5th Chandigarh Literature Festival 2016 from November 10

Chandigarh 13th October:- The 5th Chandigarh Literature Festival 2016(CLF 2016) is all set to take place from 10th to 13th November, 2016 at Chandigarh Club, Sec 1, Chandigarh. The CLF 2016 is being organised by Adab Foundation, that works to bring Authors, Poets, Actors, Scriptwriters & Thespians together on a single platform through CLF, to initiate a meaningful exchange of ideas. Details of the upcoming literary extravaganza were shared by Mitul Dikshit, Chairman, Adab Foundation and the young & acclaimed Author Annie Zaidi, who is CLF 2016’s Festival Director too. 
Mitul Dikshit said that each year, we invite India's leading literary critics to nominate a book of their choice. During the festival this year, the critic-author duos will bunker down on stage and unpack the nominated books one by one. He added that there will be no panel discussions, etc. just session upon session focused on book upon book.” Adds Dikshit, “Besides the books, each year we also invite 4 of the leading film critics of the country to nominate a film each. This year, the films nominated are ‘Pink’, ‘Piku’, ‘Raman and Raghav’ & ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’.
Festival Director Annie Zaidi said that the festival will kick off with awarding of a Lifetime Achievement Award to Kiran Nagarkar a well known Author on November 10. It will not just be Books & Films at CLF 16. A scintillating musical performance by Piyush Mishra & band – Piyush is a well known actor, music director & singer is scheduled. Raj Shekhar & band will also be performing. Prof Tejwant Gill will be paying a tribute to Gurdial Singh on Nov 11. A Tribute to ‘Neelabh Ashk’ by Rahul Soni & Apoorvanand is also on the anvil.
Poetry is also being given its due. There is a session of Poet Manmohan who will be in conversation with critic Desraj Kali Three European poets Adrian Grima (Maltese), Yolanda Castaño (Spanish / Galician), Brane Mozetič (Slovenian) and 3 Indian poets Surjit Patar (Punjabi), Monika Kumar (Hindi) and Sampurna Chattarji (English) will be seen in a multilingual poetry performance- ‘Polyphony’, the result of reading and translating each other at a Literature Across Frontiers workshop. 
The books that will be discussed analytically are Author Janice Pariat’s ‘Sea Horse’ the critic who will be in discussion with the author is Rahul Soni. Meenal Baghel will be seen in conversation with Author Vibhuti Narayan Rai about his book ‘Hashimpura’. K R Meera author of ‘The Gospel of Yudas’ will be talking to Critic Elizabeth Kuruvilla. Ashok Vajpayee’s book ‘Name for every leaf’ will be dissected in a conversation of the author with critic Madan Soni. Critic Appoorvanand will talk to author Krishna Kumar about his book ‘Churi Bazaar mein Ladki’. Writer Shahid Amin’s book ‘Conquest & Community’ will be discussed with the author by Critic Alok Rai. Critic Veena Venugopal will be seen in discussion with author Mahesh Rao on his book ‘One point two Billion.’ Jai Arjun Singh will be in conversation with Author Akshaye Mukul on his book ‘Gita Press & the Making of Hindu’. Critic Manju Jaidka will be analyzing Author Lakshmi Kannan’s book ‘The Glass Bead Curtain’. Translator of the book ‘A life Misspent’ will be seen in conversation with critic Akshaya Kumar.
Very interesting sessions are planned in the Movie segment at CLF 2016. Meena Aiyer will talk to Director Anirudh Choudhary on his critically acclaimed film ‘Pink’. Nonika Singh will be in conversation with Shoojit Sarkar on his movie ‘Piku’. Director Anurag Kashyap will be engaged by critic Bhardwaj Rangan on his film ‘Raman Raghav’ and ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’ Director Sudhir Mishra will be seen in discussion with film critic Mayank Shekhar.
