India in Position to Enhance its Textile Production in Coming Times: Badnore

Chandigarh 15th November:- The Governor of Punjab and administrator Chandigarh, H.E. V.P. Singh Badnore on Friday inaugurated the 75th Platinum Jubilee of the All India Textile Conference organized by The Textile Association (India) PHC Unit Chandigarh at Hotel 'The Lalit', Chandigarh. The governor lit the lamp in presence of Guest of Honour, Ashish Bagrodia, the president of TAI (PHC), L.K Singh, Conference Chairman, S.N. Sodhi, Rajeev Garg, Mukesh Tyagi and Hon Secretary TAI (PHC), Satish Marwah and other delegates.
In his address the Governor hailed the efforts of the organizer Chandigarh unit for its efforts to assemble the share holders of textile industry from all over country under one roof to discuss the future of textile industry in particular and India in whole. He also congratulated the delegates and organizers on the auspicious week of celebrations of 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor said that India is on the helm of being a world leader in economy in years to come and textile industry can play an important and crucial role in this regard as TAI is the largest business body of country providing 110 Million jobs to the people of India. He said that Indian textile industry has the capacity to grow on the faster pace due to present business environment throughout world and moreover the domestic market is growing at a healthy rate. 
Talking about the contribution of Punjab state in the field of textile, the governor said that Punjab produces 65% of the total textile production of India and 95% of woolen textile in particular. He added that for the purpose of research and designing in textile, Punjab has set up Research and Fashion center at Mohali and Government School of Knitting at Amritsar and both the centers are doing well to provide new techniques in the textile industry.
Inviting the stakeholders of industry to come together to resolve the issues and challanges being faced by industry he said the new ideas and technology can make a diffrence in the field. He also invited the industrialists to invest in the state as Punjab has a great potential to grow in the field.
