Illegal Slaughtering Should Not Be Allowed in Urban & Rural Area: M.S.Ahluwalia

Chandigarh 26th July:- A meeting under the Chairmanship of M.S. Ahluwalia, Member of Animal Welfare Board of India was held in the U.T., Guest, in the presence of  Senior Superintendent of Police, U.T., Chandigarh, Director, Animal Husbandry & Fisheries, U.T., Chandigarh, Joint Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, U.T., Chandigarh, Director, Rural Development & Panchayats, U.T., Chandigarh, Joint Director, Animal Husbandry & Fisheries, U.T., Chandigarh, Superintendent, Slaughter House, M.C., U.T., Chandigarh.
At the outset the Chairman appreciated the work of SPCA as its functioning has improved since the Chandigarh Administration has taken it over from the NGO.  He desired that the Police Department, U.T., Chandigarh may designate a Nodal Officer for effective registration of Animal Cruelty cases under PCA, 1960.  He also urged to take strict action against the quack Veterinarian who are active in the periphery of Chandigarh and treating stray as well as pet animals without any recognized degree. 
He urged that illegal slaughtering should not be allowed in Urban & Rural area and the Municipal & Rural Development department to act strictly upon these activities.  As there are no Veterinary X-Ray facilities for stray animals in Chandigarh therefore the chairman said that the Animal Welfare Board of India will provide funds for Veterinary X-Ray unit and requested to put up demand for the same to Animal Welfare Board of India.
