Chandigarh Police Launches Special Drive under COTPA Act

Chandigarh 09th June:- A special drive has been launched by the Chandigarh Police under         “The Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act, 2003 (COTPA Act 2003). Drive has been carried out by all police stations. During the special drive 128 persons were found violating the provisions of COTPA Act and they were issued Challan. This drive will be continued in future as well.



GAIL, Centre Joins Hands to organise ‘Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas Sammelan’

Chandigarh 09th June:- Partnering with the Central government, GAIL (India) Limited, the largest state-owned natural gas processing and distribution company in India, organised a “Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas Sammelan” here on Friday, highlighting how the achievements of the PSU and the Centre in the past three years have led to inclusive growth.
The conference, which was attended by Sri Ganganagar MP Nihalchand Meghwal, Anandpur Sahib MP Prem Singh Chandumajra, former Punjab Cabinet Minister Madan Mohan Mittal, Mandal President Munish Dharmani and representatives of GAIL and the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, among others, deliberated on ways to realise the dream of a progressive India.
One of India’s leading PSUs, GAIL has been accorded the coveted “Maharatna” status by the Government of India.
The “Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas Sammelan” served as a platform for GAIL and the Central government to revisit the various initiatives taken by them in the past three years. GAIL representatives explained at length how GAIL had achieved its growth by involving all stakeholders.




CITCO is organizing “The Chandigarh Ice Cream Fest 2017” from 9th to 11th June

Chandigarh 09th June:- The City Beautiful is all set to witness the most awaited event of the summer- “The Chandigarh Ice Cream Fest 2017” from 9th to 11th June 2017 at Chandigarh Sukhna Lake. The second edition of the three day event is jointly organized by CITCO and the Times of India.
The Chandigarh Ice cream festival will be an excellent summer treat for the citizens of the city and will also attract many tourists who are in the city or are planning to visit Chandigarh this weekend. Making it a huge hit, the first edition of the Ice Cream fest attracted over 10,000 people per day and 40,000 visitors from the tricity.
Various International and National ice cream brands will dole out unlimited scoops to attendees during the festival at Sukhna Lake from 9th to 11th June 2017. Chandigarh Ice Cream Fest attendees will be able to choose between ice creams, shakes, smoothies, rolls and gelatos.
Brands taking part include London Diary, Baskin Robbins, Monika’s, Verka, Giani’s and many more. Homegrown shops will also be participating to offer delicious scoops at the event. Combine they will offer diverse choices in the ice creams. This boatload of the frosty treat is going to make the citizens scream for ice cream.
The event is an attempt to bring together the diverse varieties and lip smacking flavors of ice creams and ice cream based desserts.  The tasty tour will be made more exciting with the traditional ice creams such as Chuskee, Italian gelatos and fresh fruit desserts.
The ice cream glory will be relished with the live performances of the local musicians and entertainers. Individuals who want to satiate their sweet tooth while having a great time with family and friends.


Mahavir Phogat, Yogesh Midha, Gaurav Tyagi and Akhil Kumar Gets Living Legend Awards

Chandigarh 09th June:- World famous wrestling coach Mahavir Singh Phogat, social worker Sant Iqbal Singh, healthcare entrepreneurs Yogesh Midha and Gaurav Tyagi besides renowned boxer Akhil Kumar and few others have been bestowed with Living Legend Awards for their extraordinary contributions to the nation and the society.
The Living Legend Awards function was held in Chandigarh to felicitate several top social and industry achievers. Punjab cabinet minister for power and irrigation, Rana Gurjit Singh was the guest of honor. The programme witnessed a scintillating musical performance by the famous Lakhwinder Wadali group.
Yogesh Midha of Ben Pharmaceutical was was awarded with Most Innovative Award for his contribution in the health and services sector. Similarly, Gaurav Tyagi of the Sunniva Drugs & Formulation was given a trophy for his health for all initiative. Amarjit Kaur was bestowed with the title of Outstanding Woman of the Year. S P Singh Oberoi was honored for serving humanity selflessly.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Sant Iqbal Singh for helping and educating the marginalized children in Punjab. These awards have been initiated to honour the social and business stars who have struggled hard and succeeded despite odds.
The inspiration behind the box-office hit ‘Dangal’ movie and Dronacharya Awardee, Mahavir Singh Phogat was awarded for his extraordinary contribution to wrestling. Advertising professional Manish Rathore from Ambala was also honored for his services to the media industry.

कॉलोनी नं. 4 में मनाया गया सद्गुरु कबीर प्रकटोत्सव

Chandigarh 09th June:- सद्गुरु कबीर जी लगभग 700 वर्ष पूर्व जो कुछ भी लिख गए वह सब आज भी बेहद प्रासंगिक है। यहां तक कि उनकी इतने वर्ष पूर्व कहीं बातें आज इतनी सच होतीं हुईं हम देख रहे हैं जैसे कि उन्होंने अपनी एक रचना में लिखा था कि एक समय ऐसा आएगा जब मांस-मदिरा की दुकानों पर जमघट लगेगा और दूध बेचने के लिए घर-घर जाना पड़ेगा। ऐसा लगता है मानो वे कवि ना होकर कोई ज्योतिषी हों। ये उद्गार आज यहां कॉलोनी नं. 4 में सद्गुरु भगवान कबीर मंदिर कमेटी द्वारा आयोजित कबीर प्रकटोत्सव समारोह में उपस्थित जनता को सम्बोधित करते हुए स्थानीय कांग्रेस के महासचिव शशिशंकर तिवारी ने व्यक्त किए। उन्होंने मंदिर में माथा भी टेका। इस मौके पर कमेटी के प्रधान कृष्णा, राजकुमार काला, संतलाल, ओमबीर, सुभाष कुमार आदि पदाधिकारियों ने शशिशंकर तिवारी तथा नगर निगम पार्षद शीला फूलसिंह एवं मनोज कुमार आदि को सम्मानित किया। इससे पहले यहाँ  भगवान कबीर की शोभा यात्रा भी निकाली गई भजन-कीर्तन किया गया तथा भंडारा भी लगाया गया।
