My Library On Finger Tips (LOFT) Initiative by Dr. Tulsi Das Library, PGIMER

Chandigarh 14th November:- Dr. Tulsi Das Library, PGIMER organized the Launch of MyLoft App.  It was formally inaugurated by Prof A.K.Gupta, Medical Superintendent and Chairman Library Committee of the prestigious institute and Professor Incharge Library, Prof. (Dr.) Ritesh Agarwal. Prof. Incharge welcomed the distinguished gathering and appreciated the efforts of the Library for organizing this event. The MyLoft App is made available to the entire faculty, residents, research scholars and all the members of the Institute Library to access, organize and share digital resources. The App and web app are synchronised where it allows users to download content and save for offline reading from anywhere anytimeMyLoft App has been introduced keeping in mind the user needs and under make-in-India Technology. The Programme was attended by intellectuals of various fields and strata including Head of Departments, Professors, faculty members, Residents, research Scholars, Local Librarians and other staff of the institute.
Prof. A. K. Gupta discussed the importance of the application named MyLoft and insisted on marketing it so that the subscribed e-resources are fully utilized by the institute users. He appreciated the efforts taken by the Dr.Tulsi Das Library to organize the event and suggested to arrange User Awareness Sessions. Ms. Neelima Chadha, Asstt. Library & Inf. Officer delivered the vote of thanks to the eminent audience and to those who supported to make this event a great success. The Faculty, Staff and Students community of the institute congratulated and supported the library staff for taking such initiatives and introducing the app. The same awareness programme has been conducted in NINE with the coordination of the principal Nine for B.Sc and M.sc. nursing students and faculty.

Usha Strengthens Kitchen Appliances Range: Launches Designer Cooktops-Lustra Glass

Creating Employment Opportunities Must for Reaping Benefits of Demographic Dividend: Sanjay Behl

Mumbai 14th November:- Skilling and re-skilling exercises have to be taken up on a massive scale in an era where rapid technology disruption is a commonplace, and when the country is seeking to offer jobs to its growing young population, said, Sanjiv Mehta, Chairman & Managing Director, Hindustan Unilever Limited, while delivering a keynote address at the CII 9th HR National Conclave organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Mumbai.
Sanjiv Mehta said at the conclave deliberating on theme ‘Talent, Technology and Transformation’, that with technological advancements, robots have become part of several processes. You cannot ask a private enterprise not to be productive. Integration of man and machines call for different skilling of people. Organizations have to use skilling to retain, strengthen and building teams for furthering their competitive advantage.
Buttressing the need for creating jobs for a million of new youth entering the job market in the country every year,  Sanjiv Mehta said that organizations have to evolve an environment that is conducive for tech-savvy millennials as they are expected to form 50 per cent of the workforce soon.  He added that the skills of yesterday are not suited for the skills needed for tomorrow. 
Stating that learning has a different meaning in corporate human resources lexicon, Sanjiv Mehta said that the education system should address the present day skill needs. Unlearning (old skills) and re-learning of new skills would be required at a time when new technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), Predictive Analytics and Internet of Things (IoT) are taking over some of the critical functions in today’s organizations. That will increase employability of people in modern organizations.
Sanjiv Mehta said that forging partnerships between academia and research institutions is necessary for promoting innovation as it is done in the US. For building these partnerships, India must go up quite a few notches in building this partnership. He added that the country has to promote apprenticeship approach in a big way to develop and sustain high skill levels in line with Japan and Germany.
Sanjay Behl, Chairman, CII National Committee on Leadership & HR and CEO, Lifestyle Business, Raymond Limited, said to take advantage of the demographic dividend that the country is enjoying the industry has to create enough employment opportunities to the millennials. Nearly a million of millennials are turning 18 every year and start looking for employment.  
In the wake of changing paradigms in the global scenario, particularly the agility of product and process innovations, the leadership of organizations are looking to the HR function, to help with their change management requirements. The demand on the HR function to align with businesses as a ‘strategic’ partner by understanding, appreciating and leveraging technology to its advantage and creating necessary interventions for transformation is increasing phenomenally. 
Highlighting the changing dynamics of HR function at organizations in future, Rajesh Padmanabhan, Chairman, CII National HR Conclave & Director, Group CHRO, Welspun Group, said that the HR function is gaining importance in the wake of its policies affecting the profitability of an organization, participation as a strategic partner to the top management, and building capability and culture influencing the enterprise credibility.
Dr. Prince Augustin, Co-Chairman, CII National HR Conclave & EVP - Group Human Capital and Leadership Development, Mahindra & Mahindra, said that if we improve employability for the country as a whole our growth target to become a $5 trillion economy becomes meaningful. He said that therefore, building a purpose driven organisations become very crucial. Purpose is what changes lives and purpose is what creates a direction.

चिल्ड्रेंस डे: एन जी ओ द लास्ट बेंचर्स ने स्टूडेंट्स और टीचर्स को किया सम्मानित

Chandigarh 14th November:- चिल्ड्रेंस डे के अवसर पर एनजी लास्ट बेंचर्स की प्रेसिडेंट स्मिता कोहली की देख रेख में भास्कर कॉलोनी सेक्टर 25 में आज 80 स्टूडेंट्स को सम्मानित किया गया। जिनमे से 15 पहली से 10 कक्षा तक के 15 मेरिटोरियस स्टूडेंट्स को किया सम्मानित गया। इनके अलावा 06 टीचर्स को भी सम्मानित किया गया। इस अवसर पर अमृत कैंसर फाउंडेशन के प्रेजिडेंट रविंदर सिंह भी मौजूद थे। इस अवसर पर टीम की सदस्य दिव्या सिंगला, अनीता जिंदल, शशि बाला, निकिता, रितु, तारिका और नीलम गुप्ता भी मौजूद थी।
लास्ट बेंचर्स-हेल्पिंग हेल्पलेस की प्रेजिडेंट स्मिता कोहली ने बताया कि देश के पहले प्रधानमंत्री जवाहर लाल नेहरू की स्मृति में मनाए जाने वाले बाल दिवस के अवसर पर आज सेक्टर 25 की भास्कर कॉलोनी में एक कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया था। जिसका उद्देश्य मेधावी स्टूडेंट्स और बेहतरीन शिक्षा दे रहे टीचर्स को सम्मानित कर उनकी हौंसला आफजाई करना है। बच्चे हमारे देश का भविष्य है।

Punjab Government Signs MoU With Pumpkart: State’s MSMEs to Take Advantage of E-Commerce

Chandigarh 14th November:- A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by Invest Punjab (Punjab Bureau of Investment Promotion), Government of Punjab, with Pumpkart - one of the largest Startup from Punjab, which is all poised to become the first Unicorn from the state. Sibin C, MD, Punjab Small Industries & Export Corporation(PSIEC) signed the MoU on behalf of Punjab government and K S Bhatia, Co Founder & CEO, Pumpkart on behalf of Pumpkart. 
Under the MoU the Micro Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) of Punjab will get the advantage of E Commerce to both promote and sell their products.  Under the MoU many concessions including discounts on the transaction fees will be given.
The MOU signing took place at Hotel JW Marriott here and was attended by leading bureaucrats and industrialists from Punjab. Vini Mahajan, Additional Chief Secretary Investment Promotions and Industry & Commerce, Punjab was the Chief Guest, while Sibin C, MD, Punjab Small Industries & Export Corporation was the guest of honour. 
Vini Mahajan said that she is happy to announce the MoU signed with Pumpkart for the promotion of MSME’s in Punjab. She is here to support and encourage new thinking and enterprises who dream big. Growth of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME’s) is our priority. While the nation and the world have been passing through the phase of economic recession, Punjab has attracted over Rs 50,000 crore new investments. The industries in Mandi Gobindgarh are being revived. Keeping in line with the Make in India programme, we have formulated the Make in Punjab policy. This is a time to work together. Our focus is on providing jobs to the youth and our dream is to make Punjab number one once again.
K S Bhatia, Co Founder & CEO, Pumpkart said that Punjab has more than 2 Lac MSMEs and Pumpkart’s E Commerce business model would give them a direct access to the domestic market without adding in any costs. Implementing the MOU in 4 different phases it is targeted to bring in at least 10% of these MSMEs on Pumpkart’s E Commerce platform in the next 2 years. These are exciting times for us at Pumpkart. 'P' today stands for Pumpkart and also Punjab. Our aim is to create a growth story for Punjab and we will work tirelessly to achieve the objective.
Sibin C. said that MSME sector is the strength of our state. After this tie up with Pumpkart, now we are looking for other E Commerce platforms also. He thinks, a lot of awareness is required in this regard. That is why; the government has been organizing various awareness camps to underline the need for E Commerce amongst the MSME sector of Punjab.
On a growth trajectory currently after securing funding last month, Pumpkart is continuously adding “firsts” to its portfolio- the MoU with Punjab government being the latest. Amongst the whole online ecosystem of Punjab, Pumpkart has become the first E Commerce company to sign an MOU with the Punjab Government.
The event was also graced by the Chairman of Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings (CICU), Ludhiana, Upkar Singh and Gurmeet Bhatia, Former Chairman, CII Punjab, Kumara Guru DNV, Director(External Relations) of Indian School of Business(ISB) among many others.
Manish Saini, Co Founder, Pumpkart said that we have already laid out a well thought out execution plan which is being implemented. This includes training for MSMEs using E Commerce platforms to further their businesses. The first of the many workshops to train onboard MSMEs is starting on November 15th at Ludhiana from whereon the workshops will move to Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur and the other districts of Punjab in Phases.
