Indian Red Cross Society Chandigarh Launched its Mobile Unit of Kalam Express

By Tricitynews Reporter
Chandigarh 13th July:- “Kalam Express” is an initiative of the Indian Red Cross Society, U.T., Branch, Chandigarh that aims to promote, develop and maintain the skills essential for children with special needs so that they can better perform in their homes and social setting. This is a mobile Educational cum Rehabilitation unit for Children with Special Needs living in slum, rural and rehabilitation colonies of the city, which cannot commute to schools for attaining education and also require different therapies because of their physical limitations.
Indian Red Cross Society, U.T. Branch, Chandigarh had launched its first mobile unit of Kalam Express on 23rd June 2016 with support of State Bank of India under CSR.  This effort of Red Cross Society is to provide services to those CWSN who cannot afford it or are confined to their homes, and there is need to include them in the mainstream society. A team of Special educator & a physiotherapist have been visiting these children in the mobile unit equipped with audio visual and tactile teaching aids like Braille kits, toys, special Oro Motor kits etc
The team goes door to door in slum areas to provide education to special children who are unable to attend regular school. The service is free of cost and has helped many children improve & made them capable of attending regular school. It caters to visually impaired, hearing and speech impaired, and the mentally challenged children. The teaching methods to various kids vary depending on the IQ of the child.
For physically challenged children, a set of basic movements is done to ascertain the movement of their joints after proper assessment by the physiotherapist. The families are taught helpful techniques and are asked to regularly practice it with the kids.
The various areas covered under Kalam Express are Maloya, Dhanas,Manimajra, Maulijagran, Bapudham, & Colony no. 4. During past one year, the team has identified 260 CWSN that qualify for this assistance. The team is currently catering 168 children in the city slums. Among these, they have helped 36 children to get admission in various government schools and six kids to special schools such as Vatika in sector 19, Chandigarh.
The community is also supporting this noble cause by donating stationary items, wheel chairs, commode chairs etc for these children. There are many more CWSN living in these areas as well as other slums of the city.  They require guidance and training from special teachers, to enable them to interact and also improve their physical skills.  The inability of parents to provide such care, due to lack of resources and awareness, leads to neglect of these children.
The positive response to the service & need for such units to cater identified CWSN , Indian Red Cross Society has developed the new unit of Kalam Express, a fully equipped mobile educational cum rehabilitation unit to cater CWSN  at their doorsteps. The new unit will focus on reaching out to more children in already designated areas. The team will work closely with parents in order to enhance independence & social interaction of these special children.

By Tricitynews Reporter

ARQ Midcap Stocks outpaced the benchmark Nifty Midcap 100 by 8.87%, delivering 42.66% returns in the span of one year. With an aim to build the company’s vision of ‘Digital Revolution’, almost two years ago, Angel Broking launched their champion product ‘ARQ’, a data-backed machine intelligence mobile application that derived personalized recommendations for its users. This first-of-its-kind, intelligent and predictive Wealth Management engine has already begun to change the industry dynamics by an excellent margin with its remarkable numbers standing as a testimony to the vision behind it. ARQ Midcap Stocks performance indicates the steady pace at which the investment engine is gaining momentum in the market. The results towards the end of June 2017, suggest that if an investor may have invested a sum of INR 1 lakh in the ARQ Midcap Stocks at the beginning of June 2016, his returns today would have surged by 42.66%, thereby enabling the investor a high profit margin. ARQ has managed to successfully leverage the issues of non-flexibility and ‘off-the shelf’ advices that retail investors previously faced and turned it into an opportunity by providing customized solutions for individual investors, thereby gaining credibility in the market. The performance of ARQ Fundamental Stocks has been praiseworthy as well with it yielding an output of 13.24% against the market assessment of 7.66% in a mere span of 4 months. Additionally, since their introduction 10 months ago, ARQ Value Stocks and ARQ Quality Stocks, have witnessed a return of 29.09% and 25.20% respectively. The product was envisioned to be a disruptor and make the consumer agile and robust in terms of investments, and ARQ has already begun delivering results on that front. The performance witnessed by ARQ against the benchmark index has been praiseworthy. It goes on to show that the Indian consumer is more receptive towards not just technology, but data-backed technology that will deliver key results, especially during market volatility.
ARQ’s recommendations for the Mutual Funds have exceeded its’ own yardstick and has been scaling new heights with each passing quarter. The hi-tech automated investment machine aims at ushering in a new wave of diligent and disciplined investing in the Indian stock broking industry.

The teams have already started feeling the heat of this upcoming Mega Event which is due to be held in Chandigarh. With around 388 teams from various engineering colleges of India, 5 students from each team totaling over 2000 students, the battlefield is set and ready for these students to battle out their ideas.
In these two days event, the registered teams will be scrutinized for their knowledge and capability to participate successfully in the main event. Like last year, all the teams at the Virtual BAJA 2017 must make a presentation on their design, followed by a VIVA or Extempore, which will carry equal weightage in their final selection. The evaluation process will test every participant’s knowledge on Rulebook and General Mechanical and Automotive Engineering. Based on the performance in Virtual BAJA, the teams would be selected for participation in the main event to be held IIT Ropar, Punjab or NATRiP, Pithampur near Indore.

By Tricitynews Reporter
Chandigarh 13th July:- TAAI & South African Tourism concluded the 7th edition of its annual travel trade training sessions in Chandigarh today. Aimed at equipping travel agents with the best tips to sell the destination, ‘Learn South Africa’ (Learn SA) is a 17-city training programme which covered urban metros and tier II & III markets. The total attendance was 102 from tricity , Punjab & Haryana.
Hanneli Slabber, Country Manager India, South African Tourism said that the sessions were structured to ensure that travelers enjoy many new, exciting, tailor-made itinerary options as a direct result. “Learn SA helps ensure that Indian travel agents know how to choose the best quality hotels for their customer’s budget and needs. It also teaches them how to choose the best in-destination partners to escort the traveler while on holiday. It also gives them updates about new things to see and do in South Africa and basics like visa and logistical know-how to ensure that travelers are catered to efficiently.
Jay Bhatia, Hon. Treasurer, TAAI said that TAAI's endeavor through training programs is to educate travel agents so that it is easy for the staff of travel companies to effectively sell the product. With South African Tourism this is the second time that we have undertaken this training. We are happy that the trade is getting exclusive marketing tips from the SAT team and stakeholders from SA who have come to India.
Hanneli Slabber added further that the preference for holidays in South Africa has been on a rise amongst Indian travelers over the past few years and is expected to continue in 2017. “2016 was a milestone year for us at South African Tourism in India and we are determined to set new benchmarks for the industry as well as ourselves by making 2017 bigger and better. Our internal target is to welcome more than 100,000 Indian visitors in 2017 and we couldn’t be more thrilled to work towards and achieve this target.
Indian leisure visitor numbers to South Africa surged 21.7% during 2016 to close at an arrivals figure of 95,377 and 8th position among South Africa’s international source markets. This is vis-à-vis 78,385 arrivals in 2015. 2016 also saw the overall spends from India (only in-country on-tour spends excluding flights and attractions, hotels booked in advance) crossed an astounding 1.2 billion ZAR by the year end. All these statistics indicate that Indian travelers are already showing excitement about destination South Africa.
Chandigarh has been identified as one of the emerging source markets driving tourist traffic to South Africa. It has been listed as one of the 10 next high potential cities outside of the traditional Indian metros. South Africa is keen to keep attracting Chandigarh’s travel enthusiasts and potential is brimming. It is part of the 10 city cluster which makes up 23% of India’s ultra HNHs according to 2016’s Top of the Pyramid survey by Kotak Wealth Management.
South Africa is the perfect destination for the emerging Chandigarh traveler with its variety of distinctive attractions, unforgettable experiences, world-class facilities and excellent infrastructure. It attracts both luxury as well as budget travelers. South Africans love their food especially their traditional barbeque called Braai which comprises of meats and vegetables and is similar to the tandoor cooking style of Punjab. One of Learn SA 2017’s focus areas was to train travel agents about new destinations such Oudtshoorn, Knysna, Plettenberg Bay, Port Elizabeth and the Drakensberg region beyond the immensely popular Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg & surrounds and Kruger National Park. These are picturesque areas where travelers can pack in a lot of action into shorter time-spans.
Learn SA 2017 had numerous participating South African product suppliers resulting in more choices for the end consumer / traveler. These included inbound tour operators and destination management companies like Africa Incoming, Trav Care, Tourvest Destination Management, Centurion Travel and Tours and Southern Africa 360; hotel chains such as Tsogo Sun and Sun International and African air carrier RwandAir which is introducing exciting fares and deals to India.
Over 70 international airlines now fly into South Africa. Efforts are on to increase seat capacity on relevant flight routes ex-Chandigarh. Presently, Chandigarh is connected to South African cities by Emirates, Ethiopian Airlines and Etihad Airways which fly via their respective hubs and domestic India connections. Travelers have a variety of airlines, connections and consequently, multiple fare options to choose from. The Rand (ZAR)-Rupee exchange rate has been relatively favorable for the India market. Since the South Africa product quote comes in ZAR and not US dollars, Indian travelers are able to buy more experiences and activities for less money thus, making South Africa a value-for-money destination.
