Tata Trusts, UNHIE, BIRAC and Social Alpha Announces India Accelerator Platform for Healthcare Innovations

By Tricitynews
Chandigarh 22nd November:- A unique programme for health innovations  has been announced by United Nation’s Health Innovation Exchange (UNHIE), Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) and Social Alpha. Conceived as the India Accelerator Platform, it aspires to unlock the potential of the Indian Medical Technologies (MedTech) and Digital Health innovations through successful adoption of 100 Indian innovations in the next five years. The accelerator is estimated to result in the opening of market access and procurement of Medical Devices and Diagnostics and Digital Health solutions worth $500 million from Indian Start-Ups during the same period.
These efforts are in line with the Government of India’s vision to provide Deep Technology Innovations that are ideated, conceptualized and manufactured in India. This accelerator will be an Open Platform and key stakeholders from public and private sector, multilateral agencies and foundations will be invited to join the platform.
Pradeep Kakkattil, Director of Innovations, UNAIDS and Head-UNHIE said that leveraging innovation is essential to fast tracking progress to Universal Health Coverage and SDG3 targets.  India’s innovation ecosystem has the potential to transform access to health - from pharma to diagnostics to digital health. The UNAIDS Health Innovation Exchange (UNHIE) was set up by the UN to facilitate acceleration and adoption of technologies and innovation for health and to make them available across countries. We are very excited to partner with BIRAC and Social Alpha to establish the UNHIE-BIRAC India Accelerator platform and he is confident that it will be transformative in the global journey to UHC.
UNHIE is a platform to identify challenges faced by implementers and connect them with innovations that have high potential for impact. The platform links with investors to scale up the efforts and develop sustainable solutions to bridge the disconnect that exists between innovators and implementers to fast-track progress to reach Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and other health-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
Dr. Renu Swarup, Secretary DBT & Chairperson, BIRAC said that India, with its rapidly growing start-up ecosystem, technology strength and government’s commitment to universal health coverage, is the best test bed and offers the right ecosystem for scaling disruptive healthcare innovations. BIRAC has significantly enhanced the capabilities of the Indian startup ecosystem by supporting a number of healthcare innovations and UNHIE-BIRAC India Accelerator will further enhance the adoption potential of health innovations. We congratulate UNAIDS and Social Alpha for joining hands with BIRAC in this ambitious initiative.
The platform will also create and curate investment opportunities for capital providers, prepare innovators for regulatory approvals, assist in market access and leverage all partners and their network for global advocacy. The platform will help Indian Innovators to use multilateral and UN mechanisms to fund and scale their innovation globally. Social Alpha will manage the accelerator programme.
Manoj Kumar,  Co-Founder and CEO , Social Alpha said that India can take a leadership role in creating multilateral “market shaping” mechanisms to promote innovative solutions globally and help drive down the cost of healthcare while improving both access and adoption. Moreover, homegrown technologies in India are an excellent market fit for several developing countries since they all share similar healthcare challenges. Innovations developed in India also have significant potential for translation and adoption in developed economies. We are very excited to partner with UNHIE and BIRAC to design and execute the India Accelerator Platform.

‘Safai Karamcharis’ On War Path Against Municipal Corporation

By Tricitynews
Chandigarh 22nd November:- Safai Karamcharis’ who have been employed based on death case of their fathers, by Muncipal Corporation, Chandigarh, through the agency- Asmi Industries, the company which has been given a contract to employ safai karamcharis by MC Chandigarh,  are up in arms against the MC.  It is pertinent to mention here that as many as 115 such people were employed on compassionate grounds by the MCC through Asmi Industries. While 31 of these have been given proper assignments with MC, 84 such people are still facing an uncertain future.
This was informed  by Sandeep Kumar son of an ex employee (safai karamchari) with MC Chandigarh after a meeting of the aggrieved workers regarding the issue. Now Sandeep is working at Asmi Industries, after the death of his father. But instead of safai karamchari he has been designated as helper and is forced to do different works instead of his actual work of sweeping.
Sandeep Kumar said that we always thought that we had been recruited as safai karamcharis however we have recently found out that our appointment is as helpers. As helpers we can be called to do any kind of duty - like working at horticulture department or even sent to clean underground sewerage etc. This scope of work is not part of a safai karamchari’s assignment, who are given the task of sweeping. We have been befooled by the MCC.
Sandeep Kumar added that we are not being given salary on time. There is a delay of 2 months in salary and all of us are in debt, but no action is being taken in this regard by MC which should take Asmi Industries to task to resolve this matter.
The workers said that the people who put in so much effort to keep the city clean are being given a step motherly treatment. All of these people have been given jobs on grounds of death of their father and still they are being ill treated.
He said that no one is listening to us and we have decided to meet senior BJP leader Satyapal Jain. We had met many councillors who promised to raise the issue in the house but have failed to do so.

Your Conduct on Social Media Reflects Your Personality: Vimal Daga

By Tricitynews
Chandigarh 22nd November:- Your conduct on social media reflects your personality and changes the perception of people towards you, which could be good or bad for you and completely depends on the way you behave on social media. You may be a technology savvy person, a social media bluebird or an ace expert on the subject of digital media who is spending a significant amount of time on the social platforms but all that can go haywire if you don't follow certain norms and etiquettes. There are certain courtesies and considerations rules and etiquettes to be followed before you start collaborating on social media. Technology experts and seasoned educators Vimal Daga and Preeti Daga decode the rules for us :
·  Never use cuss words in the public domain as far as possible
·  Always try to avoid being judgemental especially about looks, weight, age, caste, color, class. nationality and religion.
·  While conversing with your social media friends try to avoid asking too personal questions, For example, if the other person is not talking about his or her marriage or relationship status or unemployment you have no business asking about it either.
·  Men should avoid asking women for their telephone nos unless and until the lady gives it on their own accord.
·  Avoid trying to be too intimate with your social media friend at the very outset, you should maintain a very formal relationship until you start feeling comfortable with another person.
·  You have to be careful while interacting because you can't hear the tone of the voice, the written word can mean a lot of things, it depends on the context and tone with which you say it. So you have to take precautions to avoid unpleasantness.
·  Never tag the other person a lot of people take umbrage, they get upset if you tag them without informing them, try to avoid tagging, unless if you have been regularly interacting with them.
·  You should not demean someone openly while interacting on the social platform, this should be highly avoidable, this is not taken in very poor light, try to avoid spending time on social media while you are supposed to do your office work.
·  Put organic and original information about you in your profile like correct name, sex, your own photograph, and business. Don't put pics of film stars, celebrities or your pets as your profile picture.  Let your real friends approach a real friend only. You can fake your identity but in the long run, this will spoil your name and will be in bad taste.
·  Don't send friend requests to people you don't know and not acquainted with for selling your brand or product.
·  Refrain from responding to strangers unless you know them nice enough, there can be many people who have created accounts with false details and even fake genders, many men have been seen using profile pic of an actress and good looking girl and indulge in chatting or sending vulgar pics, be cautious and avoid accepting requests of such kind of people as they might have malafide interests.
·  Avoid sending game requests to people you don't know or even to known ones before sending requests to seek permission first. Refrain from posting things you don't want your boss or client to see on facebook.
·  Don't drink and drive is  repeatedly advised same is true in case of social media too, don't tweet  post or share pics if you are drunk and high, avoid to log in
