The Kaldighar Trust, organizes Race Against Drugs

Baru Sahib 12th November:- Bibi Man Kaur, gold medalist at World Masters Athletics at the age of 102, today flagged off “Race against Drugs’’, the marathon which began at Sukhna Lake. 
The marathon was organised by The Kaldighar Trust, headquartered at Baru Sahib, Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh in order to focus attention on the increasing drug menace in the country. The organisation runs two Drug-De-Addiction and Rehabilitation centres, with the name, Akal Drug De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Centres.
The marathon was joined by 400 runners including students of Akal Academy school and MSK Public school, Village Swara, District Mohali, senior citizens, college youngsters, fire marshals, marathon enthusiasts and people who have been treated by the trust for addiction and who have recovered from the same.
The marathon commenced from Sukhna Lake at 7:15 am crossing Rock Garden & Bougainvillea Garden  and ended back at Sukhna Lake at 8pm. Runners raised slogans for drug free society and carried banners and placards during the “Race against Drugs’’.
All the runners were given T-shirts and certificates.
While appealing to youth to not consume drugs and stay healthy and sporty, Bibi Maan Kaur said that Drug addiction is ruining society and youths are getting financially, physically and mentally affected. She gave call to all sections of society to understand the gravity of situation and should come forward to fight against the drug menace
Addressing the gathering, Dr. (Col.) Rajinder Singh, Director, Akal Drug De-Addiction Centers said that the goal of the campaign is to mobilize support and to inspire people to act against drug abuse and trafficking. The marathon is a way encourage young people to put their health first and never take support of drugs as a solution to their problems.
The event culminated with oath taken by participants to make society free of drug and alcohol addiction.

पंडित यशोदा नंदन ज्योतिष अनुसंधान केंद्र एवं चेरिटेबल ट्रस्ट लगाया ने वार्षिक 'माँ का लंगर'

Chandigarh 12th November:- पंडित यशोदा नंदन ज्योतिष अनुसंधान केंद्र एवं चेरिटेबल ट्रस्ट (कोटकपूरा ) की ओर से  अपने सैक्टर 20 स्थित केंद्र में वार्षिक ' माँ का लंगर' लगाया गया I ट्रस्ट के संचालक पंडित अमरीश कुमार शास्त्री की ओर से माँ की पूजा उपरांत 101 ब्राह्मणों को ब्रह्मभोज करवाया गया I
इस मौके पर दश्मनी अखाडा सरहिंद के महाँ  मंडलेश्वर श्री श्री 1008 ईश्वरानन्द गिरि महराज ने विशेष तौर पर लंगर में पहुँच कर भक्तों आशीर्वाद दिया I माता मनसा देवी मंदिर चंडीगढ़ ओर गुरुकुल से आये ब्राह्मणों की पूजा उपरांत लगाए गए I
लंगर में स्थानीय लोगों के साथ साथ हिमाचल प्रदेश, हरियाना, पंजाब और दिळी से आए लोगों नें लंगर का प्रसाद ग्रहण किया
पंडित अमरीश शास्त्री नें बताया की ट्रस्ट की ओर से हर वर्ष शरद नवरात्रों के बाद इस लंगर का आयोजन किया जाता है I

Nari Jagriti Manch organizes Entertainment Sports Activities for Children

Chandigarh 12th November:- Youth Club of the Nari Jagriti Manch (Reg.), organized various entertainment programs for children in the adjoining area of Hanumant Dham Temple, Sector 40, on the occasion of Children's Day.
Dr Aarti Verma, senior physician, as the chief guest, while the social worker Nisha Sharma and Neena Sood and Naresh Garg were present as special guests. The event was held under the chairmanship of the Manch President Neena Tiwari.
About 200 participants from the age group 5 years to 15 years participated. Interesting and entertaining events organized among children included Jalebi games, Straw and Pin with Twist Games, Blind Fold, Marble Collection, Musical Chair with Twist etc. Apart from this, Selfie Point was the center of special attraction for the children, in which the children also took pictures with a breathtaking view.
On this occasion, Alka Joshi, a prominent member of the manch said that in this era of the Internet, children have forgotten fun games.  The Youth Club of the forum has been working towards inculcating values in children aimed at making them a responsible citizen of the society so that they can be able to perform something different and better in society. She said that if children take part in any competition, then they develop a positive attitude. The main objective of this event is to see the right path for the children, which will continue in future also.
On this occasion, Neena Tiwari, said that the Youth Club of the Forum always encourages children to move forward and more such activities are planned.

Bhawant Mann Donates Rs. 20 Lakh to PGI

Chandigarh 12th November:- Bhagwant Mann, Member of Parliament, Sangrur, Punjab has kindly donated a sum of Rs 20 lakh to Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh (PGIMER) under MPLAD fund. The amount has been transferred by Deputy Commissioner, Sangrur to Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh for the purchase of stainless steel patient trolleys to be used for patients being treated in Emergency, Advanced Trauma Centre and New OPD block of the Institute.  
Over 10,000 patients visit hospital every day for diagnosis and treatment of their ailments.  The 'Institute' Emergency and ATC has intake capacity of 110 and 100 patients respectively, where around 600 to 800 patients are admitted at any given time of the day and the occupancy hovers above 300 percent of capacity.  These trolleys will help in mitigating the sufferings of the needy patients who report at the 'Institute' for the treatment of their ailments and need to be moved around for tests and surgery.

PetuPankaj: India's First Exclusive Biryani Food Joint and North India’s Largest Base Kitchen Launched

Chandigarh 12th November:- ‘PetuPankaj’, the newest Quick Service Restaurant (QSR), launched today its first outlet at Sector 8-B Market in Chandigarh, along with a huge Base Kitchen, largest in North India, based in the Industrial Area, Phase-1, Chandigarh. The outlet will formally start serving 18 varieties of authentic Indian Biryanis, covering the regions and styles of Delhi, Awadh, Bengal, Andhra, Malabaar and Kashmir, prepared on the original ancient concept of health benefits, 13th November onwards.
The base kitchen of ‘PetuPankaj’ was inaugurated by Chef Vivek Saggar, General Secretary, Indian Culinary Forum and Dr Ashish Chopra, renowned Culinary Historian, in the august presence of Chef Sireesh Saxena, former Vice-President, ITDC; Chef Arvind Rai, Corporate Chef, ITDC; and Celebrity Chef Dr. Izzat Hussain. The launch program was conducted by Dr. Mahe Tilat Siddiqui, first translator of Ramayan in Urdu.
Giving more detail about the concept of ‘PetuPankaj’ Pankaj Gupta, Director, Pangu Hospitality Services Pvt. Ltd., said that he is extremely happy to see the ball rolling, as we have spent a long time to research the recipes of authentic biryanis. The launch is being expected to uplift the restaurant scenario and concept of traditional foods in India. I hope the people of tri-city will love the taste of our biryanis.
He added further that with 18 Biryanis on the menu, 9 vegetarian and 9 non-veg, the Biryani Restaurant proposes other accompaniments as well. The use of common salt will be substituted with other types of healthy and natural salts, along with ingredients which will balance the digestivity of the food as per the Ayurvedic performa. Four signature biryanis and several other signature products, solely developed on self-generated ‘secret recipes’ by Corporate Chef Sandeep Bansal, are also being introduced shortly.
Chef Vivek Saggar, General Secretary, Indian Culinary Forum said that we are concerned over the lost authenticity of the Biryani preparations and I am happy now that PetuPankaj is bringing only original flavours to the table.
The restaurant is using only eco-friendly material for packaging of the products, and limiting, if not eliminating, the use of plastic in service. The signature products will be served in signature takeaway pots, a souvenir for the customers. Dev Samaj Institutions organizes Walk & Signature Campaign on Theme of 'Save Animals- Save Humanity'

Chandigarh 12th November:- Dev Samaj Institutions of Chandigarh, under the aegis of Dev Samaj Society, organised 'Save Animals - Save Humanity' walk and signature campaign . More than 600 students and faculty members of all the three institutions which included Dev Samaj College of Education-36, Dev Samaj College for Women-45, and I. S. Dev Samaj Senior Secondary School-21, participated in the event. The walk was flagged off by The Secretary, Dev Samaj Society, Nirmal Singh Dhillon from the Dev Samaj Head Office-36, here in the presence of Member Dev Samaj managing council and Principal of Dev Samaj College of Education, Sec 36 Dr. (Mrs.) Agnese Dhillon, Mrs. Sabiha Dhillon, Chief Co-ordinator I.S.Dev Samaj School, Manwinder Singh, Chief Administrative Officer of DSCE- 36B, Dr.(Mrs.) Jaspal Kaur, Principal Dev Samaj College for Women-45, Mrs. Loveleen Bedi, Principal I.S. Dev Samaj School -21 and NSS/NCC Program Officers of respective institutions.
The walk concluded at the I. S. Dev Samaj Senior Secondary School after taking a route via Kisan Bhawan rotary, J. W. Marriott roundabout , Aroma lights and meat market in Sec 21. The idea to pass via meat market was also to raise awareness among the meat dealers that animals too felt pain and killing them for food was not correct.
The walk focused on promoting vegetarianism and ending cruelty towards animals. The enthusiastic participants raised slogans about showing kindness towards animals and adopting vegetarian way of living. The employees of Dev Samaj Society and the students of Dev Samaj Institutions pledged to save and protect animals. The students were holding placards against animal cruelty which they had made themselves for the walk.  
Dr.(Mrs.) Agnese Dhillon addressed the gathering  and encouraged  students to make general public aware about the need for animal welfare.
