GMADA Will Provide Rs. 50 Crore Every Year to MC for Upkeep Work

Chandigarh 02^nd December:- Various upkeep works of SAS Nagar including 520 parks, five sport stadiums, 6 community centres & upkeep from phase 1 to 11 along with sector 48, 66, 67, 68, 69 earlier being carried out by Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) have been allotted to Municipal Corporation Mohali. Chief Administer GMADA Varun Roozam while shifting over the works to Municipal Corporation handed over all the relevant documents to Mayor municipal Corporation Kulwant Singh, Deputy Mayor Manjit singh sethi and Commissioner Municipal Corporation Rajesh Dhiman.

Varun Roozam said that earlier the besides the upkeep of 6 community centres in SAS Nagar, the upkeep of 520 parks, and sport stadiums at sector 59,61,65,69,71 was being carried out by GMADA. But now, these upkeep works will be carried out by Municipal Corporation. Besides this upkeep work of phase 1 to 11 and various sectors has also been shifted to Municipal Corporation. He said that GMADA will provide an amount of Rs. 50 crore per year for the above said upkeep & maintenance works. Besides above, GMADA has also shifted the upkeep work for Road from Gurudwara Singh Shaheedan to IISER, Nature Park, Green Belts and Public Health works to Municipal Corporation.

During this Mayor Municipal Corporation Kulwant Singh said that the works have been shifted to Municipal Corporation as per their strong demand for the same which has fulfilled now. He said that shifting of all these works under Municipal Corporation will be a great relief for the public. After the initiation of Single Window System public need not to visit various offices and the works shifted from GMADA will now be entertained by Municipal Corporation, which will help general public in reducing their efforts and will also expedite the process.

Municipal Corporation Commissioner Municipal Corporation Rajesh Dhiman said that Municipal Corporation will perform their duty with full dedication will give special importance to the works shifted from GMADA to Municipal Corporation and will fulfill their commitment towards general public. Commissioner Municipal Corporation said that Rs. 4 crore will be spent for beautification of berms, maintaining green belts, road side tree plantation and strengthening of road from Phase 7 (Dussehra Ground) to PCA Stadium and beautification of entire city will be done.
