8 कर्मचारियों को जबरदस्ती रिटायर करने के विरोध में बिजली कर्मचारियों ने की रोष रैलियां

Chandigarh 13^th March, 2019:- बिजली विभाग के एस ई  द्वारा अनुमान के आधार पर की गई जाँच रिर्पोट की आड़ लेकर 8 कर्मचारियों को जबरदस्ती नौकरी से रिटायर करने  तथा जुर्माना डालने के विरोध में तथा मौजुदा एस ई द्वारा किये गये घपलों की जाँच करवाने  तथा शीघ्र नौकरी से बरखास्त करने की मांग को लेकर बिजली कर्मचारियों ने आज बिजली दफ्तर सैक्टर 35 तथा सैक्टर 20 में रोष रैलियां की गई। रैलियों को संबोधित करते हुए वक्ताओं ने एक तरफा जाँच व अनुमान के आधार पर किसी एक अन्दर या बाहर वाले की गलती की सजा सभी कर्मचारिों को देने पर बिजली विभाग के एस ई एम पी सिंह की तीखी निन्दा की है तथा आरोप लगाया कि एस ई ने साफ सुथरी जांच कराने की बजाये मनमाने तरीके से कर्मचारियों को जबरदस्ती रिटायर कर उनके बसे बसाये परिवारों को तबाह किया है। 

वक्ताओं ने चीफ इन्जीनियर को अपील  की है कि एस ई द्वारा पिछले 8 सालों में किये घपलों व विभाग को हुए नुक्सान की सीबीआई जाँच  की जाये तथा एस ई को तुरन्त बरखास्त किया जाए।  क्योंकि पिछले 8 साल में एस ई ने विभाग का करोड़ों का नुक्सान कराया है। सैक्टर 63  के इलैक्ट्रीफिकेशन के मामले में जाँच एस ई के खिलाफ रिर्पोट आने के बावजूद कार्यवाही नहीं की है। इसी तरह मंगत राम कैशियर द्वारा 1 करोड़ 85 लाख के गबनकी भी रिकन्सीलेशन की जिम्मेवारी वर्तमान एसई उस समय के एक्स ई एन एम.पी. सिह की बनती थी, जिसे न निभा पाने के कारण विभाग के सीधे तौर पर 1 करोड 85 लाख अभी तक रिकवर नहीं हुए। इसी तरह 50 हजार रिश्वत के मामले में केस चल रहा है।

यह भी गौरतलब है कि 66 केवी व अन्य अभी तक अध्ूरे प्राजैक्टों के करोड़ो रूपये एनटीपीसी को दिये जाने की भी जांच की मांग की है कयोंकि करोड़ो रूपये देने के बाद भी कई प्रोजैक्ट अध्ूरे पड़े हैं। सन् 2012 से अब तक डी एम सी कनैक्शनों को खत्म कर सी एस करने से विभाग को हर साल 40 से 50 करोड़ का नुक्सान हुआ है जो 6 सालों में 250 करोड़ से 300 करोड़ बनता है।  जिसके लिए  विभाग के उच्च अधिकारियों की मंजूरी नहीं ली गई लेकिन बिजली कर्मचारियों को मिल रहा 200 से 300 रूपये प्रति महिना बिजली कन्सैशन को अपने तौर पर ही बन्द कर कर्मचारियों की जेब पर छापा मारा गया।  इसकी भी जांच कर वसूली पर जोर दिया। 

यूनियन के महासचिव गोपाल दत्त जोशी, ध्यान सिंह, अमरीक सिंह, गुरमीत सिंह, मक्खन सिंह, रणजीत सिंह, राजपाल,  आदि पदाधिकारियों ने चण्डीगढ़ के सभी कर्मचारियों से इस ज्यादती के खिलाफ फैड़रेशन द्वारा  19 मार्च 2019 को सैक्टर 17 में किये जा रहे विशाल रोष धरने व मार्च में शामिल होने की अपील की है।

Chitkara University Team ‘Gully Gang’ Bags First Prize at SIH-2019

Chandigarh 12^th Mar, 2019:- Chetan Kaushik, Mahesh Jindal, Rohit Gupta, Hritik Wadhwa, Yashasvi, Madhur Gupta – Team “Gully Gang” students of Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Chitkara University, Punjab, won the First Prize of Rs. 50,000 in Smart India Hackathon-2019, recently concluded at Coimbatore. Their project titled “Trustee” was based on proposing a solution for storing school/university/board certificates in a decentralized way using Block chain Technology, and to give access to any organisation or any institution with the consent of an individual using multi-sign. The main motive of this project was to reduce the hassle of verifying the authenticity of any document or certificate by simplifying the process and reduce the time required to a matter of seconds. Congratulations to the winning team.

Smart India Hackathon, an initiative by MHRD Innovation Cell at the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, was a non-stop 36-hour software product development competition, where problem statements are modeled to technical students for innovative solutions. The initiative is perceived as a building block for ‘Start-up India’ campaign, crowd source solutions for improving quality of life, and providing an opportunity for the people to provide innovative solutions for problems faced by our country. Chitkara University had been selected as one of the 48 Nodal Centres for the grand finale, which saw the most innovative students from all over India competing for the final prize.

Sukh Jagraon’s Book “Talab Sach Di” Released

Chandigarh 12^th Mar, 2019:- The first book by writer Sukh Jagraon “Talab Sach Di”  has been released at Press Club, Chandigarh. This book was launched by famous Punjabi singer Rupinder Handa and actor Davvy Singh.

While addressing the gathering Rupinder Handa said that Sukh Jagroan is a person who always stood for truth and his book “Talab Sach Di” is purely talk about truthfulness. Rupinder Handa addressed that people who listen our songs should also read the books and must give the honour to the writers they deserve for their literature.

While talking to Media, Sukh Jagraon said that his book is concerned about the social issues like unemployment, drug addiction and rape etc. Readers will get the chance to read the poems, stories, songs etc. This book is based on his own experience and truth. Many of the stories and poems got viral on Social Media. He said that book is published by Soorjan De Waris publication. The book will be available online, amazon as well as all the bookstores.

Director PGIMER Inaugurates Multicity Real-Time Mobile Air Quality Campaign over North India

Chandigarh 12^th Mar, 2019:- Prof. Jagat Ram, Director, Post-graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) inaugurated the multicity summer air quality campaign jointly being conducted by Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh and Panjab University, Chandigarh in collaboration with Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune. The air quality in Haryana and Punjab will be monitored using state of the art continuous ‘Air Quality Laboratory on Wheels.’

Prof. Jagat Ram, appreciated Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, PGIMER, for taking the lead in ‘Air Quality and Heath’ research. He stressed that the Chandigarh and neighbouring states should be benefited from the presence of ‘Air Quality Lab on Wheels.’ Further, he added that such initiatives are needed to understand better the air pollution and its association with various diseases such as stroke, heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung cancer, and acute respiratory infections to plan risks reduction measures. 

Prof. Arvind Rajwanshi, Dean, PGIMER stressed that more such collaborative steps should be taken to address issues that affect public health. Prof Arun Aggarwal, Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, PGIMER, mentioned that air quality data generated using the mobile van could be used to create awareness about the air pollution and motivate them to curb their emissions.

Dr. Ravindra Khaiwal, Additional Professor of Environment Health, PGI, mentioned that multicity campaign would be useful to better understand the air quality in tier II cities and to support national clean air programme (NCAP). He added that NCAP is recently launched in January 2019 by Government of India to reduce air pollution by 20-30% in over 102 cities of India including Chandigarh by 2024. 

This air quality laboratory on wheels will conduct a week measurement in Chandigarh and is placed in Sector 25, Panjab University, Chandigarh. School Students, researchers and other interested citizen are welcome to visit and learn about air quality. 

Dr. Ravindra Khaiwal, Additional Professor of Environment Health, School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh and Dr. Suman Mor, Panjab University, Chandigarh together with IITM, Pune are jointly coordinating this air quality monitoring campaign. This monitoring will be conducted in eight cities of Haryana and Punjab including Chandigarhto understands the relation between air quality, meteorology, and Health.

World Kidney Day to be Celebrated at PGIMER

Chandigarh 12^th Mar, 2019:- The Department of Nephrology at PGIMER, Chandigarh is celebrating the World Kidney Day, a global event to raise awareness about kidney disease and its risk factors. It is celebrated on second Thursday of March every year. The theme for 2019 is ‘Kidney Health for Everyone Everywhere’, a theme which proposes to have universal health coverage of kidney diseases. 

850 million people worldwide are now estimated to have kidney diseases from various causes. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) causes at least 2.4 million deaths per year and is now the 6th fastest growing cause of death. The theme highlights the growing burden of kidney disease and kidney health disparity and inequity worldwide. Chronic Kidney Disease is likely to be the 5th leading cause of Years of Life Lost by 2040. To tackle this issue, the Nephrology community plans to undertake several advocacy activities. The Department liaisons with the relevant stakeholders or indirectly through informal and formal professional networks.  On the occasion of WKD, the Department is organising to screening camp and multimedia awareness activities.  

A screening camp for screening of individuals for presence of kidney disease and its risk factors will be held in the New OPD complex on Ground Floor in the Physiotherapy section. An integrated approach with presence of doctors, dietician and lab personnel for doing tests under same roof for convenience of patients will be used. Last year’s camp was also a great success with >700 patients/subjects coming voluntarily to attend it. This year the Department is also organising a voluntary blood donation camp.

Chandigarh 07^th Mar, 2019:- V P Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh while addressing CII North India Business Conference at Chandigarh , said that agriculture sector can prove to be a game changer for North Indian industry. He emphasized upon the need of collaboration between government, industry, academia and various technical institutions to conduct research that can be adapted at the grass root levels in order to achieve the envisioned national goals.

V P Singh Badnore also informed the participants about ‘Chandigarh Region Innovation and Knowledge Cluster’ which is a body formed with an objective of undertaking industrial research and how such research can be utilized for the improvement Agriculture as well as allied sectors like Food Processing, Logistics, Cold Chain and many more. He urged CII to contribute to this cluster by bringing about critical stakeholders on this futuristic platform.

Rakesh Bharti Mittal, President CII, in his address elaborated upon the various initiatives and activities carried by CII in the past year that especially focused on employment generation and skill enhancement for the youth of India.

He further highlighted that keeping in view the advent of an era of disruptive technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Internet of Things, Big Data, etc. we must ensure that the youth of our country is well trained to understand and use these innovations, which would adequately address issues around skills and employment. He stressed that industry should not only partner with academia for recruitment but should also involve educational institutions while they design their curriculum as to what kind of skillset can make the youth more employment ready.

Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, CII also addressed the gathering and highlighted that CII wants to partner with the State Governments in Northern Region for setting up incubation hubs for start-ups in collaboration between member firms and higher education institutions. CII also wants to open more model career centres in northern region with the help of member firms. He added that the CII Model Career Centre in Gurgaon created approximately 40,000 jobs last year and the same effort should be replicated in the length and breadth of the country.

Sachit Jain, Chairman CII Northern Region expressed his views by saying that we in CII fully share the vision of ‘New India’ and strive to work closely with concerned state governments and civil society to realize the goals set out under this Mission which is a progressive country in every aspect, be it healthcare, manufacturing, clean cities, energy efficiency and so on.

Sameer Gupta, Vice-President CII Northern Region proposed the formal vote of thanks and louded upon path breaking initiatives of the government such as Jan Dhan Yojana, Ujwala Yojana, Digital India, National Health Protection Scheme, MUDRA Bank, Startup and Standup Programme etc. and added that many of these programmes have started yielding positive results on the ground.

Health Conclave & Awards Event Held at PGI

Chandigarh 07^th Mar, 2019:- SPEAK India Health Conclave was organized by Society for Promotion of Ethical and Affordable Health Care (SPEAK), in collaboration with Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research at the auditorium of Advanced Pediatric Centre, on Sunday. The theme of the conclave was 'reducing spending on wasteful and unethical medical practices’.

First session was dedicated to ‘laying down of protocols by eminent and senior doctors’. Dr SK Sharma, ex-director, & HOD Urology PGI stated that  most cases of Prostate  enlargement, a common condition in elderly males can be treated with medicines and lasers and only small percentage require surgery, Dr TS Mahant, of Fortis also endorsed the same view that more than 90% cases of chronic heart disease do not require stenting or surgery,

Padma Shri Dr Harsh Kumar, from New Delhi said that the same thing about glaucoma i.e surgery should be the last resort.

Dr Neeraj Gupta said one third cases of joint replacement surgery is in appropriate.

Dr TS Thakur of  PGI said if healthy life style is followed, especially control of obesity most of the deaths due to advanced non-communicable diseases can be saved.

Dr Vinay Sakhuja, emphasized the role of teaching ethics in MBBS as a big step forward in providing affordable patient care.

Dr SS Baijal, of  Medanta talked of avoidable interventions in radiology  and Dr SK Jindal cautioned about aggressive care in end of life situations.

In the second session Dr R Kumar, President SPEAK advised to focus on wellness. He said that this will obviate the need to set up more AIIMS or PGIs thus saving lot of money of the nation. Dr R Kumar added that the Society also honoured eminent and ethical doctors/hospitals so as to send a message across that the country can usher in ‘healthy India’ only, if we make medical care ethical.

Awards of Excellence were conferred by the Chief Guest, Justice Ajay Kumar Mittal of Punjab and Haryana High Court on Dr Harsh Kumar, Dr Vinay Sakhuja, Dr TD Singh, Dr SS Baijal and Dr TS Mahant. Institution awards were given to Prof Kanchan Bhardwaj Patiala, Dr Neeraj Gupta GMSH-16, Dr Gurinderjit Singh and others, Mohandai Oswai hospital Ludhiana. Prof I. S Jain Memorial Gold Medal went to Prof Amod Gupta, and the Silver medal went to Dr Simar Rajan Singh, for being the best student from Advanced Eye Centre, PGI.

The chief guest admired the efforts of SPEAK India and advised not to waste national resources, when there is no hope of recovery.

The new incumbents were elected during the first meeting of the newly elected Regional Council members held in Chandigarh, today.  Sameer Gupta will head the CII Northern Region which comprises Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan and Union Territory Chandigarh.

Elaborating on the priorities for the 2019-20, Sameer Gupta said that our initiatives for the year would primarily focus on enhancing industry competitiveness, fostering ground for favorable industry policies, skill development and inclusivity, adoption of contemporary technology and innovations and working towards provisioning opportunities for industrial growth & development.
