PGI Physiotherapists Association to Organize Physiotherapy Awareness Programme for Pregnant Women

Chandigarh 07th September:- A Physiotherapy Awareness Programme on Antenatal and Postnatal Care is to be organized by PGI Physiotherapists Association on the occasion of World Physiotherapy Day on 8th September 2016. The speakers for this Awareness program are Prof. Dr. Vanita Suri-HOD, Obs. & Gynaecology, and Prof. Amarjit Singh- Dept. Of Public Health, Dr. Karobi Das-lecturer Psychology, Dr. Ramandeep- Research Officer, Dept. Of Gynaecology, Dr. Pradip Sarkar (PT) - Incharge Physiotherapy, Dr. Upendra Goswami (PT) Senior Physiotherapist , Dr. Monica Chhabra (PT)- Senior physiotherapist, PGI, Chandigarh. Prof. Dr. M.S. Dhillon, HOD PRM (Physiotherapy) will inaugurate the program. Prof.  Paramvir Singh, HOD, Sports Sciences, Punjabi University, Patiala will be the Chief Guest for this Awareness Program.
This awareness program includes public Education forum, student education forum and poster presentation. Physiotherapists assess, treat, educate pregnant women and suggest effective, safe exercises that have been shown to decrease back pain, pelvic pain and urinary incontinence throughout their pregnancy and post-partum. The goal of such a program is to offer women improved prenatal fitness that would lead to a healthier and easier pregnancy and delivery.  A self education and awareness program offers an integrated approach to women who are experiencing a high risk pregnancy. Pregnant women and Post-Natal Mothers are cordially invited to this self education program on 8th September at Physiotherapy Block, level 1, New OPD, PGI.
