13th September:- Delegates
& Scholars gathered at 'Punjabi Bhasha Vikas Conference' organised by
Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle here at Mohali urged Government to implement
Punjabi Language Act 1967 in letter & spirit. Among other resolutions past
unanimously by an impressive gathering in the auditorium of Shivalik Public
School, Mohali, was constitution of a High Power State Language Tribunal.
Conference appealed Punjabi people to use Punjabi as mode to communication at
their home and offices.
Presiding over the conference Dr.
Daljit Singh Education Minister said that Government of Punjab will
sincerely consider the demands put forth in today's conference. He promised to
take up the issues posing challenges for Punjabi language with Govt. at highest
level as representative of Punjabi diaspora.
In his key note address Secretary
General, Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle S. Jatinderpal Singh, gave an account
of historical facts and circumstances leading to demand and formation of
Punjabi Suba. Former District Attorney Mitter Sen Meet described the short
coming of Punjabi Language Act 1967. Satnam Singh Manak working editor of
leading
Punjabi vernacular Ajit, Jalandhar
stressed upon the need to value Punjabi literature and scholars. Dr. Inderjit
Singh Gogoani Head History Deptt. Khalsa College, Sri Amristar
dwelled upon the future of Punjabi language. His thoughts were supplemented by
Karamjit Singh, Former Sub Editor, Punjabi Tribune. Dr. Chinderpal fromPunjabi University, Patiala gave
presentation on computerization of Punjabi Language. Earlier S. Pirthi Singh,
cheif Secretary welcomed the guests & delegates. S.Partap Singh
Chairman,GGSSC shared with audience the purpose of organizing Punjabi
Conference. S.Paramjit Singh, President Gurdwara Sacha Dhan Sahib presented the
vote of thanks.
