Organ Donation:3 Critical Patients Get Fresh Lease Of Life With Transplantation Of Liver and Kidneys

By Tricitynews Reporter
Chandigarh 09th February:- After the  decision to donate organs of her daughter, she feels she's somewhere around us, said by Bala Devi, the grief stricken but brave-heart  mother of deceased Pooja, as she consented to donate the organs of her daughter, thereby, giving the “gift of life” to three critically ill patients here at PGI Chandigarh.
Time stopped on February 6 for Bala Devi when she got the tragic news of her daughter, Pooja, 26 years, a resident of Ram Darbar, being grievously injured in a hit and run case while going on her two-wheeler. The family immediately rushed Pooja to a nearby hospital in Mohali from where she was referred to PGI and was admitted here on the same day. But neither the fervent prayers of the family and friends nor the incessant efforts of the attending doctors and nursing staff could change the dark destiny as the head injuries during the accident had caused irreversible brain damage and  Pooja was pronounced brain dead on 7th February after following the protocols of THOA.
Bala Devi, a widow herself who had raised her children facing all the odds of life,  is still in a shock, failing to come to terms with reality of her daughter being no more, as she shared that you know how difficult it is to raise a family after the demise of one’s husband. She and her children have been through enough. How could life have cheated us again? There is no greater pain than losing your child, that too, at such a prime age.
After the brain death declaration, the family, when counseled by the transplant coordinators here in PGI, consented for organ donation of deceased Pooja. Following which, the doctors went ahead with the retrieval of the liver and kidneys. Three persons, including one patient suffering from end-stage liver failure and two kidney patients underwent successful transplants within 24 hours of the decision.
Sulekh and Aarti, mournful but proud siblings of deceased Pooja, shared that we can’t forget -nor would we want to forget - her smile and her laughter and all her hopes and dreams. Now she lays silent-forever gone.
Talking about their courageous step of organ donation, they said that it was the toughest decision. What helped us take a call was that she could live on through other people. Hopefully, our decision for organ donation will help some other families turn lucky and save them from the pain and trauma of losing their family members, with which we will live till our last breath. This will be our biggest tribute to our dear sister.
Pooja’s mother Bala Devi and her siblings Sulekh and Aarti are brave-hearts whose decision of  organ donation is extremely courageous but very rare in a country of 1.2 billion people.

Mutual Fund-Best Investment Avenues for Retail Investor:ICICI Prudential Asset Management

By Tricitynews Reporter
Chandigarh 08th February:- Senior executives of India’s largest Asset Management Company, ICICI Prudential Asset Management were in Chandigarh town to share the fund house views on Outlook 2017 and where retail investors should invest in the year ahead.
Aniruddha Chaudhary Zonal Head (North, South and East) were joined by Sourabh Mahajan, Regional Head (Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, J&K) and Anish Jindal, Director, Finbucks Financial Management, a leading financial advisor in Punjab for the press briefing.
Aniruddha Chaudhary highlighted the benefits of investing in Mutual funds for retail investors and mentioned that investors in Punjab are still overinvested in traditional investment avenues. For creating long term wealth, they need to diversify and invest in equity Mutual Funds. He complimented the market regulator SEBI for its work since Mutual Fund industry in India is seen as one of the best regulated areas in finance. This has led to making Mutual Fund as one of the best investment avenues for the retail investor and there is reasonable evidence of investor satisfaction through wealth creation by investing in such a transparent and low cost product.
He congratulated and acknowledged the efforts of the financial advisors and distributors in Chandigarh along-with media in making Mutual funds more popular. However, given the under penetration and lack of exposure to equities, he shared his view that much more is needed to be done.
He stressed upon the benefits of SIPs in long term wealth creation and as a preferred mode of investing in equity markets. The MF industry in India has seen notable interest in SIP book size growing from 1800 Crs per month in March 2015 to nearly 4000 plusCrs in December 2016.
On the recommendations for 2017 for retail investors, Aniruddha Chaudhary mentioned that with macros remaining supportive, RBI has still some room left to cut rates in 2017. However, we believe that most part of the fixed income rally has already played out and returns may moderate from here on. Having said this, we still believe that over the next three year period fixed income may continue to deliver good post tax returns in comparison to traditional fixed income investment avenues. For 2017, we are recommending retail investors to invest in dynamic duration, short duration and accrual funds.  For equities, we believe that dynamic asset allocation is a better choice to take exposure to equities in order to make best of the volatility which could emerge from global side. Also in a country where the base financial product is fixed deposit, you need an asset class with lower risk than equities to scale up investor interest in mutual funds. He also reiterated the importance of continuing with SIPs.
Anish Jindal mentioned that ICICI Prudential as a brand has maximum recall amongst investors and he is seeing a lot of investor interest in their schemes. The company as on 31st December, 2016 manages INR 2.27 lac crs across various schemes. As per Value Research, a leading MF data provider, the fund house has ensured that their schemes outperform their respective benchmarks, on a consistent basis, and this has helped the AMC to deliver better investor experience.
Aniruddha Chaudhary cited the company’s focus on investor experience, promoting right products at right time, listening to customers and distributors and superior investment management capabilities as reason for their growth and industry leadership.
On being asked about the measures that can help the industry to grow, Aniruddha Chaudhary mentioned that simplified KYC process as available to insurance industry and adequate remuneration for distributors can help the industry to grow much faster.
Sourabh Mahajan shared information on the fund house’s IPRU Touch app, which helps distributors and investors to transact in a very convenient and cost effective manner with no paper work.
Anish Jindal shared information on various schemes of the fund house and specifically recommended ICICI Prudential Equity Income Fund, ICICI Prudential Balanced Advantage Fund, ICICI Prudential Balanced Fund and ICICI Prudential Dynamic Plan for lumpsum investments. For SIPs, he recommended ICICI Prudential ICICI Prudential Multicap Fund, ICICI Prudential Focused Bluechip Equity Fund and ICICI Prudential Value Discovery Fund.

RBI Credit Policy:Change in Monetary Policy Stance from Accommodative to Neutral

By Tricitynews Reporter
Chandigarh 08th February:- The key highlight of the sixth bi-monthly RBI credit policy of 2017 is the change in monetary policy stance from Accommodative to Neutral. This coupled with no change in the repo rate has come across as more hawkish than expected.
Volatile global trends, expected higher inflation, growth and interest rates in the US, and sticky domestic core inflation other than food and fuel seem to have influenced the change in stance.
Inflation targeting is key here.  While inflation is likely to be subdued in Q1 of FY 17/18, upside risks outlined have firmed up global commodity prices including energy, currency volatility due to global factors and inflationary impact of 7th pay commission.
Banks have already transmitted rate reduction on account of liquidity surge in the banking system as a result of demonetization. This is expected to spur consumption and investment. Overall, the policy has a hawkish tone. From here on, global and local factors will be monitored closely to see the impact on inflation and growth for future policy stance.

Speaking about Videocon Connect ‘Young Manch’  Arvind Bali, CEO, Connect Broadband and Videocon Telecom, said that through ‘Young Manch’ our intent is to create a strong connection with the youth segment. The fourth season has been widely welcomed and hugely accepted and has enjoyed a massive success. Previous seasons gave our nation the talents like Rupali Jagga, Himanshu Kanohjia, Gagan Verma and others. We will continue to groom participants and provides them with a platform to showcase their talent.
