PGIMER Anaesthesia Faculty Gets Award at World Congress of Anesthesiologists

Chandigarh 10th September:- In a recently held World Congress of Anesthesiologists (WCA 2016), held at Hong Kong, two faculty members of the department of Anesthesia and Intensive Care, PGI, Chandigarh, Professor Suman Arora and Dr. Nidhi Bhatia, Associate Professor, received best paper awards. WCA is a premium event held once every four years in the field of anesthesia. It is represented by over 6000 doctors from over 150 countries around the world. It showcases the latest research and findings in anesthesia, pain medicine and intensive care as well as delivers the benchmark for best practice.  
Professor Suman Arora was awarded for her research in the category of regional anesthesia for her paper titled ‘Efficacy of thoracic paravertebral block versus serratus intercostal plane block for postoperative analgesia in breast cancer surgery’. This paper was co-authored by Drs. Ronithung Ovung, Neerja Bharti, Sandhya Yaddanapudi and Gurpreet Singh.
Dr. Nidhi Bhatia received the award for her research paper in field of obstetric anesthesia.  It was the paper on ‘Effect of maternal hyperuricemia on post-spinal hypotension and uterine tone in normotensive parturients undergoing non-elective cesarean delivery’and was coauthored by Drs.Shanmugam,  Kajal Jain, Pooja Sikka and Indu Verma.
