26352 IPPB Accounts Already Opened: CPMG

Chandigarh 13th October:- India Post celebrates the National Postal Week every October, starting with World Post Day which is celebrated every year on 9th October.  The purpose of World Post Day is to create awareness of the role of postal sector in peoples’ and businesses’ everyday lives and its contribution to the social and economic development of countries.  Today DoP is celebrating “Business Development Day”.
On this occasion, Anil Kumar, CPMG Punjab & U.T Chandigarh apprised about the recent transformation of India Post under IT Modernization Project & stated that post offices in India are taking up new assignments and challenges to meet the societal requirement, while contributing to accelerated economic development of the nation. Today, India Post is even serving as a major player in e-commerce market. He also intimated that all the departmental post offices of the Circle are under Core Banking Solution& Core System Integrated Project & rural post offices have been provided with hand held devices under DARPAN Project to cater to the needs of the rural and agrarian populace for ensuring better access to postal and financial services. In rural area, it would be beneficial for biometric authorization and disbursements.  India Post have been offering special facilities to our corporate and bulk customers for despatching all kind of services anywhere in the country.
Department has also opened mail corridor in Punjab & U.T Chandigarh by connecting all the major stations for next day delivery of mail.  Air connectivity has also been given to 16 cities of India.  Department has also started the service of International Tracked Packets Service to cater the needs of the customers sending articles to abroad.  Now India Post has started e-Commerce exports from India and encourage digitalization of customers and postal documentation.  In Punjab one full fledged Foreign Post Office has been established in Ludhiana to provide speedy custom clearance and complete other online formalities before despatch of foreign articles to respective country from Ludhiana itself.
Technological upgradation of all Post Offices has already taken place in 770 departmental post offices as well as 3100 Branch Post Offices of the Circle. As on date, 503 post offices of the Circle also act as Aadhaar Enrolment cum updation centres and 5 post offices namely Patiala HO, Bathinda HO, Pathankot HO, Moga HO and Phagwara HO of the Circle also act as Post Office Passport Seva Kendras. ATM facilities have also been provided to the customers of India Post with interoperability with other Banks.  As of now 26 ATMs are operational in Punjab and U.T. Chandigarh.  Now, customer can access their CBS POSB accounts from anywhere in the country. 
CPMG also informed that Punjab Postal Circle has set up a total of 22 IPPB branches in Punjab in addition to 1 IPPB branch in U.T Chandigarh covering 3870 post offices on the Circle.  So far 26352 IPPB accounts have already opened.  The aspiration for the India Post Payments Bank is to become the most accessible bank in the world riding on state of the art banking and payments technology. Coupled with the physical presence across 1.55 lakh post offices PAN India and the reach of “The Dakiya”, the India Post Payments Bank aims to become a powerful and effective vehicle of real financial inclusion in the country.
The Department has been instrumental in providing large variety of services to its customers through Post Offices viz. Saving Schemes, RPLI, PLI, Western Union Money Transfer Service, sale of Punjab State Lottery Tickets (Punjab only).  Approximately two crore revenue is earned every year by sale of lottery tickets. Postal Life Insurance and Rural Postal Life Insurace has get the momentum in the last years due to providing online collection of premium and its high bonus low premium feature.  This year We have procured 1667 PLI policies with Sum Assured Rs. 10.27 Crore and 2143 RPLI policies for Sum assured Rs. 33.25 Crore upto now.  Energy Efficiency appliances i.e, LED Bulbs, LED Tubes & Fans are also distributed through Post Offices.  Railway Tickets are booked in selected Post Offices.
On this ocassion Chief Postmaster General also informed that seven postal employees have been  awarded for their meritorious services rendered for providing best services to customers and technology excellence in the form of Dak Sewa award among different categories of employees.  This year is special for Punjab Circle when Meghdoot Award in the Gramin Dak Sewak category goes to Punjab.  Narinder Kumar Gramin Dak Sewak Branch Postmaster Dagan B.O. under Hoshiarpur Division will be honoured in New Delhi by MoS for communication for his outstanding performance and meritorious public service at all India level.       
During last one year Punjab Circle has won six medals under different sports and cultural events of all India level and awardees are being facilitated separately at Amritsar on 25.10.2018 for their performance in different sports fields. Baldev Singh SPM Khalra S.O. under Amritsar Division won Gold Medal in 20,000 Meter Race, Sandeep Kumar PA Fazilka , Jagjit Singh Postman Kurali and Harjeet Singh PA Sabzi Mandi PO Ferozepur won Silvar in Olympic Sprint (Cycling) team event. In Best Physique 95 Kg  category Sachin Kumar PA, JF Mills PO Amritsar and 55 Kg  category and Tajinder Singh GDSBPM , Lalu Khuman BO under Amritsar Division  won Bronze Medal.
Punjab Circle has performed very well in providing services in the field of Atal Pension Yojana, Sukanya Samridhi Yojna, Pradhan Mantri Jeewan Jyoti Yojna and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Beema Yojna by way of opening new accounts and insuring urban and rural population. This year we have made 2111 APY enrolments ( Ist in the country) , PMSBY 75242 and PMJJY 1901 and also opened 32758 Sukanya Samridhi accounts.

As the event took place at HNSP and Persona salon the guests tried out myriad salon services offered by number of experts displaying wide range of beauty aspects. Soiree followed several aspects of aesthetics as makeovers were discussed and deliberated upon and avenues of innovation and experimentation were unleashed.Occasion marked launch of grooming and makeovers fiesta for participating contestants and celebration of beauty and fashion finesse. Event unfolded collage of trend setting looks and style makeovers by ace makeover expert Mallika Gambhir.

Young Artists Display Talent in Art Exhibition 'Meri Pehchaan'

Chandigarh 13th October:- The third edition of Art Exhibition 'Meri Pehchaan' organised by Chhaya School Of Art(CSA) started at Government Art Gallery, Sec 10 here. The Exhibition will be on till October 14. Chief guest Gurkripal Surapuri a well known Punjabi singer and  Guest of honour Rajni Khorana,  inaugurated the Exhibition. In the inaugural event, the Chief guest and Guest of honour presented a momento and certificate each to the young artists.
In the exhibition, more than 550 Paintings made by 120 students of various schools of tricity, who have received training at Chhaya School of Art, have been displayed. The youngest child who has made a painting is just 3 years old. Apart from school students, even adults have shown their skills on the canvass. The age group of artists participating with works at the exhibition is 3-30 years.
CSA is promoted by Art Professionals. While Kaushik Sinha , Chairman, CSA has achieved ‘the best teacher’ award from former Punjab Governor Lt Gen (Retd) J F R Jacob, Praveen Sinha, Director, CSA, is a Master’s in Arts from Kurukshetra and also has been a topper in Panjab University. Kuntal Sinha is Secretary of CSA. CSA has grown from just 2 students to a present strength of over a 1000.
Kaushik Sinha, Chairman, CSA, said that the paintings are depicting various themes like  Nature, Say no to polybags, Swachh Bharat, Wildlife, Save energy, Still life, Landscape, Flower composition, Fruit composition, Abstract art, Monocrome etc. Various mediums have been used like Pencil, Oil pastels, Water colors, Oil paintings etc. The sheer size of the exhibition makes it quite unique and make it one of tri-city’s largest Art exhibitions.
Praveen Sinha, Director, CSA, said that art is something which comes from within. But in today's competitive world, not everyone gets a platform to show case their talents. But Chhaya School of Art has made this a reality by providing budding artists an arena to show their work.
In the exhibition one gets a glimpse of a blend of superior artistic skills and creativity of young painters. The showcase presented a pretty picture & looked like some festival of art with beautiful works making the environment colorful. The idea at 'Meri Pehchaan' is to conduct an extravaganza  displays works of different students of numerous schools under one roof.
Chhaya School of Art also  took an initiative to help the underprivileged children by filling them with joy, through an interaction with the young artists and distribution of gifts as a token of love.
Those who visited the exhibition included Special guest Twinkle Bedi, Assistant Professor, Panjab University, Chandigarh, Dr. Jasneet Matharoo, a Dental surgeon and  S.K.Sinha, Advocate. On 14th October the Chief guest will be Ravindra Krishan , a well known Advocate in Tricity, and Guest of honour will be Amarpreet Kaur, Academic Head of Round Glass Academy. Some special guests who will visit the exhibition on October 14 include Prof.Kulbhushan Tikoo, National Institute Of Pharmaceutical Education & Research, Shuchi Grover, Principal Ashma International School, Mohali & Devika Batta, Joint Secretary Of Sahayta Charitable Welfare Society.
On the last day of exhibition which is October 14, Chhaya School of Art will also be presenting Tricity Best Teacher Awards for  2018 too.

'Karwa Chauth & Diwali Special' Exhibition Starts

Chandigarh 13th October:- 'Karwa Chauth & Diwali special' Fashion & Lifestyle exhibition was inaugurated by Miss Shreya, North India's No.1 Dietician at Himachal Bhawan. The trendy showcase of designe Karwa -Diwali items, bridal & party wear, jewellery , home décor , accessories , festive gifting options etc will be on till October 15, 2018. The exhibition has been put up by Royal Day Events a company owned by husband wife duo of Yogesh & Pooja Chaudhary.

Entrepreneurs Discuss Significance of Sustainability of Business for Social Impact

Chandigarh 13th October:- The city’s largest entrepreneurship summit CANNABLE 2.0 by Chandigarh Angels Network (CAN) focussed on the need for start-ups to address issues of sustainability for social impact here today at the campus of NITTTR, Sector 26.
With over 350 startups and young aspiring entrepreneurs attended the meet which was addressed by a number of investors like Simarpreet Singh of HARTEK,  Kunal Nandwani of earthr.org, Ashok Mehta of Emmbros Automotives, Ashish Grover of uTrade amongst others.
Prof. Shyam Sundar Pattnaik, Director, NITTTR, STPI Director Ajay Srivastava, also attended the meet.
The startup project ‘Har Hath Kalam’ by Harsh Kothari in Patiala received applause for his social impact project of taking begging children to school that has reduced begging by children upto 60 percent in Patiala.
The topics like fund raising, celebrating failure and sustainability were discussed at length in panel discussions to guide the entrepreneurs wishing to startup on their own.
Three start-ups were also selected out of 200 applications who pitched to the investors for funding of their projects to scale up their businesses.
Gaurav Sharma of Driv Trakr from Delhi with a vehicle pick up and drop services for large companies, showcased their success of last 10 months having reached a turnover of nearly Rs.1 crore who were looking for another 1 crore funding to scale up. 
The Chandigarh startup ‘Roll Xpress’ pitched to take his current Rs.75 lakh sales revenue from its existing 19 outlets, to 100 outlets by December 2019 seeking Rs.1 crore angel investment.
Another Jalandhar based electric rickshaw and pickup manufacturer, Republic Motors, having successfully sold 500 vehicles sought Rs.2 crore investment for further R&D and marketing.
The pitches, Kunal Nandwani said, were heard with deep interest by investors and some of them did show interest which may fructify in future.
He added that CAN has already funded 15 startups in the past.
Many of the first and second generation youngsters participated in the mentoring clinic as they networked and received valuable inputs from experienced entrepreneurs.
