NCB Chandigarh Unit Seize 2.000 Kgs. Opium and 4.900 Kgs. Sweet Stone

Chandigarh 07th February:- NCB Chandigarh Zonal Unit seized 2.000 Kgs. of Opium and 4.900 Kgs. Sweet Stone (Tanka) and arrested one persons Devi Singh, resident of village Bhaisonda Mandi, Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh at Derabassi, Mohali (Punjab).  
Dr. Kaustubh Sharma, Zonal Director said that the NCB team had received information that the above person is involved in drug smuggling during the last six months and supplying Opium in Haryana and surrounding region. Acting on this, NCB team had laid a naka near Derabassi, Mohali, Punjab and arrested Devi Singh when he is trying to smuggle Opium from Madhya Pradesh. The contraband was concealed in a bag recovered from the accused Devi Singh. Dr. Kaustubh Sharma further informed that the accused revealed that sweet stone (Tanka) is used for mixing with Opium to increase the quantity of opium which will fetch more money. Further, enquiries revealed that Devi Singh had supplied opium twice in Haryana in the past and this was his third attempt to supply Opium when he was caught red handed by Narcotics Control Bureau Chandigarh.
