PCA Election:Kamal Gupta Elected President Unopposed

Chandigarh 21st April:- PCA (Property consultant Association ) Organized its annual General Meeting at Hotel Park in Sector 35 Chandigarh. Kamal Gupta was elected president unopposed. Election was held under the supervision of Surendra Singh Chief Electoral Officer, Naresh Kumar Arora and Jatinder Singh Election Officer.
Newly elected president Kamal Gupta announced new office bearers Sunil Kumar as General Secretary, Manpreet Singh as finance secretary. 
While interacting with media he said that other office bearers will be announced very soon. He said that he will be tried to resolve the property related issues take it up the same with the Chandigarh Administrator.

Global Platform for Environment to Hold Regional Conference on Environment

Chandigarh 21st April:- Chandigarh is all set to host a first of a kind Regional Conference on Environment, in Panjab University, on April 22, 2018. The Conference is being organised by ‘Global Platform for Environment (GPE)' -an NGO made up of a dynamic team of Advocates and Environmentalists. To share details of the conference a press meet was held by Hon'ble Justice Swatanter Kumar, Former Chairman National Green Tribunal(NGT) & Judge of Supreme Court of India as well as  National Convenor, (GPE) along with  Reeta Kohli Senior Advocate- SIOLI( Serving in Organisations for Legal Initiatives ), Neelima Kamrah, Registrar- KIIT Group of Colleges & Sunita Sibal, a social activist.
Justice Swatanter Kumar said that with an objective to mull over & find a solution to critical issues related to conservation of water, combating air pollution and managing solid waste, various NGOs along with Pollution control boards, State Governments and Stakeholders will come together at a first time in tricity. International representatives of UNEP & IUCN will also take part. 
Reeta Kohli Senior Advocate from SIOLI  said that the time has come when we ought to realize the hard reality. All these advancements in field of science of technology would be of no use if we cannot save the very place where we are living- Earth. This conference is efforts which will surely be go a long way for awakening the ignorant human being.
 It is noteworthy that SIOLI will be working effectively for environmental awareness in the states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal, J & K and UT Chandigarh.
The conference will start with an inaugural session, followed by 3 technical sessions & a valedictory session.  Kaptan Singh Solanki, honorable Governor of Haryana will be the chief guest for inaugural session.  Justice Swatanter Kumar will deliver the welcome address followed by motivational address by Dr. S.V. Subba Rao. Justice Hemant Gupta, Chief Justice Madhya Pradesh High Court as well as Justice Shiavax Jal Vazifdar, Chief Justice Punjab Haryana Court will also be present. Kaptan Singh Solanki will give the inaugural address followed by vote of thanks by Dr. Arun Kumar Grover, Vice Chancellor Panjab University. Valedictory session will have Justice Sanjay Karol- Acting Chief Justice, Himachal Pradesh High Court  as the chief guest. The session will start with a welcome address by Justice Swatanter Kumar followed by an address by Dr. T.P. Singh, Deputy Regional Director, And International Union for Conservation of Nature, Bangkok which will include the details of environment conservation at a global level. After this, the guest of honour- Justice Jawad Rahim, Acting Chairperson NGT and Justice A.B. Chaudhary, Judge Punjab and Haryana High court will also interact with audience. Followed by a presidential address by Justice Surya Kant, there would be a final address by the chief guest. Mr. Umendra Dutt will present the vote of thanks.     
The lineup of speakers is enviable. Laxman Singh Laporiya - Convener Gram Vikas Navyuvak Mandal; Umendra Dutt - Convener, Kheti Virasat Mission and an environmentalist- Sudhendra Sharma will be talking about Air Pollution in Technical session-I which will be organised under chairmanship of  Justice TPS Mann, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court and co-chairpersonship of -Guruprasad Mohapatra, Chairman , Airport Authority of India. Similarly, Technical Session-II, which will be a discussion on water pollution will have Justice Mahesh Grover, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court as chairperson and Dr Justice Jawad Rahim, Acting Chairperson, NGT as co-chairperson. The speakers for this session are famous water man from Alwar Rajendra Singh,  Sumant Pandey - Yashwant Rao Chavan Academy of Development Administration (YADA) ; Wing Commander Rommel Luke - Smart Education and Welfare Association (SEWA) to name a few. Finally, the third session which is a discussion regarding management of solid waste will be held. For this session,  Justice Ajay Mittal, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court will be the chairman and  SPS Parihar, Chairman, Central Pollution Control Board will be the co-chairman. The speakers who will be the part of this discussion have Dr. Krishna Rao, Director Niper and Sridhar Pabbisetty, CEO, Namma Bengaluru Foundation among others.  
Reeta Kohli, Senior Advocate and member of the organizing committee ends up her view by saying that with Plastic has become the biggest bane of India & the conference will discuss ways to banish this from our lives. With the example of water rationing in South Africa's Cape Town fresh in our minds, India is no better as far as water conservation is concerned. So we have people like the famous waterman Rajendra Singh who will share thoughts on this.

GGSCW organizes Farewell Party

Chandigarh 21st April:- Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, sector 26, Chandigarh today bid goodbye to its final year students. The campus was beautifully decorated in vibrant colors and an enthralling show was arranged for the students, from all streams, to participate and showcase their talent. A cultural extravaganza of Punjabi, Afghani and Western performances was presented by the juniors to entertain their seniors and faculty members. The gala event was organized by the Dean Student Welfare Committee of the College.
The main attraction was modeling performances by the senior girls who sashayed down the ramp dressed in bright hues with dazzling smile on their faces. Simran Parmar of M.A (Economics) was crowned Miss GGSCW 2018 followed by Tanveer Kaur of B.Com as the Ist RUNNER UP and Sukhpreet  Kaur of M.A (Economics) as IInd RUNNER UP. Pratibha Sharma of M.A (Economics) was crowned as Miss Charming whereas the title of Miss Elegant was bagged by Vaishali of B.A.
Dr. Jatinder Kaur, Principal of the College urged the ambassadors of the College to be pragmatic and focused towards their goal.  She wished them the very best in all walks of life and also reminded the outgoing students of their responsibilities towards community and nation at large.

Manav Rachna Celebrates World Earth Day: To Draw Attention to Pressing Environmental Issues

Chandigarh 21st April:- Drawing attention to environmental issues of pressing concern, Manav Rachna International School, Mohali organized a five-day Earth Carnival coinciding with the World Earth Day on Sunday.
The school turned into one big community of Earth lovers, spreading awareness about common environmental issues like conservation of water and electricity, the need to grow more plants and much more during the Earth Carnival, which began on April 19 and will continue till April 23.
Multifarious activities were conducted involving the students to bring age-appropriate awareness among the students about environmental issues. The enthusiasm was palpable as students keenly took part in art and craft and poster making activities in large numbers.
Children discussed the impact of human activities on the environment and came up with ideas that can make a difference at the individual level. They also learned theme-related songs and dances and took out awareness drives, underlining the importance of taking small steps to achieve bigger goals.
The school resonated with the thought-provoking messages of students, who are determined to bring about a difference to make the Earth a better place for future generations.
The celebrations concluded with a special assembly, where everyone took a pledge to save Mother Earth and make it a healthy and beautiful place to live.

Gian Jyoti Global School Celebrates Earth Day

Chandigarh 21st April:- Gian Jyoti Global School celebrated Earth Day at its campus in Mohali. On the occasion a special assembly was conducted to create awareness about the necessity of conserving the beauty of Mother Earth.
Mrs. Ranjeet Bedi, Principal, Gian Jyoti Global School speaking on the occasion said that the students made effective use of props and pictures showing various human activities which have spoiled the picturesque beauty of our planet. A rally was also organized from Bassi Theater to Rose Garden 3B2 conveying the hazardous effects of using plastic bags.
Mrs. Bedi further said that a plantation drive was conducted by Pre-Nursery toddlers who made effective use of props to emphasize on the importance of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
During the special assembly students of class X and XI performed a street play on the theme of ‘Save Water’. The assembly conducted on a happy note highlighted the message. She added that let’s make our Mother Earth a greener, cleaner and safer world.
