'The Known & Unknown Edit'-Fashion Show Brings on Ramp an Eclectic Mix of Spring Summer 2020 Collections of India's Top Designers

Chandigarh 29th Feb:- A unique Trunk and Fashion Show 'The Known and Unknown Edit 2' was held at Sukhna Enclave, Kaimbwala Road, Chandigarh.
The one of a kind fashion extravaganza was organised by Babi Grewal & Sarah Mehra, Co-founders of The Known & The Unknown Edit. The event turned out to be a paradise for tricity's fashion enthusiasts, as it presented 38 top fashion labels from across the country. Not only fashion, there was a delightful assortment of labels and brands in genres like  Jewellery, Home Decor, Health Consulting, Accessories  and much more at 'The Known & The Unknown Edit.' There was an elaborate food section which saw The Catering Co & Vasano presented mouthwatering delicacies.
 Sarah said that the Trunk Show showcased various Fashion Week Designers such as  Abraham & Thakore, Varija Bajaj, Mandira Bedi  & Babi Grewal,  and many more emerging designer labels and brands from across the country.
It was a one-stop destination for one's fashion & lifestyle needs and the who's who of the tricity fashion circuit could be spotted.
Babi Grewal said that the Known & Unknown Edit was a one of a  kind event as it brought fashion from the ramp straight to the stall, for the potential customers to buy it straight off the Runway.
The glittering night of 'The Known & The Unknown Edit 2’ also witnessed a fashion show in which the beautiful, exquisite and well curated collections on the 'Spring Summer Collection 2020' theme were presented. These collections by some renowned India Fashion Week designers were displayed by 20 models who walked the ramp wearing them.
India fashion week designers Varija Bajaj and Babi Grewal interacted with media and shared details about their collections. Varija Bajaj who is a member of FDCI(Fashion Design Council of India) and has been part of India Fashion Week for several seasons  said, "Focusing on the free-spirited bohemian culture my line  LELA  showcased a Boho Chic collection at Chandigarh to provide one with the experience of wearing clothes and start celebrating life for no special reason. LELA-is all about fusion Pret wear is the brand child of VARIJA Lifestyles." It is noteworthy that Varija being a successful entrepreneur, in an unorganized fashion sector, is now a case study in ISB Hyderabad, the most reputed B-schools of the country.
Babi Grewal, who recently showcased at the Blenders Pride show, also showcased her collection and interacted with media. Babi said, "My collection-'Iluminate', was an evening collection with saturated shades of blue, dark green, maroon, dark red and black. To make the individual shine bright and beautiful like water in the sea, dark, mysterious, impenetrable yet illuminating.
The highlight of the trunk show was celebrity designer Mandira Bedi's showcase. The renowned Bollywood actress turned fashion designer Mandira Bedi's sari collection attracted attention at the trunk show. The 'Mandira Bedi Sari brand' encapsulates the very essence of Mandira herself and embodies her distinct taste. She had brought forth her latest collection 'Sirius'. It is based on the brightest star in the night, an effective play of juicy pastels and sparkly sequins, with structure blood colors and subtle bling. A perfect outfit for the festive season, to bring out the star in you.
Meanwhile the team which backed the event was extremely talented and very professional, , and the fashion show was choreographed by a renowned fashion show director, Jibran Khan. The other partners of the event included Creatiavtorss modelling agency and there were many other official partners who helped in bringing the  event to the next level.

150 Examined in Rotary Health Camp

Panchkula 29th Feb:- As many as 150 people were examined during a free multi-speciality health camp at Ojas Hospital,Panchkula on Saturday. The camp was organized by Rotary Club, Himalayan Ranges-Mansa Devi.
A team of Ojas doctors including Dr Suresh Singla and Dr Gagandeep Gupta from orthopaedics , Dr Pankaj Gupta from cardiology, Dr Deepti Singla from gynaecology, Dr Abhay Gupta from urology and Dr Gaurav Jain from neurology and Dr Gaurav Jain from neurology gave consultations during camp.
During occasion, Gaurav Ghai, president of club was honoured. He said that the club will arrange such camps in future also. The aim of camp was to provide multi-i specialty services to people of in and around area.

Chamber of Chandigarh Industries Holds 22nd Blood Donation Camp

Chandigarh 29th Feb:- Chamber of Chandigarh Industries under its corporate social responsibility initiative, organised the 22nd Blood Donation Camp at the Community Centre, Industrial Area, Phase I, here.
As many as 250 units of blood were collected at the camp.
Naveen Manglani, President, Chamber of Chandigarh Industries said that we have already successfully conducted 21 blood donation camps. Apart from an annual blood donation camp, the chamber from time to time keeps taking social initiatives which are aimed at helping economically weaker sections of society. The blood donation camps are held annually to help in creating a buffer of this important resource.
The blood bank of Post Graduate Medical College of Education and Research (PGIMER) collected the blood under the supervision of Dr Suchet Sachdev.
Ashok Goel, General Secretary, Chamber of Chandigarh Industries said that the unique aspect about the event was that not only blood was collected but there were free of cost  tests available for Creatnine, Calcium, Sugar (Random)and Cholesterol. The Bharat Vikas Parishad collaborated with the Chamber to provide this facility.
Rajwant Singh, Chairman, Blood Camp, said that the donors by and large were chamber members, members of their families, employees, and a sizable number of female donors also donated blood.  Senior officers heading different departments of Chandigarh Administration also visited the camp.
Gifts and health tonics were distributed to all the donors and a bhandara was also held for the industrial employees. Such camps help in filling the wide gap between demand and supply of the precious gift of life -blood. By conducting the camp the chamber has provided an example which is worth emulating by other organisations and society.

Debina Bonnerjee Enters Sony SAB’s Fantasy Show Aladdin: Naam Toh Suna Hoga

Sharing about her role, Debina said that it is always exciting to portray a new role and with a fantasy show like Aladdin: Naam Toh Suna Hoga, the character is even more magical and grand. She is thrilled to be playing the role of Mallika in a story which has painted her childhood with beautiful memories. Mallika has been brought to life with immense care and thought. The mere look of the character speaks volumes about her significance in the show. She is excited to play a negative character as she has so many layers to her personality to play with. She feel, Mallika will be a character she will always remember.
Talking about her look, Debina shared that it almost took 3.5 hours to perfect Mallika's look. While the look is grand, a lot of detail has gone into making her look inevitable and beautiful. It’s thrilling to adorn different make-up and play larger than life characters. She really look forward to portray Mallika at her full glory.
Debina, who has previously been of the Sony SAB family, is overwhelmed to be coming back to the channel as she shares that she is a protégé of Sony SAB. At the time when she was playing monotonous, one kind of roles, Sony SAB helped me break that monotony and gave me a new identity. Being a part of Chidiya Ghar was a great thing that happened to her as the character got widely recognized by people.

CII New Punjab Office Bearers Welcome the Budget Proposal for Industry

Chandigarh 29th Feb:- Rahul Ahuja and  Bhavdeep Sardana newly elected  Chairman  and  Vice Chairman of CII Punjab for the year 2020-21 have welcomed the budget presented by the Finance Minister, Manpreet Badal.
Rahul Ahuja said that the proposed industrial parks in Mattewal, Bathinda and Rajpura on the Amritsar-Kolkatta Industrial Corridor and a pharmaceutical park in Wazirabad in Fatehgarh Sahib would help in building the industrial profile of the State and also generate the employment opportunities for the people of the State. He welcome the budgetary allocation for up-gradation of all industrial focal points which badly need the makeover but he added that the allocation could have been more for the up-gradadtion of infrastructure in the existing focal points. Allocation of Rs. 50 crore to acquire the land for Patti Makhu Rail Link would not only  promote the tourism of the holy city as the distance between Amritsar and Mumbai will be reduced by 240km it but also boost the exports from the region.
Bhavdeep Sardana said that the plans to bring about diversification in agriculture by giving a boost to maize cultivation are welcome. He also lauded the finance minister for taking care of environment by earmarking Rs 2,510 crore for supplying canal water for irrigation and proposing a scheme, “Save Water Earn Money”, which is aimed at rationalizing the use of tube wells.
He also congratulates the Finance Minister for coming out with a Development Oriented Balanced Budget and giving priority to the education sector which is the need of the hour. The decisions to set up Mega Industrial clusters for Textiles, Pharmaceuticals & Green Industries and provisioning of Rs 131 crores to Modernise Industry will definitely boost Industrial activity in the state.

Hero Motocorp Brings ‘Xtracks-Live The Thrill’ to Chandigarh

Chandigarh 28th Feb:- Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, today organized its popular riding experience –‘XTracks – Live the Thrill’ in the Chandigarh.
The event provided an exciting opportunity for participants to experience the Indian Motorcycle of the Year 2020 – the Hero XPulse 200, on a specially-curated thrilling off-road zone.
This was the first edition of XTracks, where participants also got the opportunity to ride on the recently launched XPulse 200 Rally Kit.
In addition to showcasing the capabilities of Hero XPulse 200 and XPulse 200 Rally Kit on multiple terrains, the XTracks experience also aims to impart critical riding skills to enthusiasts and riders, thereby enhancing their riding abilities. It makes riding more fun, and yet safe for them.
At the XTracks Experience, the participants were first provided with product and safety briefings that help them to understand the capabilities of the bike and inculcate safe riding habits. Following the briefings, riders were led on a specially curated on-and-off-road track by expert riders from Hero MotoCorp. The tracks included obstacles that help riders test the characteristic features of the XPulse 200 and it’s Rally Kit.
Chandigarh is the tenth location to host the multi-city event after Delhi/NCR, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune, Lucknow, Kochi and Guwahati. Each of these locations witnessed eager participation from hundreds of riders and enthusiasts.
This edition of XTracks experience is special for another reason. It was held in tandem with the 33rd Hero SJOBA Rally. The Hero SJOBA Rally is the oldest rally in the region and Hero MotoCorp is the title sponsor of the Rally for the second consecutive year.

SPEAK’s Seminar on ‘Use and Abuse of Drugs and India’s Pharma Conundrum’ Held

Chandigarh 28th Feb:- The Society for Promotion of Ethical and Affordable health Care organized a seminar ‘Use and Abuse of drugs and India’s pharma conundrum’ at Press Club, Sector 27, Chandigarh on Friday.
The seminar witnessed presentations by eminent speakers from Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Government Medical College & Hospital (GMCH), Panjab University (PU), Media fraternity, Administration and civil society.
Dr. R. Kumar President (SPEAK) India while explaining the theme of the seminar said that the focus of this seminar is on assuring the availability, cost and quality of prescription drugs, besides eliminating the abuse of drugs by patients and doctors.  Most ailments can be prevented through healthy life style and clean environment.
On this occasion, Ajit Singh Chatha former Chief Secretary Punjab and Justice J.C. Verma President High Court daily Lok Adalat were the guests of honour.
The seminar also saw lively interaction in the Panel discussion among the panelists on the one hand and the panel versus distinguished gathering on the other.
While opening the discussion Dr. S.K.Jindal Director Jindal clinics clarified as to what is use and what is abuse of prescription drugs.
Dr. Shankar Prinja from PGI dealt with issues like medical debt and poverty and how drugs can be made affordable, while Dr. C.S. Gautam from GMCH spoke on rational use of medicines and the need for medical audit to eliminate abuse of prescription medicines.
Drifting forward at session, Prof Rajinder Kaur from PU outlined the existing laws that are supposed to control the pricing and quality of drugs and how they have failed to do the needful.
Adding to this, Harvinder Khetal from the Tribune spoke on that how community can be saved from prohibitive and un-necessary cost of medicines.
In the concluding, A S Chatha and Justice Verma dwelt on governance and legal aspects and how the government can have better control on drug administration in the interest of the patients.
Others who participated in the discussion and made valuable comments included R.K Taneja IAS, Prof Keerti Pradhan Dean Chitkara University, Arundeep Ahluwaia professor emeritus Panjab University  and advocate Namish Sodhi.

‘CII Applauds Haryana Budget’: Sunjay Kapur

Chandigarh 28th Feb:- Appreciating the announcements made in Haryana Budget 2020-21 presented by Manohar Lal, Chief Minister, Haryana, Sunjay Kapur, Chairman, CII Haryana State Council & Chairman, Sona COMSTAR said that the budget’s focus on education, health, security and self-reliance is a significant step towards promoting equitable growth in the state.
Sunjay Kapur congratulated the State Government for presenting a good budget and mentioned that the State’s decision to introduce no new taxes is a welcome move. He also welcomed the Government’s decision to provide isosorbide Dinitrate tablets used to treat heart failure, free of cost at public places in the state. He further appreciated the State’s decision to launch Skill Training Programmes for Registered Medical Practitioners in the State through Vishwakarma Skill University.
Lauding the state’s decision to increase allocation for the education sector by 28% and announcements for opening 116 new model schools across the state, English medium schools and digital libraries in rural areas, Sunjay Kapur said that this move will go a long way in increasing literacy rate in Haryana.
The State’s announcement to set up 24 new Model Industrial Training Institutes fitted with modern equipment, trained staff, internet connection and other required facilities in the year 2020-21 will enhance the availability of technically qualified work force for industry.
As presence of sound infrastructure is key to economic growth, Sunjay Kapur lauded the state’s announcements to construct Road Over Bridges/Road Under Bridges in the state under a special programme at all the National Highways passing through the State, State Highways and main District Roads in the year 2020-21.
He expressed his happiness over Haryana’s performance in the Ease of Doing Business Index and mentioned that the Government’s efforts in formulating and implementing “New Enterprise Promotion Policy 2015” are yielding desired results.
Speaking on the announcements made for the agriculture sector, he said that the State’s decisions to encourage organic farming and setting up of Stubble Purchase Centres in each block of affected districts are welcome moves as in addition to improving the quality of crops being produced such steps will also help controlling environmental pollution.

Lack of Seriousness in Controlling Road Accidents: Ludhiana at the Mercy of Politicians

Ludhiana 27th Feb:- Ludhiana witnesses a death on city roads every day. The official figures listed at least 40 deaths in the month of January this year.  Quoting the official data of approximately 1100 deaths in last 3 years and an average of 350 deaths and 500 seriously injured every year in road accidents , Dr Kamal Soi Chairman of the NGO Raahat - The Safe Community Foundation while addressing a press conference here today gave a peep into frightening reality of road accidents.  
Dr Kamal Soi, a Member- National Road Safety Council of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, highlighted the initiatives taken in the last one month and rolled out the way forward under “Mission Safe Ludhiana 2020”. Central to his strong message was lackadaisical attitude of law enforcement agencies and also the lacking interest of the politicians in talking about the need for regulating traffic habits. 
Giving details of the official data, Dr Kamal Soi said the fatality rate of accidents in the city was 68 per cent making Ludhiana among the cities with most dangerous roads in the entire country. 
Listing out a series of activities to be undertaken as part of the mission to achieve reduced number of deaths in road accidents by 25% & to help ensuring lesser jams & ensure safe reliable & ease of mobility in the City, he said that he will begin with a Road Safety Prayer’ asking public to make a commitment on driving safely and carrying all valid documents.
Dr Kamal Soi said that DAV School, BRS Nagar, Green Land Group of Schools and many others had joined  Mission Safe Ludhiana 2020. We have also received support from eminent personalities in different fields of life including Padma Bhushan Dr SS JohalSh Darshan Arora Chairman Ludhiana Citizen Council, CA Ravi Kant Gupta Member Local Mgt Committee DAV School BRS Nagar Ludhiana. He also named certain NGOs and Media houses who had come forward to support the Mission. 
Spelling out the areas of concern for the mission, Dr Kamal Soi spoke about HSRP Number plates, driving licenses, scientific enforcement of rules, Safe School Vahan Policy, Police Station wise monitoring of Road Accidents , handling of road deaths, Traffic Jams, Road Safety Audits, Condition of Roads, Correction of Black Spots and regular media briefing. 
Dr Soi said that special focus has to be the implementation of High Security Registration Plates in Ludhiana. he urged government to expedite the process of implementation of high security registration plates (HSRP) on new as well as old vehicles as this is a issue of National Security and can go a long way in curbing vehicle borne crimes.  He informed that State Transport Department has already implemented restrictions for any transaction without affixation of HSRP. and the process of applying is now being made easier as customer can now apply HSRP online for old/existing vehicles in addition to implementation of appointment system for affixation of HSRP , but implementation of HSRP on Old vehicles and lack of enforcement still remains a major challenge. Temper proof HSRP plates are affixed with non-removable and non-reusable snap locks and their Reflectivity index improves vision specially at night and during foggy season.
Dr Soi added that the mission has chalked out a long list of activities to educate people about the Motor Vehicle Amended Bill 2019.  He spelt details about the Speed Governors for Controlling Speed in Commercial Vehicles, GPS in Public Service Vehicles, Safe Outdoor Advertising Policy and Training of Police Personnel.

Ranbir Kumar's Latest Ghazal Album “DASTAAN” Captures the Feelings of Love”

Although Ranbir Kumar has sung and composed in many music albums, but his album “Safar” was the paramount. In which he worked with famous Urdu Poet Sahab Nida Fazli. Bollywood playback Singer Anuradha Paudwal also sang his composition. Ghazal album “Chubhan”, “Rafta-Rafta”, “Maazi” and “Justuju”, are also included in his medley. Now once again, he has come with his new Ghazal album “DASTAAN” for the Ghazal lovers.
Album “DASTAAN” describes the story and emotions of relationship, love, pain and parting. In this album one ghazal of famous Urdu Poet “Rajinder Nath Rehbar” is also included. Earlier the Ghazal of Rehbar Sahib has sung by Ghazal Maestro Jagjit Singh like “Tere Khushboo mei likhe Khat main jalata kaise”,  is quite famous. In “DASTAAN” his Ghazal “Dil Ne Jise Chaha Ho, Kya Usse Gila Rakhna, Uske Liye Hontho Par Har Waqt Dua Rakhna”, is comprehended. Two Ghazals of the famous Urdu Poet Roop Sagar London (U.K.) are there. They are “Ye sach Hai Mohabbat Ne Haraya Hai Mujhe Bhi, Patthar Tha Main Insaan Banaya Hai Mujhe Bhi”, and “Tumhara Gum Hume Raaton mein ab Sone Nahi Deta, Magar Ye Aaina Bhi ab hume Rone Nahi Deta”.

National Seminar on “Organic Farming: A Way to Sustainable Development” Held

Chandigarh 27th Feb:- Dev Samaj College for Women, Sector 45, Chandigarh organized a one-day National Seminar on, Organic Farming “A Way to Sustainable Development" at its campus here today.
Eminent Researchers, experts, and practitioners of organic farming from all over the country participated in the seminar.  On this occasion, Sanjay Chadha, Principal, Agriculture University, Palampur, a senior scientist who has made a notable contribution in research and development in organic farming, and Dr. Madhu Gill, Senior Manager, Council of Punjab, Organic Farming were the Guests of Honour.
Nirmal Singh Dhillon, Secretary of Dev Samaj inaugurated the seminar and voiced his concern about the world civilization that has embraced the short term growth at the cost of sustainable development.
Prof. Promila Pathak, Professor, Department of Botany, stressed on the issues faced by organic farmers in India and pointed out that the lack of policy measures on the part of the government, rising input costs, poor marketing, and an inefficient as well as a time-consuming certification system and concluded by saying that we should grow organic, eat organic and support organic.
More than 35 research papers were presented on various subjects ranging from pest management under organic condition, weed management, nutritional management strategies and farm water management to organic farming and women entrepreneurship.
Prof. Sucha Singh Gill, Senior Professor, CRRID, Chandigarh, in his valedictory address congratulated the college on organizing this successful seminar which provided a platform for exchanging views.
