Square Mall started the Republic Day Celebrations with an exhibition which is a
tribute to Brigadier K S Chandpuri, Maha Vir Chakra(MVC), VSM -the hero of
Battle of Longewala with Pakistan. The Exhibition was inaugurated
by Brigadier (Retd.) MS Dullat(Shaurya
Chakra), at the mall here, today. As part of the inauguration, a
diya lighting & ribbon cutting ceremony was held, this was followed by
screening of a documentary related to Brig Chandpuri's life. The exhibition
kick started a unique Republic Day celebration - 'Salute the Real Heroes' from
January 19 to 27, 2019 at the mall. Brig KS Chandpuri’s family
members’ including his wife and son were also present. Brig Chandpuri had
recently passed away at Chandigarh.

Square Mall, said that during the celebration, we will be paying glowing tributes
to a real life hero-Brig K S Chandpuri who showed exemplary bravery to
repulse a Pakistani attack at Longewala, to keep our frontiers safe. Brig
Chandpuri was from Chandigarh, so what best way to pay our humble respects to
the departed war hero and thank his family for the sacrifices Brig Chandpuri
made for the nation. We felicitated his family also.
It is noteworthy that in the
exhibition there is an awe inspiring display of paintings, pictures, war
memorabilia (Shells / Rockets), trophies among other key war material of
Mahavir Chakra Brig. Kuldip Singh Chandpuri from the Battle of Longewala, which
is showcased exclusively at Bestech Square Mall.

Kaur Chandpuri said that on behalf of Chandpuri family she would like to say
thanks to the organisers, media and all well wishers of the family.

Hardeep Chandpuri said that the exhibition will help citizens
experience the war elements and the sacrifices that the defence forces make to
provide peace and harmony to India's citizens. The celebration will also
motivate youth and increase patriotic fervour in them.
The R Day celebration will also have
an activity of Live T Shirt printing on the Battle of Longewala. A War book
display area has also been created. The celebration will showcase interactive
activities like flag hoisting, tattoo making, make your own Republic day card, message wall, a live
bagpipers performance among others.
