Maharishi Dayanand Public School organizes Poster Making Competition

Chandigarh 04th August:- Maharishi Dayanand Public School Daria, Chandigarh organized a Poster Making Competition in collaboration with Chandigarh Renewal Energy, Science and Technology Promotion Society (CREST), Chandigarh. Maximum students participated in the competition. This competition was divided into two categories i.e., junior and senior. Through the competition students expressed that five principles of renewable sources of energy are the sun, the wind, flowing water, biomass and heat from within the earth. Solar energy comes directly from the sun. The sun is a constant natural source of heat and light. Its radiation can be converted into electricity. Wind turbines produce electricity. Hydro-turbines use water power to generate hydroelectricity. Biomass is used to make heat, electricity and liquid fuels.
In junior category   Kumkum, Vishal, Tushar, Harminder bagged first, second and third prize and consolation prize  while Syshant, Rohit and Dhruvash in senior category got first, second , third and consolation position respectively.
Principal Dr .Vinod Kumar gave away prizes to the winners. He told that the main aim of this competition was to create awareness about Renewable energy in daily life.

Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association Holds its General House Meeting

Chandigarh 04th August:- The General House Meeting of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association, Chandigarh has been convened today to discuss the issues related to the parking problems faced by the Members of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association in which it has been unanimously decided that there will a tow away zone from entry gate including gate no. 1, 2 and 4 to near rock garden side i.e. exit gate and there will be one way entry from Secretariat side.
Further it has been unanimously passed that private vehicles will not be allowed except Ola and Uber cabs in which Members of the Bar are sitting. The New Car stickers will be given to Members of the Bar with effect from 08.08.2017.
The above said resolution has been passed by show off hands by the Members of the Bar. Further it has been unanimously decided that Rs. 500/- shall be charged as fine from the Members of the Bar who will park their vehicles in tow away zone.

Surya Foundation Distributes Sewing Machines & Beauty Kits to Beneficiaries of Vocational Training Courses

Chandigarh 04th August:- The Surya Foundation, NGO today organized a valedictory function to give away the certificates and Kits to the beneficiaries of Vocational training courses in the trades of Beauty culture and Cutting and Tailoring.
Dr. Ramneek Sharma, Director of the Surya Foundation informed that these courses were conducted and successfully completed at Village Pabhat of Zirakpur in collaboration with SOSVA (north).
Beneficiaries were given sewing machines and Beauty Kits to start working from day one. Each course had 25 beneficiaries each.

SPEAK India organizes Inter School Painting Competition at Saravhitkari School

Chandigarh 04th August:- SPEAK India (Society for Promotion of Ethical & Affordable Health Care) organized an interschool painting competition  at Saravhitkari School, Sector 40 D on healthy lifestyle.  Welcoming Dr. Kumar Principal of the school B.S.Kanwar, underlined a big role of schools and teachers in health education. Over a 100 students from 10 different schools showed their creativity & painting skills in the competition. Students made drawings with strong messages against use of drugs, eating fast food etc.
Dr. R.Kumar a Senior Eye specialist & President of SPEAK introduced the subject before the onset of competition and called upon the youth to inculcate healthy habits to usher in Healthy India.  Dr. Ram Kumar While emphasizing the role of healthy life style i.e. balanced and appropriate foods, regular yoga and exercises, adequate sleep, ethics in every aspect of life, he focused on young children’s habits that lead to poor health. He specially focused on the necessity of 10-12 glasses of water per day.  He advised school canteens to set a good example by banning fried foods, high carbohydrate foods and colas and teas and make a paradigm shift to fruits, sprouts, curds etc He cautioned over the abuse of medicines, diagnostic tests, interventions by the patients and doctors.
Dr. R. Kumar said that most ailments are trivial and are self limiting. Many other symptoms may be due to underlying stress. The consultation of a doctor, use of medicines of surgery should not be a habit-it should be done when absolutely necessary.
Rashim Verma, Fine Art Teacher, of the School said that the students were divided into two groups Grade 6-8 & Grade 9-12. The prizes to the winning students will be given by Sanjay Tandon, who will be the chief guest at the school function on August 5.
It is noteworthy that Speak India plans to hold street plays, full length plays, one act play competition, Kavi sammelan, Wakathon, yoga competition, debates and talks to spread the twin messages of healthy life style and to avoid abuse of medical resources. This is a part of 'selling health through education' campaign and youth is the most fertile medium for the same.
