Journalists Hold ‘Walkathon’ to Stay Fit

By Tricitynews Reporter
Chandigarh 29th August:- Members of the Chandigarh Press Club today participated in a first-of-its-kind morning walk event here to commemorate the birth anniversary of hockey legend Dhyan Chand.
More than 20 club members took part in the walk that was led by club member and veteran photojournalist Swadesh Talwar.
Club sports committee chairman Manmohan Singh said such events helped members staying fit.
Former UT joint director sports K.S. Bharti, who also participated, complemented the club members for organising the walk. Highlighting the club sports activities, club President Jaswant Singh Rana said earlier table tennis, carom and cricket tournaments were organised.
Earlier, the Chandigarh Press Club in association with the Department of Forests participated in a three-km ‘greenathon’ in May at the Sukhna Lake reserved forests with the aim to keep the club journalists fit and think ‘green’.
Jaswant Singh Rana said that in our daily hectic routine, it’s difficult to spare a time for self to keep fit. So we have decided to organise a walking expedition, initially at a smaller stretch. He said the Press Club would also launch a campaign to promote walking and cycling to stay fit and reduce pollution
