DishTV Increases Focus on HD:Adds New Regional HD Channels

Chandigarh 18th October:- Catering to the demand of regional viewers and bringing them under the High Definition umbrella, DishTV, Asia’s largest DTH service provider, has added four new regional HD channels to its HD offerings. With addition of these channels, DishTV encourages regional language subscribers to opt for HD TV viewing in their preferred language such as Marathi, Kannada, Bangla & Telugu.
Announcing this new development Arun Kapoor, Chief executive Officer, DishTV India said that DishTV has always taken a lead in enhancing TV viewing experience and exploring opportunities to bring wholesome entertainment to the audience. With a sharp focus on regional language content, the move aims at connecting strongly with the regional language subscribers. Addition of 4 new regional HD channels will not only strengthen our presence in the HD space but will also diversify our offerings.
Having already built a strong connection with the regional speaking audience through their regional channels in HD such as Gemini HD in Telugu, and Sun TV HD, Sun Music HD and KTV HD in Tamil, the addition of 4 more new channels exemplify DishTV’s commitment to cater to a wide range of viewers in all the regions. The newly added channels from DishTV include Zee Talkies HD, Colors Kannada HD, Colors Bangla HD and ETV HD.  With these measures, DishTV has taken the total count of HD channels from 51 to 55.
DishTV’s newly added channels will be available to the subscriber for a free preview till November 1, 2016.



Usha Launches New Range of OTGs This Festive Season

Nirankari Satguru Mata Inaugurates Voluntary Sewa

Chandigarh 18th October:- Nirankari Satguru Mata Savinder Hardev Ji Maharaj inaugurated here today voluntary Sewa towards preparations for the 69th Annual Nirankari Sant Samagam, at the vast Samagam Ground opposite Nirankari Sarovar along Burari Road in Delhi North. The ceremony was performed by Her Holiness by a cut in the ground. This information was given by Mohinder Singh Sanyojak Branch Chandigarh. 
Mohinder Singh said that Lakhs of devotees of the Sant Nirankari Mission from all over India and abroad are expected to attend the 3-day Samagam from November 19 to 21, 2016, which will be dedicated to the memory of Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj with the theme–A Tribute to Humanness. The tented township spread over more than 400 acres of land will have all the necessary amenities like water supply, electricity, sewerage, etc. Besides Langar there will be canteens to provide tea, coffee and snacks at subsidized rates. The huge Satsang Pandal will be surrounded by offices, publication stalls, etc.
Addressing the Sewa Dal volunteers and other devotees, Satguru Mata Ji said that over the years Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj has given a beautiful lay out to the Samagam. If we act upon the same, the coming Samagam will become all the more beautiful.
Satguru Mata Ji said that as often stated by Baba Ji, no Sewa is big or small. We have only to perform it with the spirit of selfless service. We have to keep our sense of ego or ‘I’ away and perform the duty whatever is assigned to us. Baba Ji himself donned the Sewa Dal uniform and served selflessly for years together. Satguru Mata Ji pointed out that many devotees are already taking part in preliminary preparations. It is not a small thing to find them working without caring for their own domestic responsibilities, comforts etc., particularly when we find the feelings of selfishness so prevalent in the world outside. Let us make every effort to make all arrangements beautiful so that devotees coming from outside find their stay comfortable.

IIM Calcutta Holds Conference on “25 Years of Economic Reform:Retrospect and Prospects”

International Honors for PGI Anaesthetist

Chandigarh 18th October:- PGI Chandigarh Anaesthetist, Dr Babita Ghai, Professor, Department of Anesthesia, received many international laurels while attending 15th World Congress Pain at Japan. 
She has been elected as co-Editor of Acute pain Special Interest Group of International Association for Study of Pain (IASP). She is also selected as Task Force Member of International Pain Registry of IASP. She was invited as guest faculty to chair a session during this conference. Additionally she was also invited, as special invitee, for “core competency pain education program” during this world congress on pain. IASP is the highest leading professional forum for science, practice, and education in the field of pain. IASP brings together scientists, clinicians, health-care providers and policymakers to stimulate and support the study of pain and to translate that knowledge into improved pain relief worldwide. Dr Babita Ghai is associated with IASP since 2004 and is also a recipient of IASP developing countries education grant award of US$10,000 to educate nurses about pain management for year 2014-2015.  



PGI Professor Awarded with Dr. Sarinder Man Singh Endowment Award

Chandigarh 18th October:- Dr. S K Singh, Professor of Urology at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh was awarded Dr. Sarinder Man Singh Endowment Award and DUSCON Gold Medal for his outstanding organizational contribution to Urological Society of India and to North Zone Chapter during 26th Annual Meeting of the Society held on October 13-15, 2016 in Agra.  Last year, the award was received by Prof. S K Sharma, Ex-Director, PGI.  He is happy to follow the foot step of his respected teacher.  Dr. Singh is the first Indian who is the member of core and executive committee of two international society namely International Consultation on Urologic Diseases (ICUD) and of World Urological Oncology Federation (WUOF).  Earlier, he was a member of governing body of Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi for three years, member of Senate, Panjab University of eight years.  Prof. Singh, Prof. Chopra & Prof. Chugh were nominated by the Governor of Punjab as person of academic eminence and served Baba Farid University of Health Sciences as a Senate member.  
Dr. S K Singh said that this is all due to the global reputation of the Institute and the faculty members command outside.  The PGI is a great Institute and provides various opportunities to people working here for serving the public.  He was earlier honored with “Punjab Rattan” Award for his extraordinary services to the public of the society. 
Dr. S K Singh has made significant contribution to basic research as applied to urology.  His area of interest has been Urological cancers and urinary stone diseases.  His works have been recognized globally and has been cited extensively. 
He has been invited to moderate and chair scientific session on Stone and another scientific session on Prostate Cancer during 36th World Congress of Urology (SIU) 2016 at Buenos Aires, Argentina to be held from October 20-23, 2016.   This is a great honor to an Indian scientist.

NSS Special Camp Concludes at GGSCW

Chandigarh 18th October:- Guru Gobind Singh College for Women Sector 26 Chandigarh held NSS special Camp 2016-17 from 11th October 2016 to 17th October 2016. During the camp various activities like Campus Cleaning Drive, Thanks giving, Joy of Sharing, Visit to Snehalya Orphanage, Sewa at Gurudwara Shri Nada Sahib, Sports competitions, Dusshera Celebration and Raavan making etc. were held. Also, workshops like Health and Hygiene by Dr. Seerat Chiraya (GMSH Sector 16 Chandigarh), Stress Management Workshop by Sister Neha and Sister Vandana (Brahma Kumaris Sector 33 Chandigarh) and Art and Craft Workshop by Ms. Narita Wadhera and Ms. Komal (Creative Hands Hobby Classes) were conducted. 110 NSS volunteers participated in the camp with full vigor and enthusiasm to make the camp a success. The camp concluded with Valedictory function where Professor Bikram Rana, SLO NSS and Navdeep Sharma, NSS coordinator, P.U., Chandigarh handed over trophies and prizes to the volunteers
