Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh Celebrated Hindi Diwas. The
event was coordinated by Dr. Aradhna Mehtani of the Hindi Department and
presided over by the Principal, Dr. Jatinder Kaur. On this occasion, students
recited poems on the topic ‘Stree Vimash’.
The importance of bilingualism was discussed, and it was
brought to light that Hindi and English are not opposing languages. The
importance of staying connected to one’s roots and one’s mother tongue was
illuminated. Knowledge of one’s mother tongue is a matter of pride. Hindi was
the language of our freedom struggle. Hindi unites the people of diverse
cultures in our country and serves as a lingua franca.
