15th Annual Conference of Complex Cardiovascular Catheter Therapeutics (C3) Summit Held

Chandigarh 25th June:- Continuing with its legacy of providing the world with best in class medical education, PGIMER successfully delivered one live transmission of a complex coronary angioplasty case amongst a group of eminent scholars, who were attending a reputed interventional cardiology conference held at Orlando, USA.  A large number of international audiences witnessed the live case, which was transmitted from the catheterization lab, Department of Cardiology, PGI. This was the 15th annual conference of Complex Cardiovascular Catheter Therapeutics (C3) summit held at Orlando, USA. The conference is one of the prestigious and recognized global interventional cardiology meetings in the world and is attended by about 1500 international experts.   
Professor Dr. Rajesh Vijayvergiya with his team from the cardiology department performed a complex and technically challenging coronary angioplasty case. It was a case of left main coronary artery disease, which got blocked following stenting, a procedure performed at outside hospital 9-months back.
Prof. Vijayvergiya commented that the cases of left main coronary angioplasty are technically challenging and require great technical expertise and experience, along with the use of advanced hardware. The case was extensively discussed & appreciated well amongst the global experts, who were witnessing the live case. The panelists specifically mentioned about the learning tips and importance of imaging in treating such cases to the participants gathered from all across the world.
Prof. Vijayvergiya commented that PGIMER, Chandigarh is amongst handful centers in India, where such kind of complex procedures are successfully performed on regular basis with the use of advanced imaging modalities like intra-vascular ultrasound (IVUS) and optical coherence tomography (OCT).  This clearly establishes the footprints of PGIMER as one of the most prominent tertiary care institute in India, which is at par with leading international institutes in the cardiology field.
