Pb.VidhanSabha Election:First Day of Filing nNomination,No Nomination Filed By Any Candidate:Mangat

Chandigarh 11th January:- On the very first day of filling nomination for the coming assembly elections in Punjab for all three constituencies namely Kharar-052, SAS Nagar-053 and Dera Bassi-112, no nomination received by any of the candidates.  Stating this district electoral officer cum deputy commissioner D.S. Mangat said that any participating candidate could file their nomination papers at prescribed counters in the office of returning officers till 18 January from 11 AM to 3 PM on any day. In this regard, D S Mangat said that nominations could not be filled on 14th and 15th January due to holidays.
He further said that scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted on 19 January and till 21 January any candidate could withdraw his/her nomination. Polling will be held on 4th Feb Saturday from 8 AM to 5 PM. Finally counting of votes will be done on 11th March 2017. He said that participating candidates from assembly constituency Kharar-052 could submit their nomination papers at Returning Officer cum SDM Kharar at office of SDM Kharar and for constituency SAS Nagar-053; candidates could submit their nomination papers with returning officers at SDM Office at District Administrative Complex SAS Nagar. Meanwhile for the constituency Dera Bassi -112, candidates could submit their nomination papers at Returning Officer cum SDM Dera Bassi at Tehsil Complex Dera Bassi. He said that participating candidate has to appear in person in front of concerned returning officer along with his/her nomination filled in prescribed From-2B including requisite annexure. Besides this, candidate has also a facility or online filing of nomination through website on nomination portal and after taking printout of nomination filed online; it is required to be signed by the candidate and is to be submitted to returning officer in person. This facility has been provided for maintaining online record of filed nominations. However the use of online nomination facility through website has not been made mandatory. He said that while submitting the nomination, not more than 5 persons including the candidate is allowed to remain present in the office of returning officer and not more than 3 vehicles of the candidate are allowed to enter within 100 meter reach.
