Rotary and Blood Bank Society Resource Centre Honours 700 Blood Donors

Chandigarh 06th February:- Governor of Haryana Kaptan Singh Solanki felicitated over 700 blood donors and institutions of the region at the annual award function organized by Rotary and Blood Bank Society Resource Centre here today in the grounds of Panjab University. 
Kaptan Singh Solanki commended the continued commitment of six centurion donors who have crossed over 100 donations which included Amar Vivek, Jasbir Singh, Parminder Pal Singh Thethi, Rajeev Manchanda, Surinder Kumar, and YogeshSood.
Prof Solanki remarked that blood donors represent the human ethos of Indian culture and those who give a part of their self to the society are divine, he said. Every 2 seconds a patient somewhere in the country needs blood and it is the noble-hearted people like you who save their lives through regular blood donation. 
He said that saving a life by giving blood which gets replenished in human body within few hours, is the noblest of the act and everyone must continue to keep the Blood Banks running through their regular donation.  He asked that every human being above 18 years must celebrate life by donating blood at least on their birthdays, wedding anniversaries, or whenever they can. 
Thirty one organizations who had been regularly organizing camps and gave minimum 100 or more donors were also felicitated at the function including Punjab and Haryana High Court, St Stephens School, St John’s School,
On this occasion the annual edition of the Centre's magazine, 'GIVE' was also released. 
Speaking on the occasion, Past Rotary International President Rajendra K Saboo and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Blood Centre said that it is one of the few blood banks in the country that has been recognized by various agencies for its excellent performance, and the Centre received four awards last year. 
There were 50 star donors who donated blood four times and 620 others who had donated for two to three times during 2016 at the Centre.
Some of the prominent dignitaries at the awards function included Vice Chancellor of Panjab University Prof A.K. Grover, Project Director of Chandigarh State Aids Control Society Dr Vanita Gupta, Additional Project Director of Haryana Aids Control Society Dr Jasjit Kaur, Managing Director of Punjab Health Systems Corporation, HusanLal, Blood Centre Chairman Anil Nehru, Administrator Surinder Kaur, Director Dr Manish Rai, amongst others.
