Sukhbir Singh Badal Distributes Appointment Letters to 4560 Master Cadre & 2005 ETT Teachers

Chandigarh 28^th October:– Giving the nation builder teaching community a Diwali bonanza, the Punjab Deputy Chief Minister, Sukhbir Singh Badal today distributed appointment letters to 4560 Teachers of master cadre and 2005 teachers belonging to ETT cadre.

In a function organized here by the Education Department, Punjab, the Deputy Chief Minister congratulated and profusely appreciated the go-getter efforts of the Education Minister, Punjab, Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema and the entire department for this stupendous effort. He said that it is a very big and prestigious responsibility to be a teacher who shoulders the responsibility to mould the future of the nation. That explains why, said the Deputy Chief Minister, the emphasis of the SAD-BJP government is to invest more and more into the educational sector.

Disclosing more, he said that during the course of previous 9 years the state government has provided 2.50 lakh jobs in various departments in a transparent and fair manner. Divulging more, he said that during the next month nearly 30000 more contractual employees would be absorbed in the various departments as it is the prime endeavor of the state government to fill vacancies in all departments as soon as possible in order to make process of governance more faster.

Making a strong pitch for development, Sukhbir Badal said that the SAD-BJP government has taken path breaking innovative measures in various sectors which includes surplus and cheapest power, excellent road infrastructure, sewerage and clean drinking water in 100 cities with 60 more to follow, preservation of culture in the form of construction of memorials belonging to all religions and beautification of all religious places. He also said that whatever the government has said it has accomplished. He also announced that in the next 5 years all the 12000 villages of the state would be equipped with sewerage facilities at a cost of Rs. 35000 crore.

Earlier, welcoming the Deputy Chief Minister on the occasion, Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said praised the vision of the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and the Deputy Chief Minister which enabled the education department to fulfill it's target of 22000 recruitments.

Congratulating all the teachers, the minister said that during the previous 9 years the education department has recruited 84000 teachers. He also divulged that the teachers have been selected after a rigorous process encompassing Teachers Eligibility Test and Subject and Aptitude Test.

Making another significant announcement, Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that the stations to the newly appointed teachers would be allotted as per merit on the 3rd and 4th November.

PGI Patients Celebrates Diwali with Red Cross

Chandigarh 28^th October:–As part of Diwali celebrations Indian Red Cross Society, Punjab State Branch distributed blankets to the poor patients and fruits to the indoor patients of P.G.I.  The social workers distributed 500 packets of fruits to the admitted patients of Gastroenterology, Advanced Urology Centre, Male Surgical Ward, Female Surgical Ward, Gynae Ward, Maternity Ward and ICUs. 

Prof. S.C.Verma, Director PGI and the Chief Guest inaugurated the fruit distribution function organized by Punjab Red Cross on the occasion of Diwali.  He lauded the efforts of the lady social workers by way of distributing medicines and other relief amenities to the poor & needy patients of PGI.   

C.S.Talwar, IAS (Retd), Secretary of State Red Cross encouraged the social workers who are doing selfless service by devoting time & money for the welfare of the patients. Harbans Kaur Oberoi, Honorary Secretary of Punjab State Red Cross (Hospital Welfare Section) and her dedicated team of ladies including Ms Raji wished the patients Happy Diwali and speedy recovery. Dr Vipin Koushal acting Medical Superintendent, Dr R.K.Sharma, Head Dept of Plastic Surgery and other PGI staff were also present on the occasion.

RLA Will Remain Close on October 29

The department has put doctors on special emergency duty round the clock at the Advanced Eye Centre, PGI, Chandigarh from the morning of 29^th October (8 AM)  till the morning of 31st October, 2016 to attend to patients on arrival.

Lions Club Chandigarh Prosperity & Sai Tara Ummat Foundation Conduct Green Diwali Campaign

Chandigarh 27^th October:-- Lions Club Chandigarh Prosperity and Sai Tara Ummat Foundation in association with Forest and Wild life Department Chandigarh organized a Green Diwali Campaign at Sector -17 Plaza Chandigarh which was graced by the esteemed presence of Home Secretary Chandigarh Administration Anurag Aggarwal, as Chief guest, Mayor of Chandigarh Arun Sood as Guest of honour and Chief Conservator, Forest & Wild life Deptt., Santosh Kumar IFS  as guest of honour. Dr. Deepti Shastri welcomed the Chief guest with bouquet Plants were provided by the Forest and Wild life Deptt. Approximately 1000 Saplings were distributed among people by the distinguished guests and members of the Lions Club and Sai Tara NGO as a part of this late evening campaign.  A play was also organized to convey the message of Green Diwali to save the environment. Senior  members of the Lion club motivated the general public by showing placards, Banners, and by counseling the people to  celebrate Green Diwali and say no to crackers to save the earth from green house gases.

On this occasion Lion Deshraj Thakral, President Lions Club Chandigarh Prosperity said that this small effort can bring big changes and we can give green future to our younger generation. He appealed the people to adopt “Each One Plant One” approach on this holy festival. He stated that safe environment is must for the healthy life for all of us and crackers add many dangerous elements in the air. Firing crackers are just making our life bitter intentionally. He also stated that Diwali must be celebrated by keeping our traditional ethics and moral values in mind. He stated that Each one should gift plants to others on this Diwali.

Dr. Deepti Shastri, Chairperson, Sai Tara Ummat Foundation (NGO) praised the idea of organizing this much needed campaign to aware the people of the tricity towards the environment. She further added that it’s a great move and I strongly feel such awareness will make people more responsible and realize how important this earth is to us. More than talking we should work towards it. If we fail to act now then it might be too late when we really think to do something. She insisted that everyone should contribute their best towards saving the earth, after all this is our home and it should remain a safe place to live for our future generation also.

Eurokids Tiny-Tots Spreads Message of 'Green Diwali'

Chandigarh 27^th October:-- Spreading message to celebrate ‘Green Diwali’, the tiny-tots  and their parents gathered at Eurokids preschool, Sector 37-D to celebrate Diwali with great zest and zeal today. The celebrations were organized to highlight the need for a ‘cracker-free diwali’ and also give tiny-tots an opportunity to exhibit their creative talent.

The host of creative activities was organized to spread awareness about celebrating a ‘green diwali’. Kids displayed creativity designed placards saying “no to crackers” and “yes to green Diwali”. Their parents also joined them in this effort by pledging to have a smoke-free Diwali.

Meanwhile in tune with Eurokids tradition to foster strong family ties, a ‘Kiddie Diwali Fete’ was the main event during program where mothers and children dressed-up traditionally to give festivity to the event. 

Mothers showed their talent in making of diya, candle, sweets and rangoli. The tiny tots took part in different activities with their educators and parents, To give a feel of how diyas are made , a potter’s wheel was installed in the campus. A potter showed how lifeless clay took shape into a diya which was a mesmerizing experience for the little ones.

स्वरोजगार जीवन का आधार’ पुस्तक के 2016-17 संस्करण का विमोचन

Chandigarh 27^th October:-- हरियाणा के राज्यपाल के सचिव डा. अमित कुमार अग्रवाल ने आज अपने कार्यालय में ‘स्वरोजगार जीवन का आधार’ पुस्तक के 2016-17 संस्करण का विमोचन किया। लेखक हरीश बंसल द्वारा यह पुस्तक स्वरोजगार के महत्व पर विस्तार से प्रकाश डालती है।

इस अवसर पर डा. अग्रवाल ने लेखक को बधाई देते हुए कहा कि यह पुस्तक बेरोजगारी के इस युग में युवाओं के लिए पथ-प्रदर्शक का काम करेगी। उन्होंने कहा कि युवाओं को नौकरियों के पीछे भागने की अपेक्षा अपने उद्यम स्थापित कर दूसरों को भी रोजगार देने वाले बनना चाहिए। पुस्तक के लेखक हरीश बंसल ने बताया कि इस पुस्तक में युवाओं को स्वरोजगार स्थापित करने के लिए आवश्यक संसाधन जुटाने के तरीके बताए गए हैं। उन्होंने बताया कि अनेक ऐसे व्यवसाय हैं जिनमें युवा दो-चार हजार रूपये की मामूली लागत पर भी अच्छा काम कर सकते हैं। इस पुस्तक में ऐसे व्यवसायों की जानकारी भी दी गई है। उन्होंने बताया कि उन्होंने 2005 में स्वरोजगार योजना नामक संस्करण तैयार किया था जिसे गुड़गांव जिला के सब पुस्तकालयों में अनुमोदित किया गया।

Chandigarh 27^th October:-- In view of coming festival season the Food Safety & Standards Department of Chandigarh Administration, Chandigarh appeal to all the resident and consumers to remain cautious and vigilant while purchasing sweet meats, bakery products, beverages, dry fruits etc from market. They should ensure that the food items they purchase are to be purchased from the license shops which observe complete hygiene and use quality products, so that there would be no harm to their health. In case any of the consumers observe/ see anything abnormal, he may ensure the quality report.

The matter to the department of Food Safety & Standards, Govt. Multi Specialty Hospital, Sector 16, Chandigarh or at emergency phone No. 102. Similarly the Food Business Operators, the manufacturers and distributors dealing in the aforesaid food items are also instructed to observe the complete hygiene while preparing and dealing in these food articles and to act as per the provisions of Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006 in letter and spirit to avoid any untoward incident. Prompt and appropriate action under the law would be initiated by the enforcement officers i.e. Food Safety Officers of this office as and when required.

Ryan International School Organizes 4th International Festival of Performing Arts

Chandigarh 27^th October:-- The 4^th International Festival of Performing Arts hosted by Ryan International School, Chandigarh concluded with the presentation of musical performance by more than 1600 students of the school. The aim of this two day festival was to create a bond between various cultures across the globe. This Mega Event had the children performing the Finnish, Latvian; Egyptian & Zimbabwe dance forms that mesmerized the audience. The highlight of the program was presentation of Ballet- ‘Brighter Tomorrow’ based on Nirbhaya Case. This Ballet hit the emotional cord of the audience. It showcased beautiful expressions of pain, anger, desperation & fright. It depicted the entire journey of the life of women. The Ballet ended on the positive note of the Women Empowerment.
Performance on the theme ‘Peace’ by the Latvian choreographer highlighted its importance of peace in today’s hectic life. Drums of India took the audience in the world of sound, symphony and synchronization. Vibrant colors of India, the Finnish dance created the National Symbols using huge props that left all the guests spell bound. The Egyptian Dance celebrated the freedom & empowerment to women. Besides, the prayer dance took them into the spiritual world and “Vande Matarm Dance” evoked the feeling of patriotism and when the huge tri color covered the stage the packed house applauded the performers.

CRB School Celebrates Diwali Festival with Great Pomp:Appeals Students to Celebrate Diwali as a Green Diwali

The students made all the big efforts to make grand Rangolis decorated with diyas and all accessories for Rangoli Competition. The school students also decorated candles and diyas for a lightened Diwali. Few of them also made beautiful greeting cards for their near and dear ones. Even the children of Kindergarten were not left aback. They came in their traditional party outfits and had all the fun in Diwali Celebrations. They also participated in Diya and Candle decorations.

CRISIL Assigns‘A+/SAtable’ Rating for Manappuram Home Finance Pvt. Ltd.

Chandigarh 26^th October:- Leading credit rating agency CRISIL has assigned its “A+/stable” credit rating to the long term bank loan facility of Manappuram Home Finance Private Ltd (MHF). The rating reflects managerial and financial support received from the parent Manappuram Finance Ltd. and adequate capitalisation. 

According to CRISIL, Manappuram Home Finance is adequately capitalised for the expected scale of business following infusion of capital of Rs.55 crore in fiscal 2016, taking its total paid up capital to Rs.100 crore. Additional infusions are expected to support capital adequacy and keep the gearing at around 5 times over the medium term. These rating strengths are partially offset by a small scale of operations with a limited track record, a modest earnings profile, and exposure to inherent risks relating to the affordable housing finance segment.

The expectation of support from the parent is driven by the strategic importance of the company to the Manappuram group in diversification of its financial product suite. The business is scalable and is expected to grow materially over the medium term. Manappuram Finance Ltd. holds 100% of the equity in Manappuram Home Finance. The parent has infused growth capital and will infuse additional capital as and when required. Furthermore, its Managing Director, V. P. Nandakumar, along with another director, is represented on the board of the company. CRISIL believes Manappuram Home Finance will continue to receive strong financial and managerial support from its parent, while maintaining adequate capitalisation, over the medium term. 

, Chief Vigilance Officer PNB Make Special Visit to PNB Regional Staff College Panchkula

Chandigarh 26^th October:- Satish Nagpal, Chief Vigilance Officer, Punjab National Bank made special visit to PNB Regional Staff College, Sector 6 Panchkula to address a gathering of Senior Officers and Management Trainees of the Bank hailing from Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Chandigarh Regions.

During his address, he laid emphasis on preventive vigilance. In his view bankers take financial decisions and even if one of the decisions goes wrong, there can be loss of huge amount. As such, the bank officers must take such decisions prudently. However, he assured that bonafide actions of the employees are to be protected and such employees should not suffer any harm whereas malafide actions should not go unpunished and are unpardonable. As regards frauds of high value, he informed that such cases are monitored at the highest level of the government and this lays a responsibility at all levels to be vigilant for prevention of such frauds.

Expressing banks commitment to the vigilance function bank is observing “the Vigilance Awareness Week from 31^st October 2016 to 5^th November 2016” primarily with a motive to sensitize all the staff and public at large during the Vigilance Awareness Week, he informed that  in a first of its kind initiative, PNB plans to also involve general public at large through holding of Gram Sabhas Educational Institutions, Customer Meets, Panel discussions etc. in the spread of vigilance culture in our country. National Workshop on Air Quality & Health Commences at PGI

Chandigarh 26^th October:- A 4-day training programme on the ‘Air Quality and Health’ commenced today 26th October at School of Public Health, PGI. The training programme is organized by School of Public Health, PGI in collaboration with Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, New Delhi.

This programme is specially designed for faculty and scientists, environment and public health researchers, medical professional and residents to build their capacity in the area of environment health to improve the public health in the country.

Dr. Ravindra Khaiwal, organizing secretary of the event highlighted that recently World Health Organization (WHO) estimated that around 92% of the population live in places where air pollution exceeds the air quality standards, which can contribute to lung cancer, heart disease, and strokes. Hence, he stressed that there is a need to reduce the exposure to harmful air pollutants especially in urban centers.

Dr Suman Mor, Coordinator, Centre for Public Health, Panjab University, Invited Speaker, mentioned that air pollution has grown across India alarmingly and globally over 7 million people premature deaths could be linked to air pollution. Hence, air pollution is becoming a major environmental risk to human health.

Dr. Ravindra Khaiwal, also mentioned that tomorrow with the support of Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune, a air quality campaign will be stared using a Mobile Air Quality Van, which continuously monitor the air pollutants. Prof. Arun Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University and Dr. Gufran Beig , Scientist-G, Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Ministry of Earth Sciences will inaugurate this first of its kind continuous air quality campaign using state of the art technology to monitor air pollutants.

Icchapyaari Meet Icchadhaari Naagin on the Sets of SAB Ki Diwali

Mika Joins MTV The Junkyard Project to Urge Youth to ‘Dunk That Junk’

Police Use Water Cannons on Punjab Youth Congress Protestors

Chandigarh 26^th October:- Workers of Punjab Youth Congress (PYC) headed by their president, Amarpreet Singh Lally, protested against the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) government which failed to deliver justice to Behbal Kalan firing victims who were staging peaceful protest against the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib last year. Youth Congress demanded the time bound CBI probe in the matter. Senior congress leader Harish Chaudhary also came to support the youth brigade of the party and pledged their solidarity for the cause. Police resorted to mild lathicharge and used water cannons on members of (PYC) leaving few injured.

Many of them including the president of PYC Amarpreet Singh Lally were detained by the Police while they were marching towards Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s house from Congress Youth Bhawan, Sector 15 in Chandigarh.

Amarpreet Singh Lally said that Badals who claimed to be sole guardians of Sikhism in Punjab should resign as they have failed to take action against the culprits who were responsible for the series of sacrilegious incidents last year which created a crisis for the state.

Condemning the insensitive attitude of father-son who are running the government in Punjab, Amarpreet Singh Lally said that the Badal government failed to nip the trouble in the bud following which a spate of incidents of sacrilege of the Guru Granth Sahib surfaced. The situation went bad to worse after two persons died in police firing in Behbal Kalan village in Faridkot district on October 14. The real culprits are out of reach even after one year. Nothing short of arrest of guilty cops would sooth the sentiments of the family and Sikh community.   

Series of desecration incidents of the holy book Guru Granth Sahib took place across Punjab which sparked protests and disrupted communal harmony in the state in October 2015 last year. 

Amarpreet Singh Lally said that the issue caused immense pain to Sikhs living in India and abroad. The law and order situation in Punjab deteriorated as the miscreants were having free hand and state government failed to control the situation. Resident of village Sarwan, Gurjit Singh and Behbal Khurd’s resident Krishan Bhawan had died in police firing that had been ordered to disperse people who were protesting over the sacrilege of Sikh’s holy book Guru Granth Sahib.

Chandigarh 25^th October:- Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Ravi Shankar Parsad said that the mission of Digital India is to empower common man in the country.

Unveiling the Incubation Facility of STPI Mohali at the JW Marriott, the Union Minister embarked hat digital India is for the poor and underprivileged in the society and directed STPI Mohali to provide special facilities to promote entrepreneurship amongst dalit youth.

On the request of the Union Minister for Food Processing Industry Harsimrat Kaur Badal, to make STPI Moali to innovate IT solutions for the farmers, Ravi Shankar Parsad endorsed the idea and assured that STPI Mohali would become the Centre for Innovation for the Farmers too, and should become a beacon of Digital India.

Listing out the growth in diverse areas of country’s economy on the digital front, the union minister commended STPI for helping the IT industry grow and create newer employment opportunities, reaching 3 lakh crores in software exports out of which Rs. 3 lakh crores is being generated from the Tier II cities.

Digital India, Startup India, Standup India are the programmes that are transforming our country and empowering the people having reached phenomenal growth  reaching 103 crore mobile phones, issuing 105 crores adhaar cards, 40 crores broadband connections expected to reach 50 crores by next year, and 27 crores  smart phones, he added.

STPI shall very soon be laying the foundation stone of its next centre in Amritsar to help the smaller cities become part of the digital India movement. He hoped that the country which had very few mobile phone manufacturing units has attracted fresh FDI and there are over 40 such manufacturing units in the country, and hoped that manufacturing facility for mobiles would come up in Punjab too.

Union Minister for Food Processing Industry  Harsimrat Kaur Badal, said that opening of this incubation facility for startups in Mohali is a historic event, and the infrastructure facilities to promote education, health, transportation, etc. in the State is changing the face of Punjab.

Punjab is an agrarian state, she said, and requires the innovative IT solutions to help the farmers cope up with the vagaries of Nature and reduce their dependence on weather.

Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Vijay Sampla, said that Punjab has largest number of scheduled castes and tribes who need to be empowered and STPI can contribute immensely.

Earlier in the day Union Minister Ravi Shankar Parsad along with Vijay Sampla, and Adaish Partap Singh Kairon, inaugurated a state-of-the-art incubation facility of Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), at Mohali and inspected the data centre and other facilities.

The largest incubation facility for the startups amongst the Tier-II cities, and the only with such a big data centre in the country, would ramp up the region’s march towards one of the most favored IT destination in the country.

Spread over nearly 1.40 lakh square feet of built-up space, the incubation facility would go a long way in encouraging new IT/ITES entrepreneurs and startups to make it a hub for entrepreneurship. This would provide a major boost to the IT companies in Punjab to enable them to host their software applications and data, securely and safely at a fraction of the cost, instead of their own dedicated data centre. The building also houses Network Operation Centre equipped with infrastructure to ensure networking services, firewalls, servers, routers, and 100% redundant bandwidth for the users in the building.

The incubation facility has a dedicated Tier-III standard world-class data centre of 160 rack capacity available to startups to use it for big data analytics and software as a service, informed Dr Omkar Rai, Director General of STPI, he informed.

Over 60,000 sqft area from third to the sixth floors provides warm shells and 100-seats Plug-and-Play modular office space for the startups to operationalize their businesses within hours.

The top floor houses common facilities including a 100-seats auditorium, cafeteria, board rooms and meeting halls.

The facility compliments the startup ecosystem that STPI had been encouraging in the region and intends to create robust and active partnership amongst academia, research institutions, industry, professional bodies, investors and financial institutions, to help the startups grow.

Dr Omkar Rai informed that the Incubation Facility is the only building in the region which is expected to get 5-star rating as the Green Building by GRIHA, and the Ministry of Environment has already recognized STPI Mohali with an award for “Exemplary Demonstration of Energy Management.

Rajneesh Agarwal, Director, STPI Mohali said that the incubation facility has many unique features and is perhaps the first smart-building with automated controls for temperature, lighting, power consumption monitoring, uninterrupted power supply for 24x7 operations, and precision air-conditioning.
