May:- The
much awaited “Mini Auditorium” was today inaugurated by V. P. Singh Badnore,
Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh at Tagore Theatre,
Chandigarh. The inauguration was done in the presence of M.P Singh, Additional
Chief Secretary to Governor Punjab, Anurag Agarwal, Home Secretary-cum-Secretary
Cultural Affairs, Mukesh Anand, Chief Engineer, Kapil
Setia, Chief Architect, Balkar Singh Sidhu, Director, Tagore Theatre and other
senior officials of the Chandigarh Administration.
During the inauguration ceremony, there
was a Ghazal performance by Vinod Sehgal renowned Ghazal and Playback Singer. Vinod
Sehgal was initiated into music by his father Sohan Lal Sehgal and learnt
Classical Music from RM Kulkarni, CL Jigyasu and nuances of ghazal singing from
ghazal king Jagjit Singh.
After making a mark in the region Vinod
Sehgal shifted to Mumbai in 1975 and worked as Music Assistant to Hans Raj Behl
from 5 years till he fell in the blessed tutelage of his revered guru Jagjit
Singh in 1980. Sh. Vinod Sehgal has also been honored with several awards
including Haryana GauravSamman, Haryana Punjabi Sahit Akademi and Urdu Akademi
Awards and many more.
