PGI Professor Awarded with Dr. Sarinder Man Singh Endowment Award

Chandigarh 18th October:- Dr. S K Singh, Professor of Urology at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh was awarded Dr. Sarinder Man Singh Endowment Award and DUSCON Gold Medal for his outstanding organizational contribution to Urological Society of India and to North Zone Chapter during 26th Annual Meeting of the Society held on October 13-15, 2016 in Agra.  Last year, the award was received by Prof. S K Sharma, Ex-Director, PGI.  He is happy to follow the foot step of his respected teacher.  Dr. Singh is the first Indian who is the member of core and executive committee of two international society namely International Consultation on Urologic Diseases (ICUD) and of World Urological Oncology Federation (WUOF).  Earlier, he was a member of governing body of Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi for three years, member of Senate, Panjab University of eight years.  Prof. Singh, Prof. Chopra & Prof. Chugh were nominated by the Governor of Punjab as person of academic eminence and served Baba Farid University of Health Sciences as a Senate member.  
Dr. S K Singh said that this is all due to the global reputation of the Institute and the faculty members command outside.  The PGI is a great Institute and provides various opportunities to people working here for serving the public.  He was earlier honored with “Punjab Rattan” Award for his extraordinary services to the public of the society. 
Dr. S K Singh has made significant contribution to basic research as applied to urology.  His area of interest has been Urological cancers and urinary stone diseases.  His works have been recognized globally and has been cited extensively. 
He has been invited to moderate and chair scientific session on Stone and another scientific session on Prostate Cancer during 36th World Congress of Urology (SIU) 2016 at Buenos Aires, Argentina to be held from October 20-23, 2016.   This is a great honor to an Indian scientist.
