Science Students Having Hands on Experience at Gian Jyoti Global School

Chandigarh 05th June:- When everybody is enjoying the summer vacations, Gian Jyoti Global School is committed to provide hands on experience to its students of 10th and 12th Class in their labs. So that they can understand their subject in depth and can do good in their classes.
To achieve this goal Gian Jyoti Global School is providing exposure to its students in their Science Labs which includes Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Atal Tinkering Lab (RoboGian). The Teachers are working hard on their students to make them understand the necessity of practical in their life and for understanding the subject properly. 
Mrs. Ranjeet Bedi, Principal, Gian Jyoti Global School, took personal interest and visited all the labs during the practical days and kept on checking that how students are performing in labs.  She emphasized and motivated the students that their work in the labs will pay them in achieving their goals in life and in final exams too.

World Environment Day: 100 Saplings Planted under ‘Rise for Green’ Campaign

Chandigarh 05th June:- To mark World Environment Day, Tech Mahindra Smart Academy for Healthcare at Mohali today initiated a campaign-‘Rise for Green’. Hundreds of students, teachers and staff participated in campaign by planting over 100 saplings around the premises.
‘Rise for Green’ drive will continue till August end, said Loveleen Kacker, CEO, Tech Mahindra Foundation. She said that under Mahindra Hariyali Project, over the years 14,963,152 trees have been planted. Our endeavor is to reach the milestone figure of 15 Million.
Meanwhile 11 locations of Tech Mahindra initiated plantation drive to replant damaged saplings along with planting new saplings. Keeping in mind the local climate and soil, different saplings were planted at different locations of Tech Mahindra Foundation countrywide in an effort to ‘create an environment that would need no protection’.
Tech Mahindra SMART Academy for Healthcare in Mohali is a state-of-the-art institute established by Tech Mahindra Foundation that conducts skilling programmes in healthcare. The Academy trains allied healthcare professionals such as operation theatre technicians, dialysis technicians, hospital front office and billing executives and more.

World Environment Day: MCC Holds Cleanliness Drive

Chandigarh 05th June:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh cleaned N-choe during the occassion of Environment Day on 5th June. The cleanliness drive was kicked off by Davesh Moudgil, Mayor of Chandigarh in presence of K.K. Yadav, Municipal Commissioner and other councillors and officers of MCC. During the drive 7 different teams of MCC cleaned the N-choe from Boganvillia garden, sector 3 to Palm garden, Sector 42.

School of Public Health of PGI Celebrates World Environment Day

Chandigarh 05th June:- School of Public Health celebrated the word Environment Day at PGIMER, Chandigarh. The event was attended by over 30 doctor, nurses and other medical and para-medical staff. The programme included street play, tree plantation, songs, slogan writing and expert lecture by Dr.Ravindra Khaiwal, Additional Professor of Environment Health, School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh. 
Dr. Ravindra Khaiwal highlighted that there are several toxic chemicals are used to make a plastic bag, which can leach out readily such as bisphenol-A and phthalate. He further added that there is increasing evidence that these chemicals disrupt Human Endocrine and hormone system leading to adverse health impacts. Hence, he said that we should avoid eating and packing warm food in plastic bags or containers. Dr. Ravindra Khaiwal mentions that we need to encourage  people who use cotton bags, avoid gift packing and recycle their plastic items. 
Dr. Maninder Kaur, Senior Demonstrator of Environment Health, School of Public Health, PGIMER mentioned that plastic item takes several years to degrade leading to pollution of water bodies, soil, and air. The event was supported by Tanbir Singh, Neha Aggarwal, Vivek Malik and Sachin Dhawan.
Dr. Ravindra Khaiwal also delivered a keynote lecture on ‘Beat the plastic pollution’ during the public function in Panchkula being organized by Department of Environment and Climate Change, Haryana. The chief guest of the event was Goel, Minister for Environment, and Climate Change, Haryana. 
World Environment Day is celebrated every year on 5th June to create awareness about environmental issues and India is the global host country for 2018. The theme of this year is ‘Beat Plastic Pollution,’ which aim to combat single-use plastic pollution.

“Make More of Your World”: BBC World Service Kick Start India Campaign with Huge Public Splash

Chandigarh 05th June:- BBC WORLD SERVICE created a huge shout-out in Mumbai this weekend by illustrating a new public splash to support their “Make more of your world” campaign.
Renowned Bollywood actress Divya Dutta visited the site to witness the artwork. The campaign was developed in house by BBC Creative who worked in partnership with the renowned graffiti writer turned artist, INSA. INSA is at his very best when on location, painting bright and beautiful art straight onto the environment. As part of the campaign the BBC Marketing team commissioned a 100ft wall opposite Juhu beach where INSA produced a bespoke artwork that connects directly with its surroundings, literally making more of the world around us.
INSA split the 100ft wall into 12 frames and turned grey, smoking chimneys stacks into beautiful green trees. The 12 frame narrative is brought to life using an image that changes ever-so-slightly each time, a labour intensive and meticulous task.  The end result is completely mesmerising, creating a looping ‘Gif’ that blurs the offline and online worlds.  At either side of the wall, people can scan QR codes taking them to YouTube pages where audiences can view the 30 second TV ad.
This brand campaign highlights new BBC WORLD SERVICE local languages that are now available to audiences in India. The main objective is to drive reach and to position the BBC as a news provider that offers something unique for audiences.
Lisa Santoro, Head of BBC Marketing, World Service said that this was an extremely ambitious campaign from the outset. The extensive market research, developing a creative proposition that would work across an entire country and launching in 6 languages simultaneously was an amazing achievement. We delivered an integrated marketing campaign that allowed us to be innovative, creative and dynamic in a fast moving, competitive market.
BBC World Service has enhanced existing language services and has launched 12 new services including 4 in India which are: Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi and Telugu. This means the BBC World Service will be available in 42 languages including English. Along with developing these language services BBC World Service continue to ensure their editorial offering covers News in its widest sense and that audiences are aware of this.
The campaign drives people to consume BBC News content to help them make more of their world.

Tree Plantation Drive organized by Chandigarh Traders Association

Chandigarh 05th June:- Members of Chandigarh Traders Association, Sector 17 Chandigarh, assembled at Sector 17 under the Presidentship of Kamaljit Singh Panchhi for a Tree Plantation Drive today on World Environment Day. This cause will also help in proving the problem of Global Warming. The Campaign aims creating awareness among people of Chandigarh for clean and green environment in Chandigarh and appeals to the Traders and general public to plant at least one tree at different places of the city.
On the occasion Kamaljit Panchhi said by the next 10 years, earth will become four degree hotter than its now. Himalayan glaciers are melting at a rapid rate, so all of us lend our hand to fight global warming. Plant more trees, don’t waste water.
Kamaljit Singh  Panchhi further said that India is the global host of 2018 World Environment Day with “Beat Plastic Pollution” as the theme for this year’s edition, urges industries, individuals, traders, communities to come together and explore sustainable alternatives and urgently reduce the production and excessive use of single-use plastic polluting our oceans, damaging marine life and threatening human health.
On this occasion members pledge that everyone of us does at least one green good deed daily towards our Green Social Responsibility, there will be billions of green good deeds daily on the planet.

Almonds Will Make Healthy Difference to Life: Fitness Expert Hardeep Singh

They contain many essential nutrients, including protein and healthy fats, making them a nutrient-rich and convenient snack that can help keep you going throughout the day. Popular Chef Debashis Biswas and renowned Nutritionist Aastha Khungar conducted a live cooking demonstration and a presentation on learnings from various nutrition studies on the health benefits of almonds. The interactive session also included a live demonstration by respected Fitness Expert Hardeep Singh Malii who spoke about the importance of following a regular exercise regime in addition to a healthy diet including almonds.

 Fitness expert Hardeep Singh who showcased some basic exercises that can be easily done at home and shared his views on incorporating small changes, like eating a handful of almonds every day and working out regularly, to help maintain a healthy life.
Nutritionist Aastha Khungar talked about the various health and nutritional benefits of eating almonds. She spoke about almonds’ anti-oxidant qualities (being rich in vitamin E), role in satiety, weighti and diabetes management and maintaining a healthy heartiii as demonstrated by decades of published research.
Nutritionist Aastha Khungar said that the increasing incidence of heart disease, obesity and other lifestyle-related issues calls for continuous focus on a healthy diet in today’s fast paced life. One simple step towards healthier eating is by incorporating healthy snacks like almonds in your daily diet. A study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association found that a daily snack of 42 grams of almonds, consumed as part of an overall healthy diet, improved a number of risk factors for heart disease. In addition to significantly improving Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL/bad) cholesterol, snacking on almonds also reduced central adiposity (belly fat) and waist circumference, all well-established heart disease risk factors.
Chef Debashis Biswas, prepared simple yet delicious almond snack recipes in a matter of minutes, added that eating healthy does not mean you have to give up eating snacks. Smart snacking is the key! A handful of almonds, for instance, may have satiating properties that promote feelings of fullness, which may keep hunger at bay between meals and steer you away from less healthy options. They are an ideal ‘smart snack’.
Owing to our extremely busy lifestyle, exercise of any kind may take a back-seat for many people. However, not taking care of one’s health and fitness may lead to sedentary lifestyle related ailments.
