Krishnadevraya to Find His Doppelganger in Tenali Rama

Chandigarh 08^th December:- Sony SAB’s Tenali Rama is rising high on popularity with each episode. The show which recently completed 100^th episode is gearing up for interesting stories in the coming week. Pandit Rama Krishna who has been dealing with various difficulties and solving the problems with wit and humor will now have to identify the real king. King Krishnadevraya will meet his doppelganger who will claim to be the real king. 

In the forthcoming episode, King Krishnadevraya attends the Darbar to address everyone and soon an Adivasi who looks exactly like King Krishnadevraya enters the Darbar claiming to be the king. Everyone is shocked and suprised looking at both King and Adivasi. On one hand, Adivasi claims that he is the king and the one sitting on the throne is the lookalike. On the other, the King on the throne claims he is the real Krishnadevraya. This leaves both Tenali and Tattacharya confused. Both Krishnadevraya and Adivasi charge at each other, when Tenali comes in between and stops them. He suggests that no one will sit on the throne till the time they decide who is the real king. Tenali and Tatacharya ask both of them separate questions which only the real King can answer. Unfortunately, both of them answers the questions correctly. This creates more confusion amongst the people present in darbar.

Manav Gohil who is excited to be seen in an Adivasi look said that it’s always fun to play multiple roles. He likes to try every kind of role and this time it’s an Adivasi look. Though it’s very straining to keep the get up for entire day and to manage the wig along with the beard. But as an actor he take it as a perk in his profession.

Chrysanthemums Show Begins Terrace Garden

Chandigarh 08^th December:- The City Beautiful known as "City of Flowers” is witnessing the beautiful Chrysanthemum Show at Terraced Garden, Sector 33. The flower show was today inaugurated by Mrs. Kirron Kher, Member Parliament, U.T., Chandigarh. The show would be open till December 10 and is being organized by the Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh.

On the occasion, Chief Guest released a brochure dedicated to the show. She then went around the Garden alongwith Jitender Yadav, Commissioner, Rajesh Kumar Gupta, Senior Deputy Mayor & area councilor, Anil Kumar Garg, Additional Commissioner, Manoj Bansal, Chief Engineer, N.P. Sharma, Superintending Engineer and other councilors and senior officers of Municipal Corporation to see the various flowers exhibited there with different permutations and combinations.

The Chief Guest applauded the efforts of the officials of Municipal Corporation for organizing such a beautiful show. She also distributed sweets to the labourers and gardeners of Corporation on the occasion. She said that Chandigarh is world-wide known for its beautiful and magnificent gardens supplemented by green patches and flowering trees. She said that the Municipal Corporation is organizing admirable programmes for people of Chandigarh alongwith providing basic aminities and developmental works in the city.

After taking round of the park, the Chief Guest and others laid flower petals at the Martyr’s Pillar in Terraced Garden sector 33 Chandigarh. She also visited the “Swachh Bharat Stall” installed by the IEC team of MCC for creating awareness about Swachh Survekshan-2018 and segregation of waste at source level.

While addressing that gathering, the Commissioner Jitender Yadav appreciated the dedication of gardeners of Municipal Corporation to grow such beautiful flowers. He said that because of the gardeners we enjoy the beauty of flower every year in this show. He said that the Municipal Corporation organizes the Chrysanthemum show every year at Terreced Garden Chandigarh. Last year this show witnessed over 264 varieties of Chrysanthemum, this year 266 varieties of Chrysanthemum are being displayed. All these varieties are grown and well groomed at MC nursery. He said that in this show, various govt./semi govt. institutions and various private growers took part in competitions of flowers grown in pots. Prizes will be given to the winners of best three exhibits in each category on 10^thDecember at 3.00 pm.

Gardeners of Horticulture Department, MC in the show have made boat, camel, peacock, cow, giraffe, lion and many other animals and birds using flowers. Near about 266 varieties of Chrysanthemum have been displayed in the show. The beautiful displays of the Chrysanthemum in the Show have helped Chandigarh in acquiring international fame.

A cultural programme was also organized by the students of Gurukul Global School, Sector 20, Panchkula.

Fifth Edition of Chandigarh Children’s Literature Festival from December 14

Chandigarh 08^th December:- Dikshant School, in association with the Adab Foundation, is bringing top Children’s Literature Authors, illustrators and story tellers from different parts of the country, on a single platform in the 5^th Edition of Chandigarh Children’s Literature Festiva(CCLF 2017). The festival is scheduled on 14^th and 15^th December at Dikshant Global School, Savitry Greens, VIP Road, Zirakpur. Details of the Literary Fiesta for children were shared in a press meet by Mitul Dikshit, Chairman, Adab Foundation & noted children's books' author & Festival director Ms. Chatura Rao.

According to Mitul Dikshit that the much-awaited fifth iteration of the two-day festival will see a diverse set of activities for children. Interactions with authors,  will be aimed at stimulating the imagination of children. This year we have many award winning authors participating in the festival & have also expanded our canvass to include a very interesting session on the tribal art of Gond with a celebrated expert Subhash Singh Vyam, there will be exciting Illustration(comic drawing) sessions too.

Chatura Rao said that the motive of the festival is simple: to enthuse children to develop an interest in reading books & in creative writing. We have something for all children in the age group of 4-18 years. The literature festival will host a number of speakers and conduct many sessions for children, which include storytelling, creative writing, art & craft, talks, poetry and dramatized readings. It will also include sessions covering various aspects of literature like Creative Writing which will include Character Building & genres of Fiction, Non-Fiction, Horror etc story writing.

It is noteworthy that Chatura Rao, is an author whose books for children and adults are published by leading publishing houses. Known for penning books for children like 'The Case of Disappearing Colour', 'Growing Up in Pandupur', 'Nabiya'and 'Gone Grandmother'  her  latest short stories appear in the Flipped Anthology Book 1: Funny Stories/ Scary Stories.

The list of Children’s authors, illustrators and storytellers who will be participating in the festival is enviable. Author of five children’s books Shabnam Minwalla who won the ‘Rivokids Parents and Kids Choice Award’ for her first book The Six Spellmakers of Dorabji Street will let the creativity of children flow in her workshop ‘A pinch of magic’ where children will dream up their very own superhero; cook up rhyming spells; and plan ghastly menus.Writer Harshikaa Udasi will take a session around her book Kittu’s Very Mad Day. The book was one of the winners of the Children First Contest for portraying children with disabilities as ‘children first’. It was also shortlisted for the MAMI Word to Screen 2017.

Winner of the 2006 Commonwealth Press Quarterly's Rolls Royce Award, writer, Rachna Bisht, will introduce aspirants to the vast variety of careers in Army - from flying helicopters to cyber warriors to skydivers to Everest summiteers to civil rescue heroes. Accompanying her to address the children is a very special guest Lt. Col R.S Jamwal a famous mountaineer - Summiteer of Mount Everest three times - 2016 being the last. He has participated in 24 mountaineering expeditions across five continents.  

Payal Kapadia will delve into her book ‘Horrid High’. She is the recipient of the 2013 Crossword Book Award (Children's Literature) for Wisha Wozzariter. 

Children will get a chance to listen to the magical tales come to life in various story telling sessions. Writer & actress Lovleen Mishra will be conducting storytelling sessions. Some of the other storytelling sessions include reading of a Funny Story from the "Flipped Anthology Book 1: A Collection of Funny and Scary Stories" by Author Adithi Rao.

Children will also get a taste of the folk and tribal art form of Gond paintings- paintings that is practiced by one of the largest tribes in India with whom it shares its name.  Subhash Singh Vyam one of the most talented artists of the Gond School of painting will hold a session on his book Water with the illustrator Dhwani Shah an illustrator and graphic designer from Mumbai.

Creator of the Ninja Nani series Lavanya Karthik who won the first Vani Foundation Children’s Literature Fellowship in 2014 will help children draw comics. It is notable that her picture book, ‘Neel on Wheels’ was judged one of the winners in the Children First contest in 2016.

Lavanya Karthik's “The Lions" and Chatura  Rao's " Gone grandmother" are shortlisted for the Hindu Young World Good Books for Best Picture Book.

There is an exclusive session planned for parents by Dr. Tanu Shree Singh who is a Professor of Psychology, specializing in Positive Psychology. Her book Keep Calm and Mommy On is much loved and acclaimed.

The organizers also said that entry to the festival is free and open to all. Many of the school groups have registered to attend the festival; however individual entries are most welcome.

CL-DAV Celebrates its Annual Day 'Aaghaaz'

Virat , HCS Sub Divisional Magistrate, Central, Chandigarh.  S Paul Chairman and Director of Paul merchants Ltd. was the guest of Honour & Ravinder Talwar Secretary DAVCMC graced the occasion.

The cultural fiesta started with the Mantra Ujaran and Welcome speech of school manager Dr. Vikas Kohli. All present took the blessing of lord Shiva. .The function witnessed a fabulous array of dance and musical acts. Kindergarten students dressed in colourful attires,and presented group dance surprised the audience with their rejuvenated energy. The mesmerizing culture show with the maximum participation of the students grabbed the attention of all parents. A colorful dance bonanza  was staged by the  students as they started with Punjabi dance, spreading the happiness in the surroundings followed by the Religious performance ,Hip-Hop, Women empowerment and skit based on child labor brought a thunderous applause from the audience.  

Our worthy principal Mrs. Sunita Ranyal read the Annual school report which was aimed at giving glimpse of the school performance and achievements in the various curricular as well as Co-Curricular activities held during the session. She also thanked the parents for being  so supportive  at each step.

The chief guest appreciated the efforts of the students and the parents. He also applauded the efforts of the team of teachers of the school for putting wonderful and successful show. The culmination was marked by the vote of thank and the National Anthem.

CPCB/DHR Environmental Training Programme on Indoor & Outdoor Air Pollution, Standards & Impacts on Human Health: Case Studies

Chandigarh 07^th December:- A three day residential training programme on the ‘Air Pollution and Human Health: Case Studies’ started today  at School of Public Health, PGIMER. The training programme is being organized by School of Public Health, PGIMER in collaboration with Department of Environment Studies, Panjab University (PU) and is sponsored by Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB)-Delhi and Department of Health Research-Delhi.

Over 50 participants including public health practitioners, medical professionals, pollution control board representatives, environmentalists and researchers representing over 15 states attended the training programme. This environmental training programme will raise the knowledge about the air pollutants, exposure pathways and health effects to better plan the air pollution control strategies and their implementation to reduce the burden of air pollution related deaths and diseases.

Professor Mukesh Khare from Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi delivered a keynote lecture and he mentioned that to better plan the air pollution control in Indian cities, first step is to identify the major sources of air pollutants using source apportionment techniques. Further, he stressed that air pollutants may have different sources in different cities; hence source apportionment studies should be conducted for better control of air pollution. Surender Paul, Director, Indian Meteorology Department-Chandigarh inaugurated the training programme and highlighted that air pollution cannot be ignored and immediate steps are required to reduce the air pollution.

Dr. Ravindra Khaiwal, Organizing Secretary and Associate Professor of Environment Health highlighted that workshop aims to build capacity of the participants to better measure the air pollutants and plan health risk studies in their respective states as an aid to policy measure. Dr. Suman Mor, Coordinator, Centre for Public Health emphasized that this environmental training programme provide an excellent opportunity for the scientist, policy makers and administrators to learn and share best practices to better plan air pollution control strategies in their respective cities.   

Dr. Sreekanth, University of Washington, Seattle explained how long-term and short-term exposure to air pollutants  can be linked to linked to a range of adverse health effects such as respiratory infections or cardiovascular diseases.  He also mentioned that cities can expand air quality monitoring using alternative methods such as satellite imagery and low cost monitoring to generate baseline data and including health related data to support policy and to inform general population. 

Dr Vinayak Sinha, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research-Mohali highlighted that air pollutants in the presence of sunlight and ground level ozone can produce more toxic pollutants. Dr Siby John, Professor, Punjab Engineering College, highlighted that existing infrastructure of medical institute, engineering institutes and universities should be explored to build a network of air pollution exposure and health risk studies. 

UTI MF Introduces e-KYC Facility Using Biometric Verification

Chandigarh 07^th December:- To provide investors a seamless and paper less experience in completing the KYC registration process, UTI Mutual Fund has introduced Aadhaar based e-KYC using biometric verification validated through UIDAI.

All the 150 UTI branches have been equipped with the Biometric Devices which have been procured from vendors registered with UIDAI.

Suraj Kaeley, Group President-Sales & Marketing, UTI AMC said that now any non-KYC compliant customer can complete the KYC process through biometric verification without producing any documents such as photograph, Id proof, address proof. Only PAN and Aadhaar number details will be required. Another advantage of using biometric verification is that the investor will be able to invest any amount without any monetary limit in any of the UTI schemes unlike OTP based KYC which has investment limit of Rs.50000/- per financial year. The Biometric facility provided by UTI has made the KYC process very simple for investors.

भारत माता की जय के नारे लगाकर कश्मीरियों ने किया रक्तदान: कश्मीर से कन्याकुमारी तक भारत एक है, भारत माता की जय के नारे लगाए

Chandigarh 06^th December:- ट्राइसिटी में रक्तदान शिविर तो आए दिन लगाते जाते हैं पर आज नया गांव (जिला मोहाली) में एक अनूठा रक्तदान शिविर लगाया गया जहां 60 कश्मीरी लोगों ने भारत माता की जय और कश्मीर से कन्याकुमारी तक भारत एक है के नारों के साथ रक्तदान किया। 

इनमें महिलाएं और बच्चियां भी शामिल थीं।

यह आयोजन गैर सरकारी समाजसेवी संगठन (एनजीओ) जन एकता सेवा संस्थान (रजि.) के संचालक बलदेव कुमार के प्रयासों से किया गया। बलदेव कुमार पिछले दस साल से कश्मीर के लोगों के लिए कार्य कर रहे हैं और कश्मीर के लोग उन्हें अपना चाचा कहते हैं। सर्दियों में कश्मीरी नागरिकों को कंबल एवं खाने का सामान आदि वितरित करना, रक्तदान शिविर लगाना आदि समाजसेवा के कार्य बलदेव करते रहते हैं। 

बुधवार को नयागांव के आदर्श नगर रामलीला ग्राउंड में तीसरे रक्तदान शिविर का आयोजन किया गया। इस शिविर का उद्धघाटन नयागांव के पार्षद गुरध्यान सिंह ने कश्मीर की बेटियों सहित किया। मूनलाइट वेलफेयर सोसाइटी बी.के. पोरा, बड़गाम, कश्मीर के 60 वालंटियर्स ने इस कैम्प में हिस्सा लिया। पीजीआई की डॉ अनिता और उनकी टीम ने 140 यूनिट ब्लड एकत्रित किया। 

बलदेव कुमार ने बताया कि इससे पहले कश्मीर में जो रक्तदान शिविर लगाए जाते थे उनमें पचास से भी कम यूनिट रक्त एकत्र होता था। परंतु जब उन्होंने वहां रक्तदान शिविर लगाया तो उसमें आंकड़ा सौ से भी ऊपर पहुंच गया। आज कश्मीर विभिन्न हिस्सों से लोग खासतौर से रक्तदान करने के लिए शहर पहुंचे हैं।

बलदेव कुमार ने बताया कि न सिर्फ उन्हें कश्मीरियों से प्यार हैं बल्कि कश्मीरियों को भी उनसे उतना ही प्यार है। इसी के चलते उन्होंनें इस बार यह रक्तदान शिविर नयागांव में आयोजित करने का निर्णय लिया।

भारत माता की जय के नारों से बनाया देशभक्ति का माहौल:

कश्मीर भारत का हिस्सा है और कश्मीर से कन्याकुमारी तक भारत एक है। भारत माता की जय, वंदे मातरम। कुछ ऐसे ही नारे सुनने को मिले कश्मीरी भाइयों और बहनों के मुँह से। कश्मीर के मूनलाइट वेलफेयर सोसाइटी के वालंटियर्स ने बताया कि हम भारत को अपना देश मानते हैं और हमारे अंदर भी उतनी ही देशभक्ति है जितनी देश के अन्य किसी व्यक्ति में है। हम खुलकर सामने आए हैं और हमें कोई डर नहीं ऐसा कहने में कि भारत हमारा देश है। भारत माता की जय। हिन्दू, मुस्लिम, सिख, ईसाई भाई-भाई। हिंदुस्तान जिंदाबाद। अखंड भारत हमारा सपना है।

Water Supply Committee Inspects Jandpur Pipeline Project

Chandigarh 06^th December:- The water supply & sewerage disposal committee of MCC under the chairmanship of Satish Kainth visited the site of Phase 5 & 6 water pipeline being executed at Jandpur and sector 39, water works. The committee members were including Arun Sood, Devinder Singh Babla, Vinod Aggarwal, Jagtar Singh, Ravi Kant Sharma, Sanjay Arora, Superintending Engineer, Public Health wing and other concerned officers of MCC.

They inspected the work of pipeline being laid from Jandpur to Chandigarh. The officers informed the committee members that 90 percent of length of pipeline has been laid. The members also asked the officers regarding the completion of civil, mechanical and electrical works at Jandpur, and the officers apprised that it will be completed by March, 2018.

During the inspection of work at sector 39 water works, it was observed that about 50 percent of the work of water treatment plant has been completed and the construction of clear water tank & storage/sedimentation tanks are about 30 percent completed. The machinery for the work has also been ordered and will be received by January, 2018.

The officers informed that the delay in work of Jandpur due to the late handing over of the land by Punjab Govt. The councilors asked the officials to get the work completed by April, 2018. Any matter with the Punjab Govt. regarding electrical connection should be sorted out at the earliest to avoid any delay, the committee assured.
