Major Blood Donation Drive by Hind Samachar Group in Over 65 Cities Alongwith Red Cross Society

Chandigarh 13th September:- In a landmark initiative, the Hind Samachar Group, one of the largest media publishing conglomerates in the country organised a mass blood donation campaign on the occasion of the death anniversary of its founder Lala Jagat Narain.
This corporate social responsibility initiative saw over 6,066 units of blood being collected in campaigns spread over 65 cities of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh and even Bihar and Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
The campaign was carried out along with the entire district Red Cross Societies. Punjab topped the list of units of blood collected with a collection of 3483 units. Mohali was the number one in Punjab with a collection of 212 units.
Haryana saw a collection of 1960 units with Kurukshetra topping the list with 538 units.
Himachal Pradesh saw a collection of 399 units with Kangra topping the list with 81 units.
Jammu and Kashmir saw a collection of 120 units with Jammu being the highest at 48 units.
Bihar’s Aara saw a collection of 13 units. Uttarakhand’s Dehradun collected 21 units.
Uttar Pradesh saw a collection of 66 units with Muzzaffarnagar seeing a collection of 50 units.
The founder of the Hind Samachar Group Lala Jagat Narain was gunned down by terror forces on September 9, 1981. This was his 38th death anniversary and the group has been organising blood donation campaigns since the past three years. Last year 4620 units of blood were collected as part of the blood donation drive.
Speaking on the initiative, the Chopra Family said that the motive of blood donation campaign was to take forward the ideologies and thoughts of the founder Lala Jagat Narain who always stood for the betterment of society and gave down his life for the same.’
In addition to blood donation camps, the Hind Samachar group organises many other socially responsible initiatives to help the society irrespective of caste colour creed. The group is always in the forefront to help the Nation during any national calamity such as Punjab and Kerala floods, Kargil war, Pulwama attack. The Shaheed Parivaar Fund which was founded in 1983 by Padam Shri Vijay Chopra, Chairperson of the Hind Samachar Group for helping the families of the martyrs has collected and contributed Rs 17.51 crore. The group has also recently started organising chess championships in different cities for all age groups to encourage mental development.
The founder of the Hind Samachar Group -Lala Jagat Narain was gunned down by terror forces on September 9, 1981. This was his 38th death anniversary. In recognition of the contribution of Lala Jagat Narain to society, the Indian Government has also issued a postage stamp.
