Bharat Vikas Parishad to organize Chandigarh State Dodgeball Championship on October 17& 18

Chandigarh 09th October:- Bharat Vikas Parishad, Chandigarh (West I Branch ) has decided to organize the Chandigarh State Dodgeball Championship of Boys & Girls for 2nd Tender Heart Dodgeball Trophy under the aegis of Dodgeball Association of Chandigarh (Regd.)  at Tender Heart School, Sector 33-B, Chandigarh for two days on 17th to 18th October,2017. All the players have to report for matches at 8.45am in the school premises on 17.10.2017.  
In the Senior Group there is no age bar. Anyone can participate in this group but he must be resident, working or studying in Chandigarh. The player who is born on or after 01.01.2001 is eligible for Junior Group to participate in this championship. Without Identity Card no one can participate in any match.
The players entry form duly verified by respective Principal showing father’s name, date of birth, class & section, admission no., address, phone no., signature etc. may be forwarded to Vikrant Suri, The Principal,  Tender Heart School, Sector 33-B, Chandigarh on or before 16.10.2017 up to 11am. After the last date of entry no one will be entertained.

Chitkara University Himachal Pradesh organizes "Algorithm 2017 "

Rocking it in a style has become a way with the University. Making progress by leaps and bounds Chitkara University, Himachal Pradesh takes exploration to an altogether new level. To carry forward a wonderful legacy of overall development established ever since its inception, Chitkara University –Himachal Pradesh came up with “ALGORYTHM 2017- “A tale of vivid affairs”, the annual cultural fest of the university on 7th October. The fiesta was inaugurated by honorable Pro-chancellor, Dr. Madhu Chitkara where she blessed the young participants.
Algorythm 2017 is a celebration of dynamic youth, which endeavors to create a platform for students to showcase their talent. It is an excellent opportunity for the new generations to exchange their talent through various cultural activities as well as fun events. It renders to every aspect of cultural events such as dance, music, drama, singing, gaming, entertainment etc. This fiesta is all about bringing together the creativity, intellect and vibrant talent of the youth. Algorythm provides an opportunity to the in-house talent as well as students from other institutions as per their areas of interest. 4000 students from more than 40 universities and colleges participated in the events like vogue, stomp the yard, fantastic toe, euphonious fusion, halla bol, matinee, LAN Gaming and fun events like paintball, zorbing etc.
·         Students dazzled the stage with scintillating performances, the fashionista's for the year 2017 was the team from Institute of Home Economics, Delhi  and second in the category was CGC Landran.
·         The team from Post Graduate Government College, Sector 11 set the stage on fire with their popping and locking, the team from Thapar University stood second in the event Stomp the yard.
·         Manpreet Singh rocked the stage with his singing.
·         In the Abhivyakti zone, the team from Post Graduate Government College, Sector 11 won the event 'Halla bol' and PEC was second in the category. DAV team was the best in script writing and grouping the emotions took the winning trophy and SGGS, Chandigarh were second in the category.
·         In the single/duet category of dance Rahul Parmar from Baddi University rocked the stage with his moves and was declared as the winner.
·         The GameWarp zone saw some thrilling players fighting the battle on big screens. In gaming category, FIFA'17 champion was Harsimran from Khalsa College , Shekhar Bhardwaj won the Need for Speed Game match and Counter Strike Go was won by Chitkara University,Punjab.
·         Shivam Sisodia and Somya Sharma from PEC and Chandigarh University respectively were declared as Mr. and Ms. Algorythm 2017.
The best performers were accolade with heavy stash of goodies and cash prizes worth Rs. 5 Lakhs by the Honorable Vice Chancellor Brig.(Dr.) R.S. Grewal at Algorythm 2017. Sharry Mann dazzled the evening with vibrant music adding exuberance and the students left the venue with beautiful memories to cherish throughout their university life. The event was a grand success under the mentorship of  Ms. Ankita Tuteja, Faculty convener of the Algorythm 2017.

‘Award of Honour’ to Genius World,Play School Zirakpur

From Head Hunting to Head Transplantation- 12th Prof. Gulati Oration Delivered by Prof. S.K. Pandya

Chandigarh 09th October:- The 12th Prof. Gulati oration was organized on 9th October, 2017 by the Institute in memory of Prof. Desraj Gulati who founded both the Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery in PGIMER in 1962.  The oration was delivered by Prof. S.K. Pandya from Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai; one of the senior most and most respected neurosurgeons of the country.
Prof. Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER welcomed Prof. Pandya to this annual Institute function.  Prof. Pandya spoke on “From Head hunting to Head Transplantation”.  He gave an interesting insight into the history of head hunting and human sacrifice in different parts of the world in the past centuries and elaborated upon the physiology of the severed head. He also spoke about mythological aspects of head transplantation and the current and modern status of human cephalic transplantation in the world.
He was presented a memento and scroll by the departments of Neurosurgery and Neurology.  The event was attended by ex-professors, former Directors of the institute, emeritus professors, PGIMER faculty and residents.  Family members of the late Prof. Gulati - Mrs. Monica Gulati and Ravi Bhatia also attended the oration.

Folk Music Alone Has Power to Wean Youth Away from Vulgarity: Pammi Bai

Chandigarh 09th October:- The renowned Punjabi folk singer Paramjit Singh Sidhu 'Pammi Bai' is set to cause sensation once again with the release of his single track 'Heer Saleti' worldwide on 10th October at 10 AM. The teaser as well as music of the track was released here today at the Chandigarh Press Club. The teaser was released by Pammi Bai himself along with Surjit Singh Abudhabi (connected with World Punjabi Organisation), State Information Commissioner, Punjab, Nidhrak Singh Brar, Makhan Singh USA, Prof. Rajpal Singh and film actor Jashanjeet Gosha.
Interacting with the media-persons on the occasion, Pammi Bai said that this is the 4th track being released this year by the music house 'Live Folk Studio'. He also contributed 2 songs out of the earlier released 3 songs. These were 'Boliyan' and 'Kisani'. The new song 'Heer Saleti' has been brought out with the purpose to promote traditionally rich Punjabi folk music, folk stories and poetry.
In this regard, the founder President of World Punjabi Organisation Vikramjeet Singh Sahni, Raju Chadha and Surjit Singh Abudhabi have rendered valuable assistance. The track has been set to music by Mani Saundh and co-singer is Kudrat Singh. The video has been directed by Parveen Kumar with Sumaira Sandhu showcasing her acting skills. It is worth mentioning that Sumaira Sandhu has proved her mettle in 2 movies in South India also.
Pammi Bai said that he has devoted 30 years of his singing career to the service of Punjabi culture, language and folk music. He further said that the present track 'Heer Saleti' has given him immense satisfaction as it has provided him a chance to present folk stories and poetry, which are an inseparable part of the Punjabi literature. He also said that folk music alone is the best way to wean youth away from vulgarity. He also thanked World Punjabi Organization.
On the occasion, Surjit Singh Abudhabi said that his organization has chalked out a project to record traditional and folk stories in modern music. Lauding Pammi Bai, he said that the singer has always presented a picture of rich cultural heritage of Punjab in his songs. He also termed the new song as a beautiful fusion of folk stories and modern music.
Throwing light on the life history of Pammi Bai on the occasion, Prof. Rajpal Singh said that Pammi Bai was born in the house of freedom fighter Partap Singh Baaghi in village Jakhepal, District Sangrur and started his career from bhangra. Crediting Pammi Bai with the popularizing of bhangra worldwide, Prof. Rajpal said that the singer's contribution in the field of folk dances is also immense. He also appreciated the fact that Pammi Bai has never compromise with his ideals for the sake of money and fame and has always worked tirelessly for propagating Punjabi culture, language and folk music.
