Brahspati Kala Kendra organizes 11th Brahspati Sangeet Samaroh at Tagore Theatre

Chandigarh 16th September:- Sangeet Natak Academy, North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala  in association with Brahspati Kala Kendra organized a scintillating Kathak recital at the Tagore Theatre here today on the eve of  three day 11th Brahspati sangeet Samaroh from 16 to 18th September at 6:30 pm daily. Inaugural day of samaroh featured dynamic and well-known Kathak exponent Dr. Samira Koser of  Jaipur gharana.
Born  in a aesthetic disciplined family, Samira had a  sense  of  dance  since childhood and  she participated  in  various  dance  competitions during her school and college education winning accolades everywhere.  She received her initial training into the essentials of this classical dance from Late Guru Kanhiya Lal, the doyen of the Jaipur gharana.   Samira’s unshakable loyality to the art and dedication to the object got another life when Kathak wizard Guru Shobha  Koser,  offered  her unstinted support and guidance. The expert training imparted by Guru Shobha Koser molded Samira into an accomplished dancer.  She was introduced to the intricacies of the Jaipur Gharana of Kathak including the presentation of pure dance (nritta) items like tukre, tode, gats, parans, etc. Presently, she is honing her skill under Guru Brij Mohan Gangani. 
The renowned Kathak Danseuse Samira Koser opened up the programme with a spiritual performance Krishan Stuti, followed by Traditional Kathak Dance.  Gat, Nikas Thaat, aamad, uthaan, paran, chakradar paran, upaj , pramilu so on were presented with captivating and graceful movements and fine footwork. Then she moved on the special presentation “Yashodhara”. Samira Koser beautifully danced to “Yashodhara”” displaying her command over abhinaya aspect of Kathak. She doled out with composition “Yashodhara”, is a story of Gautam Buddha from the perspective of Yashodhara( wife of Gautam Buddha). This dance piece tells the story of the love and sacrifice of Yashodhara, the wife of Lord Buddha. When Prince Siddhartha leaves home quietly to seek enlightenment and abandons Yashodhara. She filled with grief, dismay as his husband taken away the essence from her life. After so many years she oozes with excitement as her listen news about return of his husband but she found a saint asking for bhiksha in spite of her husband. When Gauam Buddha asks pardon from Yashodhara, she very humble not only forgive her but also donates her only life support her son Rahul as Bhiksha . And she left all alone to live ever after. Dr. Samira amidst thunderous applause for her presentation full of emotions.
The accomplished artists Pt. Jawala Prasad on Harmonium and vocal, Vijay Sharma on Sitar, Guru Brij Mohan Gangani on padant, Ustad Akram Khan and Mehmood Khan on Tabla, Prakash on flute embellished the recital.
