Mega Sight and Sound Show on Sri Guru Gobind Singh on 22nd February in Tricity

Chandigarh 21st February:- Recently established Chandigarh chapter of the World Punjabi Organization (WPO) is presenting a mega sight and sound show ‘Sarbansdani’ to commemorate the 350th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Gobind Singh on Wednesday, 22nd February.
The Governor of Punjab and Administrator Chandigarh V.P. Singh Badnore shall be the chief guest at this show, which shall feature nearly 200 artists with visual story telling using giant LED wall. ‘Sarbansdani’ has been produced and directed by famous pioneer of light and sound shows, Harbux Singh Latta.
Headed by prominent business persons Rupinder Singh Sachdeva, as President and Davinder Singh Thapar, as Secretary of the Chandigarh Chapter of WPO, intend to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Punjab through various activities and programmes besides undertaking social service projects. The world president of WPO, Vikramjit Singh Sahney, shall also be attending the inaugural event.
Rupinder Singh Sachdeva informed that WPO has opened its 13th Chapter, the third one in India after Mumbai and Jalandhar, and having presence in 10 other countries across the globe, including Canada, Dubai, Iran, Kuwait, Thailand, Oman, Pakistan, Singapore, UK and USA.
WPO Chandigarh Chapter initiates its activities in the region with the staging of the mega sight and sound show, Sarbansdani, to commemorate the 350th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji.
World Punjabi Organisation (WPO) is an International non-political body of Punjabis to bring about “Punjabi Renaissance” having prominent Punjabi Industrialists, Businessmen, Sportsmen, Journalists, Artists and achievers from diverse fields as its members from all over the Globe. Formally launched on 10thJanuary 1998 by I.K. Gujral, the then Prime Minister of India, WPO is actively engaged in promoting Punjabi Brotherhood, folk artand culture to foster social, economic and cultural bondage among Punjabis around the world. WPO is engaged in various humanitarian service projects, philanthropic activities, and promotion of art and culture.

Chandigarh 21st February:- A Case FIR No. 19, U/S 68-1-14 Excise Act has been registered in PS-03, Chandigarh against a person Subhash R/o Janta Colony, Naya Gaon, Mohali (PB) who was arrested near Post Office Sector 9, Chandigarh, while consuming liquor at public place. Accused later on bailed out. Investigation of the case is in progress.
Two different cases U/S 68-1-14 Excise Act have been registered in PS-11, Chandigarh against two persons Satish Kumar and Vinod Kumar who were arrested while consuming liquor at public place. Accused later on bailed out. Investigation of the case is in progress.
Three different cases U/S 68-1-14 Excise Act have been registered in PS-Sarangpur, Chandigarh against three persons Raj Kumar, Ram Singh and Manoj Kumar who were arrested while consuming liquor at public place. Accused later on bailed out. Investigation of the case is in progress.
Five different cases U/S 68-1-14 Excise Act have been registered in PS-17, Chandigarh against five persons Manjit Singh, Basant Lal, Jitender Negi, Ricky and Ravi Kumar who were arrested while consuming liquor at public place. Accused later on bailed out. Investigation of the case is in progress.
Three different cases U/S 68-1-14 Excise Act have been registered in PS-26, Chandigarh against three persons Ashish, Islam and Rakesh who were arrested while consuming liquor at public place. Accused later on bailed out. Investigation of the case is in progress.
Five different cases U/S 68-1-14 Excise Act have been registered in PS-Ind. Area, Chandigarh against six persons Bhola Singh, Santosh Kumar, Ram Bharose, Gurjit Singh, Vikram Thakur and Ramesh Kumar who were arrested while consuming liquor at public place. Accused later on bailed out. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Five different cases U/S 68-1-14 Excise Act have been registered in PS-IT Park, Chandigarh against six persons Rajesh Kumar, Jarnail Singh, Ram Karan, Shankar, Mahinder Singh and Parkash Khati who were arrested while consuming liquor at public place. Accused later on bailed out. Investigation of the case is in progress.




महर्षि दयानंद जन्मोत्सव धूमधाम से सम्पन्न

Chandigarh21st February:- केंद्रीय आर्य सभा द्वारा आयोजित महर्षि दयानंद जन्मोत्सव  आर्य समाज  सेक्टर 7 में धूमधाम से धूमधाम से सम्पन्न हो गया। इस मौके पर आचार्य विष्णु मित्र वेदार्थी ने कहा कि महर्षि दयानंद ने 
सनातन परंपरा को अपनाया। सनातन वह है जो सदा से है। वह कभी विनाश नहीं होता। अनादिकाल से जो माननीय हो 
उसका विनाश किसी काल में नहीं हो सकता है। आज ज्ञान सिकुड़ रहा है। 
आचार्य विष्णु मित्र वेदार्थी ने कहा कि महर्षि दयानंद जी ने सत्यार्थ प्रकाश में केवल सत्यता पर ही प्रकाश डाला है। नवीन कल्पना चलाने का लेशमात्र भी उनका उद्देश्य नहीं था। वे तो समाज सुधारक थे। धर्म का मूल तत्व वेद हैं। वेद चक्षु हैं। वेद की आँख तो सदा रास्ता दिखाती है। महर्षि दयानंद जी ने आर्य समाज के दस नियमों में ईश्वर की वाणी को स्थान दिया है। वैदिक धर्म के मूल में आदिमूल परमेश्वर है। वही हमें जड़ों से जोड़ता है। 
चंडीगढ़ से वैदिक प्रवक्ता विक्रम कुमार विवेकी और जम्मू से पधारी विदूषी प्रतिभा पुरन्धि ने भी उपस्थितजनों को संबोधित किया। कल्याण देव वेदी और राजेश वर्मा ने मधुर भजन पेश कर सबको आत्मविभोर कर दिया। 
इस मौके पर   विद्वानों को  और शोभा यात्रा में  बढ़िया झांकी प्रस्तुत करने के लिये डीएवी स्कूलों  और आर्य समाजों को सम्मानित किया गया। इस मौके पर रविंद्र तलवाड़, जस्टिस प्रीतम पाल, जस्टिस एल बाहरी, डॉ विनोद कुमार, प्रकाशचन्द्र शर्मा, धर्मवीर बत्रा, कर्नल धर्मवीर, आरसी जीवन, मधु बहल सहित सभी चंडीगढ़, पंचकूला, सूरजपुर, डेराबस्सी, मोहाली, कुराली, रोपड़ के डीएवी  स्कूलों के प्रिंसिपल, टीचर्स और ट्राई सिटी आर्य समाजों के सदस्य भी मौजूद थे।



MCM Holds Cyber Crime Awareness Session

Chandigarh 21st February:- In an initiative to spread awareness about the rampant cyber crimes in this age of information technology, the Computer Science and Applications department of MCM DAV College for Women, in collaboration with Punjab Police, organized a session on 'How to remain safe on Internet'.
Gurjot Singh Kaler, DSP, State Cyber Crime, Punjab Police began the session by providing an overview of the status of cyber crime across various nations. In his informative address, Gurjot Singh focused on creating awareness about significance of IP address, Router vulnerability, ATM frauds, hacking attack, Facebook vulnerability, Deep Net, Dark Net and Phishing and, apprised the audience of the various cyber security strategies they can adopt to steer clear of any trouble in cyberspace. He stressed that given the increasing popularity of social media, sensitization about how to remain safe is of paramount importance.
Commending this initiative, MCM Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava said that given the pervasiveness of informational technology in every aspect of our lives, it important to equip ourselves with the knowledge about managing crucial information and safeguarding it from theft or unauthorized access and misuse.



SVGOI Holds Its Annual Convocation:500 Degrees Awarded to Students

Chandigarh 21st February:- Swami Vivekanand Group of Institutes held its Annual Convocation today, in the Lawns of Auditorium, SVGOI. His Excellence V P Singh Badnore (Governor Punjab)was the Chief Guest Of the Event and Prof.(Dr.) Mohan Paul Singh Ishar -Vice Chancellor, (Maharaja Ranjit Singh State Technical University, Bathinda), also presided over the Annual Convocation. In attendance were other dignitaries from the academic world the Chairman of Group, President of the Group, Director Group- Ms. Aruna Bhardhwaj, Director Academics-Dr. Archana Gupta, and Principal of the Institutes, Head of Departments and Faculty of SVGOI.
The Convocation began with a majestic and grand academic procession followed by the Maa Saraswati Vandana. The students and the audience were then enthralled by the rousing speech of the Chief Guest-‘V P Singh Badnore’ (Governor Punjab). He exhorted all the students to “Stand up and Start Up India”, he invited SVIETIANS to make use of the Central Govt. scheme for enabling seed capital for start-ups. He also appreciated the efforts made by SVGOI students in the diverse fields of academics, sports, curricular and co-curricular. He further emphasized contributing back to the community is being essential.
On this occasion, Director Group, presented the report on the last year and highlighted the achievements of the Institute. She said that as a living, evolving institution, SVGOI over the past year has tried to build on three fronts: 1) diversify its academic and disciplinary infrastructure 2) expand its student facilities and 3) build its profile both in the Punjab and the other states. She ended her speech with, “the aspect of SVGOI that gives me the greatest satisfaction is you: our student body. In your diversity you represent a microcosm of this great country and in your collective presence here today, you show us in miniature, what this country could be if it lives up to its extraordinary potential. She congratulates everyone once again on everything you have achieved and, on behalf of this great institution, wish you every happiness and success in the great adventure of life.
On this occasion, the Group conferred the Degree of ‘Post graduation and Graduation’ of batch (2015-16). Both the Chief Guest and Guest Of Honor went on to urge the students to follow principles and ethics while pursuing their respective careers and wished them the very best. Among the huge crowd one of the the student named, ‘Riya Gupta’ said she was proud to become an alumnus of such a glorious institute as SVGOI. The huge crowd of students was excited to visit the campus again and to meet their old good friends which were seen in the spark of their eyes. The students visited their classrooms and interacted with their teachers and also registered for the alumni membership to keep in touch with the college life and friends. A total of 500 Degrees were awarded to the students who have Post-Graduation and Graduation from different Departments of the Group (Institutes) the University also handed out Awards and Certificates to the Toppers of different courses.
The Convocation ended with a ‘Vote of Thanks’ by the Director Academics-Dr. Archana Gupta. In her brief and captivating address they inspired the graduates, students and faculty of the Group followed by the ‘National Anthem’ sung by the students of the Institute. Along with this the student left their memories by signing their autographs on the huge sign board which is a memorable moment for all of us & SVGOI.



Punjabi Crash Course for PGI Doctors and Nurses Ends

Chandigarh 21st February:- The  Punjabi crash course run by Panditrao Dharenavar in PGI  ends on International Mother language day.  21 day long Punjabi crash course was attended by 10 Doctors and 15 Nurses. The course which was meant to develop language skill to talk to patients in Punjabi and Hindi brought great interest among PGI doctors towards local language..  During the 21 day course most of the nurses opted to learn Hindi than Punjabi.
Panditrao who has successfully run the course said that he had many problems during the course because most of the doctors and nurses were too busy to attend classes, therefore he had to visit the departments to teach Punjabi and Hindi.
Panditrao said that he will run the Punjabi and Hindi classes everyday in future also so that all the doctors learn the local language.



PGI Ophthalmologists Bring Laurels to The Institute

Chandigarh 21st February:- Faculty members and residents at the Advanced Eye Centre of Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh (PGI)  won laurels for the Institute at the recently concluded National Annual Conference of the All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS) held at Jaipur  attended by over 8,000 Ophthalmologists from India and abroad. .
Prof Jagat Ram was honored as “International Hero of Ophthalmology in India” for having won the most prestigious Best  of the Best Video Award at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons Conference 2016.  He also won the Best Surgical Video Award at this AIOS Conference. Prof Sushmita Kaushik was honored as “International Hero of Ophthalmology in India” for her coveted oral presentation at the Annual Conference of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Chicago, 2016. Three postgraduate Research Theses from the Ophthalmology Department, PGI, Chandigarh were shortlisted in the final 12  from India for judging the Best Thesis. Dr Simar Rajan Singh’s Thesis entitled “Biodegradable Material for Glaucoma Drainage Devices– a Pilot study in Rabbits” was adjudged the Best Thesis of AIOS and was awarded Rs One Lac to attend the next American Academy of Ophthalmology Conference in USA. Dr Natasha Gautam”s Thesis entitled “Ability of Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography to Detect Progression in Glaucoma Suspects and Glaucoma Patients” was adjudged the second Runner up. Dr Ramanuj Samanta Received Best poster award of AIOS.
In addition, the Faculty of the AEC was invited to deliver lectures, courses and talks across all specialties and was very well appreciated.
