Medanta opens MediConsult in Chandigarh

Chandigarh 22nd April:- Medanta Group has tied up with Dr Sandeep Singh Chhatwal to setup Medanta’s MediConsult in Omni Clinics  & Diagnostics in the city for running OPDs.
Dr Naresh Trehan, chairman and managing director of Medanta-The Medicity, Gurgaon, in his message said that growing demand from patients in the northern region for various super-specialities has led to the decision to have its permanent presence in the city through collaboration with Dr Sandeep Singh Chhatwal of Omni Clinics and Diagnostics, to cater to Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.
Dr S.K.S. Marya, chairman of Bone and Joint Institute of Medanta who is an international authority in joint replacement with over 15,000 surgeries including 3500 simultaneous knee replacement and 3000 hip-replacement surgeries to his credit, said that instead of making patients to travel to Gurgaon, the super-specialists would be in the town to examine the patients from different disciplines,
Dr S.K.S. Marya who conducted the first OPD at Omni Clinics today said that not every patient requires joint replacement and since the technology is evolving rapidly the world over, some of the latest techniques are revolutionary which are customized to the patients’ actual needs, as we at Medanta hold our accountable to our patients. He added that we treat patient as a person and not as an object.
Dr. Sandeep Singh Chhatwal of Omni Clinics and Diagnostics said that our mission is to help the people get right advice at the right time from the right super specialist, which we shall be facilitating.
Sukesh Thareja, Vice President of Medanta said that some of the super-specialists scheduled to visit the city shall be from paediatrics neurology, cancer, cardiaology, neurology, etc., which would be pre-advertised, and the next step would be to setup a tele-medicine facility so that the specialists at Medanta can be consulted by patients at their convenience too.


Chandigarh Open Bridge Championship: Eight Teams Enter Super League in Bridge Championship

Chandigarh 22nd April:- On the second day of the Chandigarh Open Bridge Championship, eight teams, including three from Delhi, two from Haryana, one each from UP and Rajasthan, and the host Chandigarh Bridge Association (CBA) team have qualified to enter the final Super League.
Hosted by CBA with the support of Steel Strips Limited, the Championship took interesting turn with Anoop Dhawan’s team from Delhi topped the list with a score of 98.63 after seven rounds with 10 boards per round.
Steel Strips Delhi team scored 97.83 followed by Baikunth Magnolia of Panchkula (92.09), Delhi Blues (86.21), Agarwals of UP (85.20), Engineers of Haryana (84.64), Rajputana of Jaipur, Rajasthan (82.53), and best of the host CBA Team led by Satinder Singh with 71.99 score.

CBA President H.S. Dhariwal informed that the Super Leagues would decide the winning eight teams and eight pairs by tomorrow afternoon, and the Bridge tourney would conclude with prize distribution.

Gian Jyoti Global School Celebrates World Earth Day

Chandigarh 22nd April:- Gian Jyoti Global School organized a cleanliness drive to celebrate World Earth Day at its campus in Phase-2, Mohali. On the occasion students also participated in other creative activities like Face Painting on the theme of Save Earth, Heathy food habits, slogan writing, poster making etc.
Students and staff members took pledge during the occasion to save their mother land by keeping it green and clean. The tiny tots also planted saplings in the school premises.

Ranjeet Bedi, Principal, Gian Jyoti Global School appreciated the efforts of young toddlers and teacher for organizing cleanliness drive.  She also reminded students about their responsibility towards Mother Earth and administered a pledge to protect and save our fast depleting natural resources. The celebration concluded with the National Anthem and the belief that the students would respect their natural inheritance and be good caretaker of their planet.
She said that the main aim of this celebration was to sensitize the students about saving their mother earth & to keep it clean. She added further that to build a better future, we all must commit to protect our environment near and around.

NCB Chandigarh Unit Seize 03.020 Kgs. of Opium

Chandigarh 22nd April:- Narcotics Control Bureau, Chandigarh Zonal Unit seized 03.020 Kgs. of opium and arrested two person’s namely 45 years old Narayan Singh (main supplier), resident of Ward No. 03, Khaikheda, Surjanajuna, Shamgarh, Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh and another 52 years old Kalu Rao (carrier and associate of Narayan Singh), resident of Ward No. 25, Bhawanimandi, Jhalawar, Rajasthan.
NCB on the basis of specific intelligence mounted surveillance near main gate of Patiala Bus Stand (Punjab) and accused were caught with 03.020 Kgs. opium which was diverted from licit cultivation in Rajasthan/MP. It is notable that diversion of opium from licit cultivation has been noted and recently NCB Unit at Jodhpur had seized 35 Kgs. of opium diverted from areas under cultivation. On the basis of preliminary enquiry, it is revealed that both the accused person’s was involved in drug smuggling during the last one year and it was their third attempt to supply Opium in Haryana and Punjab region. The contraband was kept in steel Tiffin which was recovered from the accused Narayan Singh. This is the 28th seizure during this year by Narcotics Control Bureau, Chandigarh. This is the 8th Opium seizure by NCB during this year.

UP’s Aggarwals and City’s Steel Strips Lead Pack in Chandigarh Open Bridge Championship

Chandigarh 22nd April:- The three-days national-level Chandigarh Open Bridge Championship commenced at Hotel The Lalit.
The team Agarwals of Uttar Pradesh and Team Steel Strips were leading the pack by evening out of the 29 teams that registered for the championship representing states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Utrakhand, Delhi, West Bengal, and Chandigarh.
The Team Agarwals of Uttar Pradesh included Indresh Agarwal, Col Sabharwal, Sushil Agarwal, C P Agarwal, and P. Garg, while the local Team Steel has four members, namely Subhash Gupta, Sapan Desai, Swarendu Banerjee, and Arun Bagpat.
The eight teams would get shortlisted by tomorrow afternoon in the Swiss League of 10 boards per round, who would go into Super League, and the pair sessions shall be played tomorrow and on Sunday to select top eight pairs.
Earlier, the leading Bridge players, K R Lakhanpal, and Steel Strips’ managing director R K Garg formally inaugurated the championship.
Just as the Director announced the beginning of the championship, the entire hall fell into complete silence as the players engaged themselves in this game that requires extreme concentration, focus, and intellect to win over the opposite team.
H.S. Dhariwal. President of CBA said that the Association is doing its bit to promote the game in the city by opening a coaching centre for Bridge in the Sector 42 Hockey stadium.
There is prize money of Rs.2 lakh for eight teams and eight pairs in the tournament.

Prominent players included Anoop Dhawan, and his team mate Rana Roy, captain of the Indian Railways team who has been eight times winner of the famous Ruia Cup of Indian Bridge Federation.
He added that Chandigarh Open has been a major attraction since its inception in 2000, and Bridge being the game of patience and intellect, fascinates every age group.
CBA also runs training workshops at the Bridge Coaching Centre that it has opened in the Sector 42 Hockey Stadium, where those interested to learn the fundamentals of this game can join.

Chandigarh team has been participating in international bridge tournaments every year, and the game stands on the beverage of being included as an Olympic sports.

Treezing And Artemis Hospital Launched Run for Earth and Environment Drive

In this unique endeavour to create awareness about global warming, Treezing an organization focused towards environment awareness and tree plantation is all set to organize its first ever Earth Day Marathon from Chandigarh Sukhna Lake.  
More than 300 participants are expected at the event and for every participant; Treezing will plant a sapling. Through this initiative, people will be educated about Global warming, which has increased average temperature by One Degree and which may increase up to four degrees in coming years, if we do not act today to stop this. Indiscriminate usage of plastic, wastage of water & electricity, cutting of trees etc. are further adding to the burden of climate change.

Balbir Singh Sidhu Visit Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute

Chandigarh 22nd April:- The MLA of SAS Nagar, Balbir Singh Sidhu visited the Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute today. The Programme began with the Director briefing the MLA about the Institute and a round around the campus. This was followed by a Shabad “Deh Shiva Var Mohe” sung by the Lady Cadets. After this, the MLA came forward to address the Lady Cadets. He spoke highly about the Army and also that he wished to see the Lady Cadets successful in their lives. This was followed by an interactive session of the MLA with the Lady Cadets.
The MLA was very impressed and appreciative of the efforts being directed towards preparing the girls of Punjab for a noble career as officer in the defence forces. After he offered his support in this endeavour.



World Earth Day: Chandigarh Traders Association organizes Tree Plantation Drive at Sector 17

Chandigarh 22nd April:- Members of Chandigarh Traders Association, Sector 17 Chandigarh, assembled at Anand Complex Sector 17 under the presidentship of Kamaljit Singh Panchhi for a Tree Plantation Drive on the eve of World Earth Day. This is a noble cause which will flourish in coming monsoon. This cause will also help in proving the problem of Global Warming.
On this occasion, Kamaljit Singh Panchhi requested to the people to keep water and air pollution free. According to him, this is the foremost and most important step to keep the environment clean. The Campaign aims creating awareness among people of Chandigarh for clean and green environment in Chandigarh.
Kamaljit Singh Panchhi further said that water is the most essential component of life and is vital for sustenance. The importance of water in our diet is apparent as it helps the body to perform specific metabolic tasks and regulates our body temperature; moreover water is unique as its density is similar to that of cell protoplasm. There is no doubt that water is everywhere and it is very important to our Earth and the life inhabiting it. Water contains no calories and is a significant factor in losing weight. It is the key component in determining the quality of our lives and is a universal solvent.
Kamaljit Singh Panchhi appeals to the traders and general public to plant at least one tree at different places of the city. The members were convinced about the usefulness of such plantation drives and promised that they will plant a tree for the better future of all living human beings.

चंडीगढ़ बॉडी बिल्डिंग एवम फिटनेस एसोसिएशन की कार्यकारिणी की घोषणा

Chandigarh 22nd April:- चंडीगढ़ बॉडी बिल्डिंग एवम फिटनेस एसोसिएशन की ओर से आज अपनी नई चुनी गई कार्यकारिणी की घोषणा की गयी। जिसमें गुरदीप सिंह को बतौर अध्यक्ष, जॉन बेदी को प्रधान, गुरसेवक सिंह साबी बतौर महासचिव एसोसिएशन का कार्यभार संभालेगें।
चंडीगढ़ प्रेस क्लब में आयोजित पत्रकारवार्ता में एसोसिएशन के महासचिव गुरसेवक सिंह साबी ने बताया कि अतुल सोनी गुरसेवक मान कोओर्डिनेटर, लखवीर सिद्धु को कोषाध्यक्ष, गुरमुख काहलों और सर्वपरीत को उप प्रधान, मनदीप मकोल भास्कर सिंह को सचिव, प्रतीक राय को वरिष्ठ उप-प्रधान एवं अमनदीप को मिडिया प्रभारी आदि का कार्यभार दिया गया है। 
एसोसिएशन के प्रधान जॉन बेदी ने बताया कि यह एसोसिएशन वाब्बा के अंतर्गत पंजीकृत है। इसका मुख्य उद्देश्य बॉडी बिल्डिंग को युवाओं में प्रोत्साहित करना है। उन्होंने बताया कि आने वाले समय मे चंडीगढ़ में मिस्टर बॉडी बिल्डिंग प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन किया जायेगा। जिसके लिए उनकी एसोसिएशन युवाओं को सही मार्गदर्शन देगी। 
एसोसिएशन के अध्यक्ष गुरदीप सिंह के अनुसार आज के युवा नशे की तरफ बढ़ रहे हैं उन्हें रोकने के लिए जबरदस्ती की जगह रूची बढाने की आवश्यकता है। इसी मुद्दे को लेकर हम ईनाम राशि को बढ़ा कर 51000 करेंगे ताकि युवाओं को आकर्षित किया जा सके। 
मि. इंडिया बंटी सिंह के अनुसार युवाओं में डाइट मिलने की कमी के कारण वे बाडी बिल्डिंग से दूर हो रहे हैं। पंजाब पुलिस में बतौर डीएसपी तैनात अतुल सोनी दो कि इस संस्था मे कोओर्डिनेटर का कार्य भी कर रहें हैं, ने बताया कि व्यक्ति में रोल मॉडल होना चहिए तब ही किसी युवा के जीवन बदल सकते हैं।
