October:- A special drive
was conducted today at Manimajra and sector 41 Chandigarh. One team was led by
Assistant Director Malaria along with State Epidemiologist at sector 41 and
other team was led by Dr Gaurav Aggarwal, Anti Malaria Officer Chandigarh at
Manimajra .Under this drive house to house visits were made. 10 challans and 15
notices have been issued. It was observed that major source of breeding is in
house containers and coolers alongwith garbage dumps in these areas. Hygiene
has not been maintained at Manimajra for which awareness was again created
during house to house visit. Littering
of garbage by general public is posing a potential threat for growth of
mosquito.
In the presence
of prominent persons of the area, Yesterday fogging was done at Sector at
Punjab University, Bhaskar Colony sector 25 and Sector 61 Chandigarh and today
will be done at Sector 18 C and D, Bapu Dham Colony, 22, 35 A&D , Vidhan
Sabha, Ashadeep School sector 31, and 5 schools of Chandigarh by vehicle
mounted and hand held fogging machines.
Today 18 cases of Dengue has been reported from
various health institutions which includes 8 new cases and 10 confirmed amongst
probable cases(till the release of press note)which brings the total number of
Dengue cases to 507 in the city.4 fresh
cases of Chickungunya have been reported by GMCH 32 and PGI. The details of 75
cases of chickungunya detected in Chandigarh is; 23 imported, 22 wrong address
and 30 from Chandigarh.

To further
strengthen the preventive activities, daily fumigation is being carried out
alongwith strengthening of field activities which includes mass awareness,
checking of breeding sources like coolers, containers, tyres and other sources.
