“Make More of Your World”: BBC World Service Kick Start India Campaign with Huge Public Splash

By Tricitynews
Chandigarh 05th June:- BBC WORLD SERVICE created a huge shout-out in Mumbai this weekend by illustrating a new public splash to support their “Make more of your world” campaign.
Renowned Bollywood actress Divya Dutta visited the site to witness the artwork. The campaign was developed in house by BBC Creative who worked in partnership with the renowned graffiti writer turned artist, INSA. INSA is at his very best when on location, painting bright and beautiful art straight onto the environment. As part of the campaign the BBC Marketing team commissioned a 100ft wall opposite Juhu beach where INSA produced a bespoke artwork that connects directly with its surroundings, literally making more of the world around us.
INSA split the 100ft wall into 12 frames and turned grey, smoking chimneys stacks into beautiful green trees. The 12 frame narrative is brought to life using an image that changes ever-so-slightly each time, a labour intensive and meticulous task.  The end result is completely mesmerising, creating a looping ‘Gif’ that blurs the offline and online worlds.  At either side of the wall, people can scan QR codes taking them to YouTube pages where audiences can view the 30 second TV ad.
This brand campaign highlights new BBC WORLD SERVICE local languages that are now available to audiences in India. The main objective is to drive reach and to position the BBC as a news provider that offers something unique for audiences.
Lisa Santoro, Head of BBC Marketing, World Service said that this was an extremely ambitious campaign from the outset. The extensive market research, developing a creative proposition that would work across an entire country and launching in 6 languages simultaneously was an amazing achievement. We delivered an integrated marketing campaign that allowed us to be innovative, creative and dynamic in a fast moving, competitive market.
BBC World Service has enhanced existing language services and has launched 12 new services including 4 in India which are: Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi and Telugu. This means the BBC World Service will be available in 42 languages including English. Along with developing these language services BBC World Service continue to ensure their editorial offering covers News in its widest sense and that audiences are aware of this.
The campaign drives people to consume BBC News content to help them make more of their world.

Almonds Will Make Healthy Difference to Life: Fitness Expert Hardeep Singh

By Tricitynews
Chandigarh 05th June:- Almonds commonly known as the king of nuts are not only versatile, crunchy and delicious but also offer natural goodness in every bite. They contain many essential nutrients, including protein and healthy fats, making them a nutrient-rich and convenient snack that can help keep you going throughout the day. Popular Chef Debashis Biswas and renowned Nutritionist Aastha Khungar conducted a live cooking demonstration and a presentation on learnings from various nutrition studies on the health benefits of almonds. The interactive session also included a live demonstration by respected Fitness Expert Hardeep Singh Malii who spoke about the importance of following a regular exercise regime in addition to a healthy diet including almonds.
Through the session, chef Debashis Biswas demonstrated a few delicious and healthy snacking recipes which are also easy and quick to make
Fitness expert Hardeep Singh who showcased some basic exercises that can be easily done at home and shared his views on incorporating small changes, like eating a handful of almonds every day and working out regularly, to help maintain a healthy life.
Nutritionist Aastha Khungar talked about the various health and nutritional benefits of eating almonds. She spoke about almonds’ anti-oxidant qualities (being rich in vitamin E), role in satiety, weighti and diabetes management and maintaining a healthy heartiii as demonstrated by decades of published research.
Nutritionist Aastha Khungar said that the increasing incidence of heart disease, obesity and other lifestyle-related issues calls for continuous focus on a healthy diet in today’s fast paced life. One simple step towards healthier eating is by incorporating healthy snacks like almonds in your daily diet. A study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association found that a daily snack of 42 grams of almonds, consumed as part of an overall healthy diet, improved a number of risk factors for heart disease. In addition to significantly improving Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL/bad) cholesterol, snacking on almonds also reduced central adiposity (belly fat) and waist circumference, all well-established heart disease risk factors.
Chef Debashis Biswas, prepared simple yet delicious almond snack recipes in a matter of minutes, added that eating healthy does not mean you have to give up eating snacks. Smart snacking is the key! A handful of almonds, for instance, may have satiating properties that promote feelings of fullness, which may keep hunger at bay between meals and steer you away from less healthy options. They are an ideal ‘smart snack’.
Owing to our extremely busy lifestyle, exercise of any kind may take a back-seat for many people. However, not taking care of one’s health and fitness may lead to sedentary lifestyle related ailments. Hence, in addition to eating a balanced diet, it is imperative to do some type of exercise every day. You do not have to hit the gym, go for a run or walk but even simple exercises at home done right every day, can go a long way. Regular exercise plus healthy eating including snacking on fruits and nuts like
Fitness expert Hardeep Singh shared that almonds will make a healthy difference to everyone’s life.

Claim of Fee of Drop Out Students is not Fraud: JAC

By Tricitynews
Chandigarh 04th June:- Joint Action Committee (JAC) of all the 14 associations of unaided colleges under the chairmanship of Ashwani Sekhri held a press conference today at Chandigarh Press Club. The member associations represent more than 1500 unaided institutes.
JAC spokesperson Dr. Anshu Kataria while addressing the Press conference said that JAC urge the Punjab Govt. to immediately amend the notification released on July 22, 2016 by the previous Govt. and shall have the calculations of audit based on this revised policy.
He said further that according to this notification the Govt. shall not disburse or seek the refund of fee of those SC students who have not completed their course but studied for 1-2-3 years. The audit teams have calculated the objectionable amount based on this policy w.e.f. 2011-12 sessions while it was implemented w.e.f. 2016-17. JAC said that dropout rate is very high in India and the claim of dropout students for the period he has studied is not a fraud.
The Govt. has also applied fee capping on the courses where fee of Govt. colleges is less than the unaided institutes like ITI, B. Ed., ETT, BA, B.Com, B.Sc etc. The fee for these institutes is fixed by the Govt. hence they are liable to receive the same fee for SC students as well. Due to this policy these institutes are demanding full fee from SC students.
Ashwani Sekhri further said that due to faulty policy enacted by the previous Govt. the institutes are suffering. The Punjab Govt. has also weakened its case of release of scholarship from center by terming the audit objections as embezzlement of funds and fraud. He said that deductions on flimsy grounds shall serve no bearing on financial health of Govt., which have fixed liability of only 60.80 crore per annum till 2016-17.  More than half Colleges turned into NPA Accounts/ after Farmers now Educationists on Suicidal mode.
After Farmers now Educationists have started committed suicide. Recently one ITI owner from Muktsar, Subhash Bhateja committed suicide. More than half of the Colleges have turned into NPA account because of the Nonpayment of the funds since last 2-3 years. Banks have started auctions after taking the possession of the NPA accounts. This situation has arisen due to non release of PMS from last 2-3 years.
JAC demanded from the Punjab Govt. to immediately release its share of around 700 crore of total balance of PMS for SC of more than 1600 crore. They said that Chief Minister has consented to have a meeting with JAC on 14th June to listen and address their concerns. JAC is hopeful of solution to their problems by the CM.

The Key Speakers of the Inaugural/Technical Session–1 Indra Mani Mishra, Head, Agriculture Engg., ICAR- IARI New Delhi and Dr. Jaskaran Singh Mahal, Director, PAU Ludhiana presented on the various issues of Stubble burning involving the challenges and solutions to this issue.
Punjab and other North Western States, neighbouring NCT of Delhi facing Crop Residue Burning for the past 30 years, will now get some relief as the Central Government has joined the state of Punjab for providing enhanced subsidy for farmers  on Agricultural Machinery & Equipment for in-situ management of crop residues. The State of Punjab & other States has been assisted by Govt of India through the active involvement of Prime Minister's Office and the Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Ministry. This has been stated by Dr S. K Pattanayak, I.A.S, Secretary to Government of India in the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, while inaugurating a seminar on Prevention & Solution to Stubble Burning at Engineers Bhawan, Chandigarh. He expressed that everyone is proud of the contributions made by the farmers of the state in producing food grains for the country in hard times but as other states have also followed in terms of production of food grains, the Punjab farmers need to diversify to other crops with more sustainable and locally appropriate systems of production and income from agriculture sector.
The Guest of Honour on the occasion, Additional Chief Secretary, Development, Viswajeet Khanna, addressing the gathering expressed his views that the Punjab has sacrificed its natural resources in terms of water and soil health while producing more food grains for the country in difficult times. Government had to take a saviour step to implement "Punjab Sub Surface Water Preservation Act, in 2009," to put a check on falling ground water that has resulted in shift in transplanting date of Paddy. But this has reduced the time window available for only 15-20 days, between the harvesting of paddy and sowing of wheat & other crops .Secondly, the farmers in Punjab has been growing high yielding varieties of paddy that are also generating huge volume of straw, which is not possible to manage and has escalated the problem resulting in large scale paddy straw burning .
The One Day Seminar organised by Institution of Engineers , Punjab & Chandigarh State Centre for finding solutions to prevention and solution to stubble burning here in Engineers Bhawan , Madhya Marg, Chandigarh. The Institution having its strong base and known for its activities in the country can provide more practical solutions to the problem in the near future. The Seminar attended by delegates from Govt. Departments , Central Institutions , Students from engineering colleges , Progressive Farmers and representatives from industry.
Addressing the delegates, Joint Secretary informed that the cabinet in Government of India has approved a New Centrally Sponsored Scheme for Promotion of Agricultural Mechanization for  In-Situ Management of Crop Residue In the States of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and NCT of Delhi, vide which state of Punjab will get Rs. 665.00 crores over a period of 2 years with large scale awareness activities, media campaign, and demonstration of equipment. Under this scheme, 80% subsidy will be provided on single or multiple equipment for In-Situ crop residue management equipment to PACS or Farmer Groups or FPOs  on the Project Cost of Custom Hiring Centre (CHC) for Farm Machinery Banks ranging from 10.00 lakh to 75.00 lakhs and 50 % subsidy to individual farmers for procurement of  these equipment.
Punjab Pollution Control Board, Chairman and Secretary Agriculture, Kahan Singh Pannu, enlightened the gathering, as how far stubble burning is causing damage to soils in the state as well as the production levels besides the environment.  Taking a step towards the solution to the problem, the owners of Combine Harvesters in the state have been intimated that no combine harvester will be allowed to operate in the state during forthcoming paddy harvesting season & there onwards, without Super Straw Management System, which is helpful in chopping and widely spreading the paddy straw has been made mandatory under the Air Act ,1986.
Other Speakers Manmohan Kalia, Nodal Officer Crop Residue Management, Agriculture Department, Sandeep Garg of Eco Laboratories, Dr Sucha Singh Gill , CRRID also addressed the gathering . It has been proposed that the Governments should promote the all known technologies & practices on-board, may it be Residue Management by keeping paddy or wheat straw as mulch and sowing wheat or other crops in the mulch itself or Incorporation of residue in to the soils  and may it be Collection & Removal of Straw out of the fields  as per the local requirements and other techniques such as Compost Making , Generation of Bio CNG , Bio Ethanol , Pelletisation for cattle feed & fuel cakes etc.
