experiment and innovation, so he is ready and confident to be the director of this movie.
Rajesh Bhatt, Creative Producer added that this is his first punjabi movie and he is very happy to be associated with this project & looking forward for something good in Punjabi cinema.
Puneet Chopra, the Producer said that he is very enthusiastic and happy to work with this wonderful team & is relying on the talent of the whole team and is confident of getting success”.
Roshan Prince, the lead actor said that it is an unusual script, the character is quite close to the real life and this will be another platform for him to show his real self.
Prachi Tehlan, the lead actress, also added that she has been playing basketball on a national level and had lil interest in this tinsel town but now very happy to start her movie career with this movie as this being her debut, she is looking forward to mark her presence in the Punjabi movie industry.
Music will be composed by Jassi Katyal & Gurcharan Singh. The lyrics are by Happy Raikoti, Sanjay Glory, Simranjit Singh Hundal, Dalbir Sarobad. Singers like Roshan Prince, Nooran Sisters, Prabh Gill & Nimrat Khaira have lent their melodious and soulful voices to the songs.
The film will be shot in Punjab, Chandigarh & Malaysia during a 35-40day long schedule.
