Governor Badnore Inaugurates “Mini Auditorium” at Tagore Theatre

Chandigarh 03rd May:- The much awaited “Mini Auditorium” was today inaugurated by V. P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh. The inauguration was done in the presence of M.P Singh, Additional Chief Secretary to Governor Punjab, Anurag Agarwal, Home Secretary-cum-Secretary Cultural Affairs, Mukesh Anand, Chief Engineer, Kapil Setia, Chief Architect, Balkar Singh Sidhu, Director, Tagore Theatre and other senior officials of the Chandigarh Administration.
During the inauguration ceremony, there was a Ghazal performance by Vinod Sehgal renowned Ghazal and Playback Singer. Vinod Sehgal was initiated into music by his father Sohan Lal Sehgal and learnt Classical Music from RM Kulkarni, CL Jigyasu and nuances of ghazal singing from ghazal king Jagjit Singh.    
After making a mark in the region Vinod Sehgal shifted to Mumbai in 1975 and worked as Music Assistant to Hans Raj Behl from 5 years till he fell in the blessed tutelage of his revered guru Jagjit Singh in 1980. Sh. Vinod Sehgal has also been honored with several awards including Haryana GauravSamman, Haryana Punjabi Sahit Akademi and Urdu Akademi Awards and many more.  
For less number of audiences a dire need of Mini Auditorium was realized, in which literary, musical and cultural items could be presented. Concerts of classical dances and music are enjoyed and relished by a few number of learned audience. To fulfill the goal, the Department of Culture, Chandigarh Administration took the initiative of constructing a Mini Auditorium with an elegant look, which is equipped with all modern theatrical facilities. The Mini Theatre has been set up by the Engineering department of U.T, Chandigarh. The Mini Auditorium is ready to host any kind of shows as it has a beautiful hall with black curtains, stage, wooden floor, modern lighting and sound-facility, 100 retractable seats. Two separate Green Rooms for artists (one for ladies, one for gents), changing rooms, and separate toilets as well. Mini Auditorium is fully air conditioned.
